This past year brought great strides to Greater Portland Inc. We increased our focus on making the region one of the nation’s most competitive and vibrant metropolitan economies.

By attracting six companies to the region, GPI assisted in the creation of 234 jobs, and we have continued to enhance relationships with companies considering relocating to, or expanding within, the Greater Portland area. We also increased our visibility in other markets and among national influencers when we led or joined in five sales missions and hosted three national site-selection consultants for a familiarization (FAM) tour.

In 2015, GPI updated our digital front door through a revamped website, and efforts to bring awareness and attention to the region were successful through earned media in the The Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg Business.

We also continued to represent Greater Portland in national and international settings through the Brookings/ JPMorgan Chase Global Cities Initiative.

With our partners, GPI completed the Greater Portland 2020 framework, the comprehensive initiative for regional economic development, and we broadened our base by securing 13 new investors.

I am honored to serve as GPI Board Chairman. We have accomplished much, and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you on creating prosperity and opportunities for our region.

Sincerely,

James J. Piro

A LOOK AHEAD FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO JANET LABAR

Over the past year, I have been encouraged by the opportunities that exist across this region for businesses looking to grow. As the organization with the unique privilege of marketing this dynamic region, GPI has developed strategies to position Greater Portland as a top investment location and bring this message to decision makers around the world.

Looking ahead, GPI will further focus on delivering on our core objectives—marketing the region and pursuing opportunities for job creation and investment. We will expand our business development activity by embarking on more targeted sales missions and aim to bring more attention to Greater Portland through Familiarization (FAM) tours.

We will also get deeper into digital marketing strategy with key site selectors and companies through targeted digital advertisements, social media posts and newsletters, and digital communications that are useful and informative for the reader.

We’ll seek to best support our communities and local partners in their work to help existing companies grow, and lend regional expertise on community readiness for projects. We’re partnering with more organizations to leverage resources and hone in on where we can collectively make the most impact.

As we gear up to make 2016 a banner year, GPI is energized and ready to make a positive and impactful difference in Greater Portland’s economy.

Thank you for your continued support of GPI and your commitment to advancing our region.

Sincerely,

Janet LaBar Greater Portland Inc President & CEO
