A Message from General Manager - Steve Plummer

January 2016 – Looking forward to a Great New Year! From all of us at Tustin Ranch Golf Club, we hope that everyone enjoyed a safe and fruitful holiday. Over the Christmas to New Year season, though slightly cool for our area, the weather for golfing was very accommodating. We thank all of our regulars and Members for selecting Tustin Ranch Golf Club as the place to enjoy your outdoor recreation and golf. It was very enjoyable to get through the past couple weeks without experiencing the wrath of the predicted El Nino. We truly wish to get the predicted rainfall in necessary amounts, but during the evening hours and on non-premier golf days – we can only hope for the best. As the 2016 year kicks-off, we are very excited about all the activities and upcoming events we’re planning for the Membership and the Tustin Ranch local community. Our first major event of the year is the beginning of our 2016 Comedy Night series on Friday, January 22nd featuring Craig Shoemaker – “The Lovemaster.” Craig was our best comic on-stage at Tustin Ranch several years ago, and you won’t want to miss this great night of fun and entertainment (they say laughing is good for your health – so visit the website to reserve your spot). We also begin Phase II of our clubhouse remodel, and have an aggressive schedule for mid-January into early February. We will be including a few secret finishing touches in and around the main Dining Room and Bar; and most available resources in this phase will focus on the Player’s Lounge and Bar area. We are very pumped up about this next portion of our remodel, and hope to unveil the majority of what’s in store for 2016 at the upcoming Member Appreciation Night (keep an eye on the website and any new calendar notices for dates and times). Our schedule to

complete the work is very aggressive once we begin, so it’s hoped to be completed in time to show our appreciation. We hope our members will make plans to attend this very popular evening. Finally, with the recent years of drought, and our efforts for water conservation, we did make the decision to promote a warm season, drought-tolerant bermudagrass golf course – and not overseed the roughs this winter (to provide definition, we’ve been applying pigment to the fairways for color). As previously stated, the winter weather seems to be much cooler than past years, so the bermudagrass in the golf course roughs has gone into a deeper state of dormancy than in the past – resulting in the off color for the winter. We do appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we implement these programs to provide a more consistent, long-term product year-round. The dormant bermudagrass actually provides a very good playing surface. Under the circumstances, we are confident the promotion of a bermudagrass golf course for this 2 to 3 month period will make for a more durable, drought-tolerant and con-sistent playing surface for the majority of the warm weather golfing season.
