Competition Venue Pusat Cabaran Putrajaya – Outdoor Climbing Wall, Putrajaya, Malaysia. The Putrajaya Challenge Park in the southern part of the city straddles Precincts 5 and 20, covering 46.73ha in Taman Selatan. The components for the extreme sports were the Wall Climbing Complex, Skate Park and Bike Trail. The focus of the 2,100sq m Wall Climbing Complex is the colourful trapezional climbing wall stretching 42m wide, 42m long and 20m high. To cater for novice and expert climbers, the wall is divided into the beginners’ wall, competition wall, speed wall, advance wall and boulder. BRIEF INFORMATION ON MALAYSIA

Malaysia is a tropical paradise situated 7 degree north of the Equator in the heart of Southeast Asia. It comprises Peninsular Malaysia and three-states of Sabah, Sarawak & Federal Territory of Labuan on the island of Borneo. The climate is warm and humid throughout the year. Malaysia is a multi-racial country with a population of approximately 21.3 million consisting of main ethnic groups of Malays, Chinese, and Indians and a very diverse group of indigenous people in Sabah and Sarawak. ‘Bahasa Melayu’ is the national language but English is widely spoken.

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is a city of 244 square km with a population of 1.3 million people and situated on the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is the centre of Malaysia’s political, commercial, and social life. It is a city of delightful contrast – a combination of modern cosmopolitan, sophistication and lingering old charm, a juxtaposition of gracious colonial edifices, pre-war shop houses and gleaming copper-doomed roof against a backdrop of towering skyscrapers. has a fair share of famous landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Tower - the tallest building in the world, the KL Tower, National Mosque, historical relics and heritage buildings.

Climate and Clothing

Malaysia has tropical weather with an average temperature of 22 to 32 oC and high humidity. Light, cool, and casual clothing is recommended. For formal occasion, suits are preferable for men and dress for women.

Food

Malaysia is renowned for the variety of delight foods, ranging from traditional Malay dishes to Chinese, Indian, and Western cuisine. There are numerous eating places catering for every taste and budget.

Electricity

Malaysia's voltage is 220-240 volts AC at 50Hz.

Telephones

Local calls can be made from public phones, coin or card operated. International calls can be made from phone booths with card phone facilities or at any Telecom office. Most hotels are equipped with IDD service.

Medical Services

Medical services are available in most towns by government hospitals and private clinics. Non-prescription drugs are available at pharmacies as well as supermarkets, hotels, and shopping centres.

Business Hours

The country is run on a normal eight hours a day system with Saturday as half day and Sunday is a day of rest. In the states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, Friday is a day of rest with Thursday as a half day. Government offices are opened from 8.00am up to 4.15pm on weekdays (7.30am to 4.45pm in Kuala Lumpur) and 8.00am to 12.45pm on Thursday (Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah) and Saturdays (other remaining states). Banking hours is generally from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, and 9.30am to 11.30am on Saturdays. Department stores and supermarkets are opened daily from 10am to 10pm.

Tipping

Tipping is not a way of life in Malaysia. It is unnecessary in hotels and restaurants where there is already a 6% gst, unless the service rendered is exceptionally good.

Sixty-five countries have diplomatic mission in Malaysia and 30 area diplomatic representatives are accredited to Malaysia from neighbouring capitals. They are generally located in Kuala Lumpur. To contact your own embassy, check with the hotel operator or refer the telephone directory.

Visa Requirements

Commonwealth citizens (except from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka) do not require a visa for a visit not exceeding 3 months. Visa is required for French nationals who intend to stay in Malaysia for more than a month.

Fourteen-day visa free for citizens of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria and South Yemen.

Seven-day visa free for citizens of Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Commonwealth of Independent states (CIS) and Yugoslavia.

One-month visa free for citizens of Asean countries, Laos, and Kampuchea.
