Happy Eat Local Month!

Eat LocaL MonTh PassPort

September is a special time in Northwest Washington. It’s the height of the harvest season and prime time to shine a light on all the good folks who grow, raise, create and lovingly prepare the delicious food we eat; and celebrate!

To us, local means food that is grown, raised or produced in Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan Counties. When you buy local food at a grocery store, make the effort to head to the farmers market or choose a restaurant that buys local, you should feel good! You are eating in support of families, our community, and lots of hard work done behind the scenes to get our food from seed to plate. And doesn’t it make it that much more satisfying? So this month we want to say kudos to you!

Join us all September for Eat Local Month: full of lively events, culinary adventures, a passport to prizes (see below!) AND Whatcom County’s own Farm Tour, a chance to explore, meet your farmer, and taste the freshest flavors around.
