DEFINITION Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) 1st Degree (MCL 750.520b) is the sexual intercourse of a person, forcibly and/or against that person's will; or, not forcibly or against the person's will where the vic)m is incapable of giving consent because of his/her temporary or permanent mental or physical incapacity. Michigan collects the crime data for this offense based on the Federal Bureau of Inves)ga)on's Na)onal Incident Based Repor)ng System (NIBRS). Note: CSC 1st and 3rd are differenated by the weapon involved and the degree of the vicm injury. ANALYSIS VOLUME The number of vic)ms reported for CSC - 1st Degree, Sexual Penetra)on - Penis/Vagina was 3,016. This is a reported decrease of seven percent from 2013 and a 14 percent decrease from 2010. More vic)ms were reported in the month of August than any other month. DEFINITION

Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) 1st Degree (MCL 750.520b) is

ANALYSISVOLUME

The number of vic)ms reported for CSC - 1st Degree, Sexual

Penetra)on - Penis/Vagina was 3,016. This is a reported

decrease of seven percent from 2013 and a 14 percent

decrease from 2010.

More vic)ms were reported in the month of August than

any other month. The fewest number of vic)ms were

reported in December.

RATE

The crime rate for this offense in 2014 was 30 for every

100,000 persons. In 2013, the crime rate was 33 for every

100,000 persons, a decrease of nine percent.

CLEARANCES

Law enforcement agencies cleared 802 incidents by an

arrest or excep)onal clearance. This is a reported 28

percent clearance rate, which is a two percent improvement

from 2013.

VICTIM INFORMATION

VOLUMEThe number of vic ms reported for CSC ‐ 3rd Degree, Sexual Penetra on ‐ Penis/Vagina was 1,013.  This is a reported decrease of nine percent from 2013.  

More vic ms were reported in the month of October than any other month.  The fewest number of vic ms was reported in December.  The most vic ms were reported on Wednesdays.

RATEThe crime rate for this offense in 2014 was 10 for every 100,000 persons, which is a reported decrease of nine percent from 2013.

CLEARANCESLaw enforcement agencies cleared 310 incidents by an arrest or excep onal clearance out of the 975 incidents that were reported.  This is a reported 32 percent clearance rate. 

VICTIM INFORMATIONMost of the vic ms (84 percent) did not receive any injury.  There were 12 percent of vic ms who received Apparent Minor Injuries and three percent received Possible Internal injuries.

Sixty (60) percent of the vic ms did not have a weapon used against them.  The most used weapon occurring 35 percent of the  me was a Personal Weapon meaning hands, fists, feet, etc.

When reviewing the Vic m to Offender rela onships, 28 percent of the  me, the vic m was an Acquaintance of the offender.  With 22 percent of the vic ms, the Vic m to Offender rela onship was the Da ng (Boyfriend/Girlfriend) rela onship.  Fourteen (14) percent of the  me, the vic m was a Friend of the offender. 

The most reported loca on was a Residence/Home, which equates to 76 percent of the vic ms.  The next highest percentage was at Hotel/Motel/etc. loca on at four percent.

More vic)ms were reported in the months of January than any

other month. The fewest number of vic)ms was reported in

December. The most vic)ms were reported on Thursdays.

RATEThe crime rate for this offense in 2014 was 10 for every 100,000

persons, which is a reported decrease of nine percent from 2013.

CLEARANCESLaw enforcement agencies cleared 230 incidents by an arrest or

excep)onal clearance out of the 911 incidents that were

reported. This is a reported 25 percent clearance rate.

VICTIM INFORMATIONMost of the vic)ms (86 percent) did not receive any injury.

There were 10 percent of vic)ms who received Apparent Minor

Injuries and four percent received Possible Internal injuries.

