About the Course

5

The marathon course takes marathoners from the foothills of the Chugach Mountains on the east side of Anchorage, to Delaney Park alongside downtown and the steely waters of Cook Inlet on the west - offering breathtaking scenery to stimulate the senses and take one's worries off physical exertion. The marathon course is certified by USA Track and Field and finishers can use their results to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

The Alaska Half Marathon Starts and ends on Delaney Park with an out-and-back course past Earthquake Park near Point Woronzof.

Featured In Alaska Coast Magazine “The Anchorage Mayor’s Marathon is synonymous to solstice in Alaska. It’s a race whose history dates back more than 40 years as a way to celebrate the endless daylight (and, if we’re lucky, sunshine!) on the longest day of the year.”

Alaska's outdoor adventure magazine. Locally owned, written and operated, and chock-full of all the fun things Alaskans love to do!

About the Expo •The Anchorage Mayor’s Marathon & Half Marathon, presented by ConocoPhillips, is teaming this year with Providence Alaska Medical Center and Healthy Futures to present the second annual Alaska Health & Fitness Expo, June 16-17, at the Alaska Airlines Center.

•In addition to last-minute registration and bib pick-up, this year’s Expo has been greatly expanded to include a multitude of activities for racers and non-racers alike. Along with more than 60 exhibitors and vendors, the event will feature an outdoor farmer’s market, free health screenings, and the return of the Healthy Futures Kid’s Mile run. There will also be free workshops and demonstrations that will focus on health and fitness, plus the chance to check out the Alaska Airlines Center’s full-service restaurant, the Varsity Sports Grill.

•Making its debut in 2016 is the Varsity Sports Grill Pub Run – June 17, 2015. This is a free, social run that is untimed. Participants can start at their leisure between 5-6 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Center main parking lot. Runners will be taken on a course that loops around University Lake and then finishes in the Grill. Free door prizes will be raffled off throughout the evening.
