Artis Yancey HBCU Tour 2016 Presented by Waukegan Township & Partners

Dress Code policy

Because you will be representing Waukegan Township & Partners, it is vital that you “look

the part”. To ensure that everyone is DRESSED FOR SUCCESS, we have developed a

guideline to assist you in determining what is and is not appropriate for most situations.

Below are examples of ACCEPTABLE and UNACCEPTABLE options:

Slacks that are similar to Dockers or Khakis and other cotton or wool, pants as well as

dressy capris, and nice looking jeans and dress pants are acceptable. NO SAGGING PER-

MITTED. We will be visiting the southern part of the country, therefore, walking shorts, or

shorts that are knee level, are appropriate. Sweatpants, exercise pants, Bermuda shorts,

short shorts, leggings, and any spandex or other form-fitting pants would be considered in-

appropriate.

Casual dresses and skirts, and skirts that are split at or below the knee are acceptable.

Dress and skirt length should be at a length at which you can sit comfortably in public. Sun

dresses, beach dresses, and spaghetti-strap dresses are ONLY appropriate if they are worn

with a jacket, sweater or “shrug” . Short, tight skirts that ride halfway up the thigh are in-

appropriate. Mini-skirts, some skorts, are inappropriate.

Casual shirts, dress shirts, sweaters, tops, golf-type shirts, and turtlenecks are acceptable

attire. Inappropriate attire includes tank tops; midriff tops; shirts with potentially offen-

sive words, terms, logos, pictures, cartoons, or slogans; halter-tops; tops with bare shoul-

ders; sweatshirts, and t-shirts unless worn under another blouse, shirt, jacket, or dress.

Conservative athletic or walking shoes, loafers, clogs, sneakers, boots, flats, dress heels, and

leather deck-type shoes are acceptable. Thongs, flip-flops, slippers, are not acceptable.

Makeup, perfumes and colognes should be in good taste, with limited visible body piercing.

Remember, that some individuals are allergic to the chemicals in perfumes and make-up, so

wear these substances lightly and tastefully.

Hats are not appropriate during presentations and inside buildings. Head Covers that are

required for religious purposes or to honor cultural tradition are allowed.