DEFINITION

Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) 3rd Degree (MCL 750.520d) is the sexual intercourse of a person, forcibly and/or against that person's will; or, not forcibly or against the person's will where the vic m is incapable of giving consent because of his/her temporary or permanent mental or physical incapacity.  Michigan collects the crime data for this offense based on the Federal Bureau of Inves ga on's Na onal Incident Based Repor ng System (NIBRS).  Note:  CSC 1st and 3rd are differen ated by the weapon involved 

and the degree of the vic m injury.  

ANALYSIS

VOLUMEThe number of vic ms reported for CSC ‐ 3rd Degree, Sexual Penetra on ‐Oral/Anal was 420.  This is a reported decrease of  11 percent from 2013.  

More vic ms were reported in the month of October than any other month.  The fewest number of vic ms was reported in February and April.  These crimes occurred most o en on Wednesdays.

RATEThe crime rate for this offense in 2014 was four for every 100,000 persons, which is a reported decrease of 20 percent from 2013.

CLEARANCESLaw enforcement agencies cleared 103 incidents by an arrest or excep onal clearance out of the 388 incidents that were reported.  This is a reported 26 percent clearance rate. 

VICTIM INFORMATIONMost of the vic ms (89 percent) did not receive any injury.  There were nine percent of vic ms who received Apparent Minor Injuries and two percent received Possible Internal injuries.

Sixty (60) percent of the vic ms did not have a weapon used against them.  The most used weapon occurring 34 percent of the  me was a Personal Weapon meaning hands, fists, feet, etc.

When reviewing the Vic m to Offender rela onships, 25 percent of the  me, the vic m was an Acquaintance of the offender.  With 15 percent of the vic ms, the Vic m to Offender rela onship was Otherwise Known.  Eleven (11) percent of the 

me, the vic m was a Friend of the offender. 

The most reported loca on was a Residence/Home, which equates to 66 percent of the vic ms.  The next highest percentage was a School‐Elementary/Secondary loca on at five percent.

VICTIM INFORMATIONMost of the vic ms (80 percent) did not receive any injury.  There were 13 percent of vic ms who received Apparent Minor Injuries and seven percent received Possible Internal injuries.

DEFINITION

Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) 3rd Degree (MCL 750.520d) is the sexual intercourse of a person, forcibly and/or against that person's will; or, not forcibly or against the person's will where the vic m is incapable of giving consent because of his/her temporary or permanent mental or physical incapacity.  Michigan collects the crime data for this offense based on the Federal Bureau of Inves ga on's Na onal Incident Based Repor ng System (NIBRS).  Note:  CSC 1st and 3rd are differen ated by the weapon involved 

and the degree of the vic m injury.  

ANALYSIS

VOLUMEThe number of vic ms reported for CSC ‐ 3rd Degree, Sexual Penetra on ‐ Object was 166.  This is a reported increase of eight percent from 2013.  

More vic ms were reported in the month of April than any other month.  The fewest number of vic ms was reported in June.  The most vic ms were reported on Fridays.

RATEThe crime rate for this offense in 2014 was two for every 100,000 persons, which is the same rate that was reported in 2013.

CLEARANCESLaw enforcement agencies cleared 47 incidents by an arrest or excep onal clearance out of the 152 incidents that were reported.  This is a reported 31 percent clearance rate. 

VICTIM INFORMATIONMost of the vic ms (86 percent) did not receive any injury.  There were 10 percent of vic ms who received Apparent Minor Injuries and three percent received Possible Internal injuries.

Fi y‐seven (57) percent of the vic ms did not have a weapon used against them.  The most used weapon occurring 37 percent of the  me was a Personal Weapon meaning hands, fists, feet, etc.

When reviewing the Vic m to Offender rela onships, 24 percent of the  me, the vic m was an Acquaintance of the offender.  With 16 percent of the vic ms, the Vic m to Offender rela onship was Otherwise Known.  Fourteen (14) percent of the 

me, the vic m was a Friend of the offender. 

The most reported loca on was a Residence/Home, which equates to 69 percent of the vic ms.  The next highest percentage was Other loca on at five percent.

Thirty‐six (36) percent of the vic ms were between the ages of 15 and 19.
