On May 29, 2015, Sergeant Palmer, Corporal Schneberger and Officer Silgjord participated in the event Last Day of School event at Queen of Peace School. Commander Randall attended the Minnesota State Drug Court Conference in Minneapolis from June 2nd through the 4th. Carlton County is now one of 52 drug courts in 50 counties in Minnesota. The conference covered: best practices standards, current State, and National drug trends, accessing family needs in adult drug court, substance use disorders and mental health and cognitive challenges, motivational interviewing, performance management, peer support, and compassion fatigue. On June 1st through the 4th, Officers Kohlmeyer, Johnson, Voltzke, Silgjord, Corporals Fiske and Baker, and Detective Berg all completed the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) training and certification. Congrats to all on their accomplishments and we are looking forward to the start of our bicycle patrol unit.

Personnel assisted with the construction project that starts on June 8, 2015 on Big Lake Road by placing the CPD speed trailer near the beginning of the construction zone, between Pinewood and Trettle Lane. • Cloquet Police Department Weekly Newsletter Page 2 Officer also periodically work speed enforcement with the help of the speed trailer. We have created a Nixle SMS/Email notification for area construction projects. Citizens can sign up for road construction alerts and updates by texting the word CLOQUETCONST to 888777. The alerts are free. Cell carrier rates/fees may apply. Over the past week, we have received several calls for Damage to Vehicles in the City as well as a vandalism call at Washington Elementary School. Multiple windows have been broken out of vehicles, and a window appears to have been broken at the school with the use of some small colored BBs or ceramic balls.

The public is asked to contact the Cloquet Police Department if they have any information about these cases. You can text-a-tip by texting TIP CLOQUETPD and your message, to 888777. This week we began the implementation of the new evidence tracking software, as we transition to our new evidence processing procedures. The new protocols and processes should help streamline our intake process and increase our evidence management capabilities. This is a phased rollout that should be completely operational in the next few weeks once current evidence is added into the system, and personnel are familiarized with the updates.

Lastly, on June 6, 2015 shortly after 8:00 am, Corporal Blesener was dispatched to the 10 block of 3rd Street for a Criminal Damage to Property complaint. The landlord of the house reported a broken window, damage to the exterior of the house, and noted a substantial amount of blood around the property. During the investigation, it was determined that a man who was sleeping on the third floor of the house rolled out of a bed that was located next to the bedroom window. The man fell out of the window onto a railing and later to the ground. Finding the exterior door to the house locked, the man broke a window to gain reentry back into the house where he attempted to seek emergency assistance for the injuries he sustained in the fall and lacerations later caused while breaking the window. The man was taken to the Community Memorial Hospital prior to the officers arrival at the scene. Based on the information discovered during the investigation, the man was not charge at the time. The landlord and the tenant are making arrangements to resolve the damages to the house that occurred during the incident. Respectfully submitted,
