ABOUT THIS WARRANTYAs the original purchaser of a MICHELIN® passengeror light truck tire, you are covered by all the benefits andconditions (subject to the maintenance recommenda-tions and safety warnings) contained in this booklet. Toensure your understanding of and compliance with theterms and conditions of this warranty, please read itcarefully. It is essential that you also read and under-stand the safety and maintenance recommendations fortires contained in this booklet.

Limited Mileage Warranty:

MICHELIN passenger and light truck tires – replace-ment and original equipment – are covered by a limitedmileage warranty (hereafter referred to as limited war-ranty for treadwear). For the mileage warranty associ-ated with each tire line, please see your Michelin tireretailer – or visit us at www.michelinman.com/promise.

Certain conditions and limitations apply. Mileage war-ranties vary by tire line and certain exclusions mayapply.

SELF-SUPPORTING TIRESZero Pressure (ZP)

As the purchaser of a MICHELIN® Self-SupportingZero Pressure (ZP) passenger tire, mounted on a ve-hicle approved for ZP tires, equipped with a properlyoperating low tire pressure warning system, you arecovered by this warranty. Please pay close attention tothe Owner’s Manual part of this booklet since it providesspecific safety and maintenance information for your ZPtires.

MICHELIN® Self-Supporting Zero Pressure (ZP) tiresare part of a very sophisticated system which is de-

signed to provide a very simple benefit: Peace of Mind. With these tires, you can maneuver the vehicle up to50 miles (80 kilometers) at 55 mph (90 kph), unlessotherwise specified in your vehicle owner’s manual, even though the tire has lost all air! That means time toexit from the highway and get to a place where the tirecan be inspected, replaced, or possibly returned toservice. The distance that can safely be travelled follow-ing an air loss incident will depend upon the conditionsunder which the vehicle is operating, the degree of airloss, the extent of the damage causing the air loss, theambient temperature, the load, and the operating speedof the vehicle. The fewer miles you travel after an air lossincident, the greater the likelihood that the tire can bere-inflated (or, if punctured, repaired) and returned toservice.

Pax System

The MICHELIN® PAX® System is a very sophisticatedsystem that includes the tire, support ring and gel, pressure sensing device, and wheel. In the event of aloss of tire air pressure, with this system you can stillcarefully maneuver the vehicle at speeds up to 55 milesper hour, for a distance of up to 125 miles, even thougha tire has lost all air! That means time to get off thehighway and get to a place where the tire can beinspected, replaced, or possibly repaired and returnedto service. That’s peace of mind!

WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOWLONGPassenger and Light Truck Tires

nally fitted and in accordance with the maintenancerecommendations and safety warnings contained in theattached owner’s manual, are covered by this warrantyagainst defects in workmanship and materials for the lifeof the original usable tread, or 6 years from the date ofpurchase, whichever occurs first. At that time, all war-ranties, express or implied, expire. The usable tread isthe original tread down to the level of the tread wearindicators - 2/32nds of an inch (1.6 mm) of treadremaining. Date of purchase is documented by newvehicle registration or tire sales invoice. If no proof ofpurchase is available, coverage will be based on thedate of manufacture.

Replacement will be made in accordance with the termsand conditions described under “How ReplacementCharges are Calculated”.

Treadwear – Mileage Warranty Coverage for MI-CHELIN® Passenger and Light Truck Tires

MICHELIN® passenger and light truck tires are cov-ered by a manufacturer’s limited warranty for treadwear. For the mileage warranty associated with a specific tireline, please see your Michelin tire retailer or visit us atwww.michelinman.com/promise. Some vehicles comefrom the vehicle manufacturer with “split fitments” –meaning different size tires on the front and rear axles.Because these tires cannot be rotated as recom-mended by Michelin, the mileage warranty on each reartire will cover half the number of miles as the standardmileage warranty for that particular tire design. MichelinSelf-Supporting Zero Pressure (ZP) tires have the samemileage warranty as the standard tire line of which theyare a part, up to but not exceeding 30,000 miles.DOT-approved competition tires (e.g., MICHELIN® Pi-lot® Sport Cup tires) are excluded from any mileagewarranty. MICHELIN® Winter tires must be used duringwinter months only, defined as a period beginning on orafter September 1st of a given year and ending no laterthan April 30th of the following year. MICHELIN wintertires require documentation of the timing of the installa-tion and removal of the tires each winter to maintaincoverage under the limited warranty for treadwear.

