Dear Friends,

We once again ask that you consider joining us at the Scarlet and Gold Invitational. Now in our fifth year, we continue to host the event to benefit “Hope For The Warriors®”. With Johnny Bench and Doug Flynn returning as our Celebrity Hosts, this year hopes to bring continued growth to our fundraising efforts. The event will be held on September 14th through the 17th, again at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC. We kick-off the event on Sunday at River Landing with the opportunity to enjoy two days of golf on the beautiful River Landing Country Club Championship golf courses, experiencing both the River Course and the Landing Course, which are rated by the North Carolina Golf Panel #1 and #2 in the Eastern Region. We will also have a day specifically designated to spend time on base with our troops, giving you the chance to interact on a personal basis with our military heroes, seeing first hand the results of your contributions. We will also continue the time honored tradition of “Warrior Night”.This is simply the year that you don’t want to miss!

We are proud to support Hope For The Warriors® and their mission: “To enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit,

and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.” Hope For the Warriors® received Charity Navigator’s Four-Star Rating for the second consecutive year and through proceeds from the Scarlet and Gold Invitational, we are proud to be able to provide financial support to their good works.

As we continue to work to grow contributions to Hope For the Warriors®, we are fortunate to have the support of River Landing, 1-800-PACK-RAT and Food Lion as presenting sponsors. We maintain our LOFTY set of goals for growing the event and the contribution to Hope For The Warriors®. We would like to ask that you take the time now to SAVE THE DATE for the event. Along with this letter, you will find a response card. Please take the time today to make your plans to attend. We anticipate that the event will fill quickly!

Sincerely,

Rich PhaneufTerry Tate Jeff Turner

The mission of Hope For The Warriors® is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.

History

Hope For The Warriors® is a national, nonprofit organization that supports wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of the fallen. A group of military wives founded the organization in 2006. They stood together as they witnessed, firsthand, the effects of the war on service members and their families. Since that time, Hope For The Warriors® has grown tremendously in the span of programs offered and the number of wounded and family members assisted.

While founded in North Carolina, the organization maintains offices in New York, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Florida. Its representatives cover California, Texas, Illinois, and Wyoming, enabling us to maintain a nation-wide presence. The leadership of the organization still remains in the dedicated hands of military wives.

Together, our board of directors, staff, and volunteers work tirelessly to serve those who have sacrificed so much. The integrity of our organization is paramount and therefore our representatives are as honorable and noble as our mission and the people we serve.

WELCOME FROM OUR CO-HOSTSDOUG FLYNN & JOHNNY BENCHDear friends. We would like to welcome all our celebrity friends, sponsors, and our young men and women from Hope For The Warriors to the Scarlet and Gold Invitational. This event supports Hope For The Warriors and like all of you, we are honored to take part in honoring our American heroes. Your support goes a long way in giving our young service personnel an opportunity to regain their health and well-being, thus helping them lead productive and fulfilling lives. Wounded Warriors, we love and appreciate what you have sacrificed for our country. Finding a way to express this appreciation is difficult. All we can say is thank you! We are proud to host this event and welcome you to this fun filled and exciting event.

The swift and sure swing of a golf club. A determined push on a handcycle. A sigh of relief that the rent will be paid. Each of these sounds are unique and yet each is a signal of hope. They are the sounds that the staff and volunteers of Hope For the Warriors hear each week and the sounds that propel them forward in their work of restoring a sense of self, restoring families and restoring hope in service members. The mission of Hope For the Warriors s to enhance the quality of life for post 9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. A group of military wives founded the organization in 2006. They stood together as they witnessed, firsthand, the effects of the war on service members and their families. Since that time, Hope For the Warriors has grown tremendously in the span of programs offered and the number of wounded and family members assisted. Their programs offer a full cycle of support starting with Immediate Needs financial assistance and continuing through A Warrior’s Wish, Hope & Morale, Above

& Beyond Transitional Program, Spouse/Caregiver Scholarships, Family Reintegration Program, Family Support, Team Hope For the Warriors and more. Through Immediate Needs financial assistance the staff aids overwhelmed families who are learning to navigate the medical centers. As a family transitions from shock, to fear, to acceptance and determination- Hope For the Warriors tracks their needs each step of the way. Through Hope and Morale Outdoor Adventure programs, wounded service members utilize golf, hunting, fishing, kayaking and more as part of their physical and emotional rehabilitation. The Above & Beyond transitional program has paired service members with mentors- teaching heroes how to succeed within the civilian employment market. Athletes, who run, bike, swim and more join Team Hope For the Warriors, engaging their competitive spirit and allowing them to be defined by their accomplishments, not their injuries. Family members are an integral part of a service member’s recovery and an important focus of each program. The Family Support Program ensures that the needs of the families are addressed alongside the needs of the service members. Hope For the Warriors understands the challenges, pride, and joy of being a military family. For today, tomorrow, and years to come, they will strive to meet the changing needs of service members and their families.
