Dear Colleagues-

Last year, California YMCA Youth & Government had a record year of participation in both our high school program (MLC) and our middle school program (MUN) thanks to all of you. In order to adequately accommodate the needs and requests, we have put together the following information for you.

2016-2017 GROWTH

At this time there is no restriction to the growth of MUN delegates. I do ask, however, that if you are planning on significantly higher numbers than last year to please notify me by October 28th.

This year we will be conducting Advisor and Volunteer Training specifically for MUN. As with MLC delegations, at least one advisor from each delegation will be required to attend. The risk management requirements for MLC will apply for MUN delegations as well.

PROGRAM FEE SUMMARY

Attached is the fee summary for the coming year. We have also increased our scholarship capabilities for your individual delegates and delegations as a whole that have the need to apply.

RISK MANAGEMENT

California YMCA Youth & Government has hired a Logistics & Risk Manager to assist with assuring we offer the safest environment for our delegates. In your Delegation Participation Agreement, you will be asked to guarantee the following for all advisors accompanying your delegates:

• All delegations are required to have at least one advisor attend the Advisor andVolunteer Training.

• All advisors must have current fingerprinting on file with your YMCA or school.Should a delegation need to switch out an advisor for any reason, there will needto be accompanying paperwork stating that the advisor has in fact be fingerprintedthrough their given YMCA or school.

• All advisors will be required to show their ID upon arrival at eachconference. This measure is to ensure that we know who is actually on site withyour delegates.

This year, we will also be ramping up security at conferences. Upon arrival, delegations will be provided with evacuation plans for each building delegates will occupy. Each Program Volunteer will be provided with a detailed list of each delegate participating in his or her program area for each session.

The entire California YMCA Youth & Government team is looking forward to a fantastic 2016/2017-program year! Should any of you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Warm Regards-