An important reminder:No tire manufacturer can guarantee you a certain num-ber of miles from a given tire. Driving habits, drivingconditions, road conditions, and vehicle maintenance allplay a part in the tread life of a tire. If a tire does not reachthe warranted mileage, and the owner of the tires hascomplied with the terms and conditions of the warranty,Michelin will replace the tires as described under “HowReplacement Charges are calculated”.

Temporary SparesMICHELIN® temporary spare tires are covered by thiswarranty for 6 years from the date of purchase or untilthe first 2/32nds of an inch (1.6 mm) of the original treadis worn off. Date of purchase is documented by newvehicle registration or tire sales invoice. If no proof ofpurchase is available, coverage will be based on date ofmanufacture. At that time, all warranties, express orimplied, expire.

WHAT IS NOT COVEREDTires which become unserviceable due to: Road hazard injury (e.g., a cut, snag, bruise, impact

damage, or puncture); Incorrect mounting of the tire, tire/wheel imbalance,

or improper repair; Misapplication, improper maintenance, racing, un-

derinflation, overinflation or other abuse; Uneven or rapid wear which is caused by mechani-

cal irregularity in the vehicle such as wheel misalign-ment (a measured tread difference of 2/32nds of aninch (1.6 mm) or more across the tread on the sametire);

 Accident, fire, chemical corrosion, tire alteration, orvandalism;

 Use in commercial applications for treadwear; bythis warranty for 6 years;

 Cosmetic ozone or weather cracking;

Use of MICHELIN Self-Supporting Zero Pressure(AP) tires without a properly operating low air pres-sure warning system.

HOW REPLACEMENT CHARGES ARECALCULATEDPassenger and Light Truck TiresA tire which becomes unserviceable due to a conditioncovered by this workmanship and materials limited war-ranty will be replaced with a comparable new MI-CHELIN® tire, free of charge, when 2/32nds of an inch(1.6 mm) or less of the original tread is worn, (or 25% orless, whichever is more beneficial to the user) and within12 months of the date of purchase. Mounting andbalancing of the tire is included.

You pay the cost of any other service charges andapplicable taxes. When more than 2/32nds of an inch (1.6 mm) of originaltread has been worn (or more than 25%, whichever ismore beneficial to the user) or after 12 months from thedate of purchase, you must pay the cost of a compa-rable new MICHELIN® passenger or light truck re-placement tire on a pro rata basis. The retailer willdetermine the charge by multiplying the percentage ofthe original usable tread worn, by the current sellingprice at the adjustment location or the price in thecurrent MICHELIN® Base Price List, whichever islower. This list is based on a predetermined price in-tended to fairly represent the actual selling price of thetire.

Any tire, no matter how well constructed, may fail due toimproper maintenance or service factors. This couldcreate a risk of property damage and serious or fatalinjury. Disregarding any of the safety precautions andinstructions contained in this manual may result in tirefailure or explosion causing serious personal injury ordeath. For your safety, comply with the following:

TIRE INFLATIONKeep tires inflated to the pressures recommended onthe tire data placard. (See your OWNER’S MANUAL forlocation.) These inflation pressures must be maintainedas a minimum. However, do not exceed the maximumpressure rating indicated on the tire sidewall.

CHECK INFLATION PRESSURES ON ALL YOURTIRES, INCLUDING THE SPARE, WHEN TIRES ARECOLD, AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH BEFORE DRIV-ING.

Failure to maintain correct inflation may result in im-proper vehicle handling and may cause rapid and ir-regular tire wear, sudden tire destruction, loss of vehiclecontrol and serious personal injury. Therefore, inflationpressures should be checked at least once a month andalways prior to long distance trips.

Pressures should be checked when tires are cold. Thetires are cold when your vehicle has been driven lessthan a mile at moderate speed after being stopped forthree or more hours.

CHECKING PRESSURE WHEN TIRESARE HOTIf you must add air when your tires are hot, add fourpounds per square inch (psi) (28 kPa) above the rec-ommended cold air pressure. Recheck the inflationpressure when the tire is cold. For Example Only:

Gauge reading of hot tire: 32 psiIf recommended pressure is: 30 psiDesired gauge reading of hot tire 30 + 4 psi = 34 psi

Check cold pressures as soon as possible, at least bythe next day. Never “bleed” air from hot tires as your tirewill be underinflated. Use an accurate tire gauge tocheck pressures. Never allow children to air up tires.DRIVING ON ANY TIRE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THECORRECT INFLATION PRESSURE IS DANGEROUS.For replacement tires, the correct inflation pressure will beprovided by your tire dealer. If not, refer to the vehicle decal.Underinflation produces extreme flexing of the sidewallsand builds up heat which may result in sudden tire de-struction and serious personal injury. Overinflating cancause the tire to be more susceptible to impact damage.

