Following after the success of 2014 summit, it is the

second time that AIPIA brings ’ Active Packaging & Intelli-

gent Packaging Summit & Exhibition: A Chinese Perspec-

tive’ to China. AIPIA are highly recognized by spreading

the latest technologies of active packaging and intelligent

packaging in Germany, Japan, America and some other

developed countries before it comes to China. You will

learn the most advanced technologies and innovations in

our platform, and communicate with those who leading the

industry.

AIPIA IS A WORLD WIDE ASSOCIATION PROMOTING HIGH TECH PACKAGING SOLUTIONS.

AIPIA'S MISSION IS TO DECIMATE SUPPLY CHAIN COSTS, REDUCE WASTE AND INCREASE IT'S MEMBERS PROFIT-

ABILITY BY THE IMPLEMENTATION OF HIGH TECH SOLUTIONS IN PACKAGING.

We believe that active and intelligent technologies in packaging are a ‘once in a generation’ change in the sector. Not only will

they alter the role of packaging in the marketplace, but also facilitate better business through premium pricing, supply chain

management, improved security/brand protection and waste reduction.

To reach these goal key-players in the FOOD, DRINK, PHARMACEUTICAL, COSMETIC and other related industries have joined

hands. Their target is extremely easy to understand:take advantage of the use of active and intelligent packaging solutions. AIPIA

is the focus for information on the latest developments and knowledge exchange.

China International Exhibitions (CIE) (formerly Hong Kong Exhibition Services Ltd.), is an organiser, manager and

consultant for trade exhibitions. CIE is responsible for a full calendar of trade only exhibitions in Shanghai, Beijing and Mongolia.

Counterfeit product in the market place is a major concern for the brand owners. It is not the revenue loss though big in

number is important but the damage it brings to the brand itself. It’s the experience of the consumer with the fake prod-

uct to impact the brand image. In the session I would like to have an interactive session to share the experiences of the

brand owners how did they counter the issue? How effective are Overt & Covert marking on the products to tackle the

issue. The options available for the markings. Management of supply chain for counterfeit products.

How to handle counterfeit issues in the market-Zubair Hasnain UNILEVER GLOBAL HQ

14:10 pm. Enhanced ID Barcodes-R Barenberg ID PROJECT

14:50 pm. Packaging and the Internet of Things, what brand owners need-M Anley Indigo Brands

The presentation will give a short overview of Active & Intelligent Packaging Technologies and discuss which of these

can benefit the Chinese markets and make some predictions about future developments.

Active & Intelligent Packaging / Augmented Reality solutions / Electronic Printing / Functional, unique designs to

protect IP and create a point of difference

Biocontrol packaging using bacteriophages can control the growth of pathogens in food, such as readytoeat meat,

cantaloupe and sprouts. Immobilized bacteriophages, viruses that kill specific bacteria butare harmless to humans, kill

their target bacteria by reproducing inside them. They do not affect colour, flavour, texture or taste. Other technologies,

where the phages are sprayed on food in the production line, are in development or on the market. In Sentinel’s

approach, the phages are immobilized in the paper that separates slices of cold cuts, cheese or similar foods. This uses

less phages, and releases them only when the target pathogen is present to avoid overuse. Various immobilization

techniques to maintain phage activity were investigated on commercially available paper. The phages were active and

able to capture and kill pathogenic bacteria in a variety of packaging technologies, and they also extended shelf life.

Brands need tools and technologies to: Protect against counterfeit and Detect the incidence of counterfeit. Historically,

many measures used in packaging have been designed to be OVERT, to give consumers confidence – largely based on

the principle of “we use holograms – so who’d be bothered making a fake one”. So in 2015 and onwards, Brands need to

re-think their packaging strategies, making packaging more intelligent and using technologies that are at least invisible

and ideally unable to be copied by counterfeiters.

Enhanced ID BarcodesPresent Bar code usage on packaging in commerce / Benefits and Limitations / Comparison of 1D

and 2D symbologies / Present Point of Sale scanning capabilities / Bridging the present POS scanning 1D capabilities and

the emerging 2D imagers coming online / Linking 1D and 2D bar codes / Linking 1D and other 1D bar codes / Encryption

of either / or both of those symbologies / Using the same technology to link Brands and Consumers / Smartphone appli-
