The OECD-BNM Conference will be held on 11-12 December in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event will focus on challenges related to emergence of digital financial assets and their implications on financial consumer protection and education. The event is jointly organised by the Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM) and the OECD*.

We have negotiated rates with several hotels within the vicinity of KL Sentral. These designated hotels are as follows:

Reservation forms for the designated hotels can be found at the end of this document (page 8-11). Participants can make reservations with these hotels by filling up reservation form of your preferred hotel and submit the form via email or fax to the hotel directly. Due to limited number of rooms at the designated hotels, we recommend that you make your reservation as early as possible. Room reservation requests will be confirmed on a ‘first come first serve’ basis.

Participants are however free to choose a hotel other than the designated hotels and have the option to arrange for your own accommodation through other means.

Accommodation must be reserved and paid for directly by participants. Nevertheless, if you need any assistance with your accommodation arrangements, please contact [email protected].

Transportation between hotels and Sasana Kijang

Shuttle services between the designated hotels and Sasana Kijang will be provided for participants. The journey from the hotels to Sasana Kijang will take approximately 20 minutes. Information on timings for pickups will be provided to participants later.

Alternatively, you may take a taxi, use e-hailing services (i.e. Grab, MyCar) transport or train to Sasana Kijang at your own cost. If you are taking a train, you may stop at Bank Negara station which is located approximately 500 metres i.e. 10 minutes walk to Sasana Kijang.

Security Screening and Facilities at Sasana Kijang

Security Screening

All visitors to Sasana Kijang will be required to undergo security screening at the building’s lobby. We highly recommend participants to arrive early before the conference starts to ensure ample time is buffered for the screening.

Travel Documentation and Insurance

Passport and visa

Participants entering Malaysia must each hold a passport or travel document which must be valid for more than six months from the date of entry.

Most nationalities do not require visas for social or business visits. Please check if you need a visa before travelling at https://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/main-services/visa/visa-requirement-by-country.html. If you need a letter of invitation in order to attend this conference, please contact [email protected].

Participants are personally responsible in ensuring that they possess the correct documentation prior to departure. We cannot assist in procuring passports and visas for the participants.

Medical and travel insurance

Participants are advised to have adequate medical and travel insurance to cover their visits to Malaysia. We do not accept responsibility for any consequences whatsoever from a participant who fails to ensure that he or she has complied with the necessary health, passport and visa requirements.

Getting There

By Air

The main gateway to Malaysia is the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at Sepang which is about 50km south of the KL city centre. Participants are responsible for own airport transfers to/from hotel locations.

Airport Transfer

KLIA ExpressFrom KLIA, we recommend that you take the KLIA Ekspres (www.kliaekspres.com), Kuala Lumpur’sfastest airport transfer which links KLIA Main Terminal with the KL Sentral transportation hub in KualaLumpur, where the designated hotels are located.

This non-stop airport transfer takes you from KLIA to the city (KL Sentral) in just 28 minutes. Trains depart every 15 minutes during peak hours. Tickets are available at RM55 and RM100 for single and round trip respectively.

BusExpress Coach runs an express bus every 30 minutes between KL Sentral and KLIA (05:00-00:00 fromKL Sentral and 06:30-00:30 from KLIA) that takes about 1 hour, and costs RM10 one way and RM18return. For more information, please visit www.klia.com.my/getting-around/transport/public-

transport.

Taxi or Grab TransportTaxis (premier and budget), airport limousines and vans are available from the various counters atthe KLIA arrival halls. The fare is around RM100 for the 60 minutes ride from the airport to KL Sentral.Alternatively, you can book a taxi or e-hailing service through Grab mobile app (refer to section on‘Getting Around’ for more information).

Getting Around

You can pick up a complimentary copy of the Kuala Lumpur city map from your hotel concierge or at the Malaysian Tourism Board at their information centres in KLIA and KL Sentral. Participants can also download Grab mobile app available on Apple Store and Google Play to book taxi or e-hailing service. The app will provide driver’s name, number plate as well as an estimated fare (driversrarely attempt to solicit more from passengers).

Useful information

CLIMATE: The country experiences tropical weather year-round. Temperatures range from 25ºC (70ºF) to 32ºC (90ºF).

CURRENCY: The official currency of Malaysia is Ringgit Malaysia and is written as RM or MYR. Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks, airports and money changers around the country.

All major credit cards are widely accepted in the country for trade transactions. Local currency cash withdrawals can done at ATM machines (including those available at Sasana Kijang).

Participants can download My Ringgit mobile app available on Apple Store and Google Play for an interactive guide to the security features of the Malaysian banknotes. The app also includes general advice, quality standards and other related information about the Malaysian currency.

ELECTRICAL SUPPLY: In Malaysia the standard voltage is between 220 volts. The electricity outlets commonly accept the standard 3-pin plugs and sockets.

WATER: Tap water is clean but drinking tap water should be avoided. Bottled water is recommended.

LANGUAGE: Malay is the national language and English is also widely spoken. The many ethnic groups in Malaysia also converse in their various languages and dialects.

TELEPHONE SERVICES: The country code for Malaysia is 60 and the city code for Kuala Lumpur 3. To make an international call, dial: 00 + country code + area code + telephone number. To dial into Malaysia: 0060 local number (Malaysia).

TIME ZONE: Malaysia standard time is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +8:00).

TIPPING: Tipping is not a standard practice in Malaysia but is generally considered an appropriate gesture of appreciation when the level of service has exceeded expectations.