LOAD LIMITSDO NOT OVERLOAD. DRIVING ON ANY OVER-LOADED TIRE IS DANGEROUS. Never load yourtires beyond the load carrying limits molded into thesidewall of the tires or the maximum vehicle load limit asshown on the vehicle tire data placard, whichever isless. Overloading causes heat to build up which canlead to sudden tire failure and serious personal injury.

SPEED LIMITS AND SPEED RATEDTIRESHIGH SPEED DRIVING CAN BE DANGEROUS.Never operate your vehicle in excess of lawful speeds orthe maximum speeds justified by the driving conditions.Excessive speeds or racing can cause heat buildup in atire leading to possible failure and serious personalinjury.

Correct inflation pressure is especially impor-tant. However, at high speeds, even with the correctinflation pressure, a road hazard, for example, is moredifficult to avoid and if contact is made, there is a greaterchance of causing tire damage than at the lower speed. Moreover, driving at high speed reduces the reactiontime available to avoid accidents and bring your vehicleto a safe stop. If you see any damage to a tire or wheel, replace it with your spare tire and see your tire dealer atonce.

Tire speed ratings do not imply that a vehicle can besafely driven at the maximum speed for which the tire israted. In addition, some damages or improper repairsmay cause a speed-rated tire to lose its speed rating.Exceeding the tire’s maximum speed rating will causethe tire to build up excessive heat which can cause tiredamage that could result in sudden tire destruction andrapid air loss. Failure to control a vehicle with sudden airloss can lead to an accident. In any case, you should notexceed reasonable speeds as indicated by the legallimits and driving conditions.

Furthermore, tire speed ratings do not implythat vehicles can be safely driven at the maximumspeed for which the tire is rated, particularly underadverse road and weather conditions or if the vehiclehas unusual characteristics. Most highway passengertires that do not have a speed symbol in the sidewallhave a maximum speed rating of 105 mph. Light truckhighway tires that do not have a speed symbol on thesidewall of the tire have a maximum speed of 87 mph. Some light truck tires may have higher maximumspeeds; consult your tire dealer. The speed and otherratings of retreaded tires are assigned by the retreaderand voids the original manufacturer’s ratings.

IMPORTANT: In order to maintain the speed capabilityof the vehicle, replacement tires must have speed rat-ings equal to or higher than those fitted as originalequipment (as indicated on the vehicle placard orOWNER’S MANUAL). If tires with lower speed ratingsare fitted, the speed capability of the vehicle will belowered to the maximum speed capability of the re-placement tire as indicated on the above table.

Remember...High speed driving can be dangerous andmay be damaging to your tires.

And...When driving at highway speeds, correct inflationpressure is especially important.

Contact the manufacturer of your tires for their positionand assistance on the repair of speed-rated tires. Whenyou are replacing tires that have a speed rating, youmust replace with tires of the same or higher speedrating if the speed capability of the vehicle is to bemaintained.

VISUAL INSPECTIONINSPECT YOUR TIRES. DO NOT DRIVE ON ADAMAGED TIRE OR WHEEL. Check your tires fre-quently for scrapes, bulges, separations, cuts, snags, cracks, penetrations or excessive localized wear fromhard braking. Also check for abnormal tire wear, particu-larly on the edges of the tire tread which may be causedby misalignment or underinflation. Impacts can damagethe inner portion of the tire without being visible on theoutside. If damage can be seen on the tires or wheels, orif you suspect that possible impact damage may haveoccurred, replace with spare at once and have your tirestore or dealer inspect your tires immediately. Use of adamaged tire could result in tire destruction. Wheninspecting your tires, including the spare, check your airpressures. If your pressure check indicates that one ofyour tires has lost pressure of two pounds or more, lookfor signs of penetrations, valve leakage, or wheel dam-age that may account for the air loss.

All tires will wear out faster when subjected to highspeeds as well as hard cornering, rapid starts, suddenstops, frequent driving on roads which are in poorcondition, and off-road use. Roads with holes and rocksor other objects can damage tires and cause misalign-ment of your vehicle. When you drive on such roads, drive on them carefully and slowly, and before drivingagain at normal or highway speeds, examine your tiresfor any damage, such as cuts, bulges, penetrations, unusual wear patterns, etc.

TREAD WEAR INDICATORS (WEAR BARS): Tirescontain Tread Wear Indicators (Wear Bars) in thegrooves of the tire tread which show up when only2/32nds of an inch (1.6 mm) of tread is remaining.

At this stage, your tires must be replaced. Tiresworn beyond this stage are dangerous.

HAZARDSObjects in the road that threaten a tire should be safelyavoided. These objects are potholes, glass, metal, rocks, wood debris and the like. Unavoidable contactshould prompt a thorough tire inspection.

You may not always recall hitting an object that candamage or injure your tires. If while driving your vehicleexperiences any unusual vibrations, ride disturbance ornoise and/or you suspect that possible damage to thetires or vehicle has occurred, DO NOT JAM OR LOCKYOUR BRAKES! Rather reduce your speed and drivewith caution until you can safely pull off the road. Stopand inspect the tires. If the tire is underinflated ordamaged, deflate, remove the tire and rim assembly andreplace it with your spare. If you cannot detect a cause, have the vehicle towed to the nearest vehicle or tiredealer to have the vehicle inspected.

REPAIRING, MOUNTING ANDDEMOUNTING OF TIRESDo not attempt to repair, mount or demount a tireyourself. Tire changing can be dangerous and must bedone by professionally trained persons using proper toolsand procedures as specified by the Rubber Manufactur-ers Association (RMA). Follow these mounting rec-ommendations. Your tires should be mounted on

wheels of correct size and type and which are in good, clean condition. Bent, chipped or rusted wheels maycause tire damage. The inside of the tire must be free fromforeign materials. Have your dealer check the wheelsbefore mounting new tires. Mismatched tires and rimscan explode during mounting. Also, mismatched tires andrims can result in dangerous tire failure on the road. If a tireis mounted by error on the wrong-sized rim, do not re-mount it on the proper rim - scrap it. It may be damagedinternally (which is not externally visible) by being danger-ously stretched and could fail on the highway.

Old valves may leak. When new tubeless tires aremounted, have new valves of the correct type installed.Tubeless tires must be mounted only on wheels de-signed for tubeless tires, i.e., wheels which have safetyhumps or ledges.

Never perform a temporary repair, use an innertube orinject sealant as a permanent substitute for a properrepair. Only qualified persons should repair tires.

Be sure that all your valves have suitable valve caps. This will keep valve cores clean and clear and guardagainst leakage.

REPAIRS - WHENEVER POSSIBLE, SEE A TIREDEALER AT ONCE. Some tire manufacturers do notwarrant any inspection or repair process. The repair isentirely the responsibility of the repairer. Punctures inthe tread of a passenger tire which do not exceed 1/4 ofan inch (6 mm) in diameter can usually be repaired byfollowing the Rubber Manufacturer’s Association(RMA) Passenger and Light Truck Repair procedures.Contact the manufacturer of your tires for its position

and assistance as to the acceptable location for aproper repair and the repair of speed rated tires. Do notuse plug repairs. They may cause further damageto the tire. They are not always air tight and theplug may fail. Do not exceed posted speed limits onany repaired tire. Certain tire manufacturers speed rat-ings are voided if the tire is repaired.

Although a tire was properly repaired, internal structuraldamage resulting from the puncture may have occurred.Sometime later the damage may cause the tire to beremoved from service.

If the tire has a puncture in the tread which exceeds1/4 inch (6 mm), the tire must be replaced. If any tire hassustained a puncture, have the tire inspected internally bya tire dealer for possible damage that may have occurred.

Improper mounting and inflation procedures can causean explosion of the tire/rim assembly. Only speciallytrained persons should perform these tasks. Contactyour tire store or dealer for assistance.

CAUTION -Never, under any circumstance, intro-duce a flammable substance into a tire.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND BALANCINGWheel alignment and balancing are important for safetyand maximum mileage from your tires. Check how yourtires are wearing at least once a month. If your tires arewearing unevenly, such as the inside shoulder of the tirewearing faster than the rest of the tread, or if you detectexcessive vibration, your vehicle may be out of align-ment or balance. These conditions not only shorten the

life of your tires, but adversely affect the handling char-acteristics of your vehicle which could be dangerous. Ifyou detect irregular wear or vibration, have your align-ment and balance checked immediately. Tires whichhave been run underinflated will show more wear on theshoulders than in the center of the tread.

HARD BRAKINGYou must inspect your tires after any hard braking cir-cumstances or after tires have slid on the pavement. This can cause a flat spot in a section of the tire tread.

TIRE SPINNINGNever spin your tires above a speedometer reading of35 mph (55 km/h) if your vehicle becomes stuck. Thecentrifugal force generated by the free spinningtire/wheel assembly may cause a sudden tire explosion, resulting in vehicle damage and/or serious personalinjury or death. Never allow anyone to stand near orbehind a tire spinning at high speed while attempting topush a vehicle that is stuck. When in mud, sand, snow, ice or other slippery conditions, do not indulge in exces-sive wheel spin. In such conditions, with automatictransmission vehicles, by accelerating the engine ex-cessively, it is possible to spin one of the drive tiresbeyond its speed capability. This is also true whenbalancing a drive tire/wheel assembly using the engineof the vehicle to spin the wheel.

TIRE TREADTires must be replaced when the depth of the treadreaches 2/32 inch (1.6 mm). Tires are manufacturedwith tread wear indicators molded into the tire grooveswhich indicate tread wearout. As tires approximate

2/32 inch (1.6 mm) wearout, the tread gauge becomesthinner and more vulnerable to the effects of road haz-ards. Also, worn tires are more subject to hydroplaning, which can cause loss of control. Therefore, visual tireinspection becomes more crucial as the tires wear out.

WORN TIRESNever drive on worn tires. Tires should be replaced bytrained personnel when 2/32nds of an inch tread depthremains, as indicated by the tread wear indicatorsmolded into the tread grooves. In most states, it is illegalto drive with less than 2/32nds of an inch of treadremaining.

TIRE MIXINGFor best performance select tires similar in size andload rating to the original equipment tires. It is recom-mended that the same size and type of tire be used onall four wheel positions. In certain tires, casing plymaterial and ply construction may vary as indicated onthe sidewall of the tire. When changing or replacingtires, it is preferred that all four tires are the sameconstruction type (i.e., High Performance, All Season,Mud & Snow) and construction (Radial or Bias Ply). Before mixing tires of different types on a vehicle in anyconfiguration, be sure to check the vehicle OWNER’SMANUAL for its recommendations.

Tires which meet the Rubber Manufacturer’s Associa-tion (RMA) definition of mud and snow tires are markedM/S, M+S, M&S. On such tires, this designation ismolded into the sidewall. Tires without this notation arenot recommended for mud and/or snow driving.

If snow tires are needed, it is necessary to select tiresequivalent in size and load rating to the original equipment

tires. Always fit performance snow tires in sets of four (4)for optimum mud & snow traction and maintenance ofvehicle handling characteristics. If you do not, it mayadversely affect the safety and handling of your vehicle. Itis also important to check the vehicle OWNER’SMANUAL before mixing or matching tires on 4-wheel drivevehicles as this may require special precautions.

Please refer to your OWNER’S MANUAL for moreinformation on tire replacement precautions.

TIRE ROTATIONTires on your Nissan vehicle should be rotated every7,500 miles or as irregular wear develops. If irregularwear becomes apparent or if the wear rate on the tires isperceptibly uneven, the tires should be rotated in such away to alleviate the problem. Check your vehicle for anymechanical problems and correct if necessary. Anyrotation pattern or procedure may be followed includingthose indicated in the OWNER’S MANUAL. Some tireshave arrows on the sidewall showing the direction inwhich the tire should turn. When rotating this type oftire, care must be taken to maintain the proper turningdirection as indicated by the arrows. Some vehicleshave different tire sizes specified for front and rearaxles. Tires on these vehicles should not be rotated sideto side (unless they are non-directional). Where a tem-porary type spare tire is available, it should not beincluded in the tire rotation schedule. Such tires areintended for temporary use only. Whenever only twotires are replaced, the new tires should be put on therear axle of vehicles equipped with the same size tire onall four wheel positions.

TIRE ALTERATIONSDo not perform any alterations on your tires. Alterationsmay prevent proper performance, leading to tire dam-age, which can result in an accident. Tires which be-come unserviceable due to alterations such as truing, whitewall inlays, addition of balancing or sealant liquids, may be excluded from warranty coverage. Consult yourtire warranty.

TIRE STORAGEAll tires should be stored in a cool dry place indoors sothat there is no danger of water collecting inside them.

When tires are stored they should be stored in a coolplace away from sources of heat and ozone such as hotpipes and electric generators. Be sure that surfaces onwhich tires are stored are clean and free from grease, gasoline or other substances which could deterioratethe rubber. (Tires exposed to these materials duringstorage or driving could be subject to sudden failure.)

To Avoid Damage to your Tires and PossibleAccident:● Check tire pressure at least once a month when

tires are cold and before long trips.● Do not underinflate/overinflate.● Do not overload.● Drive at moderate speeds, observe legal limits.● Avoid driving over potholes, obstacles, curbs or

edges of pavement.● Avoid excessive wheel spinning.● If you see any damage to a tire, replace with

spare and see the tire manufacturer’s dealer oryour Nissan dealership.
