You’ll want to do all that you can to get the word out, share the news, and generate interest and enthusiasm for the presentation(s) you will be making. Make a Plan
Make your plan now … before you arrive at the 2016 NGH Convention. Review the sessions offered in this year’s extensive curriculum. Plan ahead to ensure you make the most effective use of every precious minute you spend at the NGH Convention. By preplanning, you’ll maximize your learning experience. Just as importantly, the process will help you crystalize your own goals and objectives, making it easier for you to keep your eye on your true targets as you advance in your profession.
3. Decide which of these best matches your personal learning goals.
4. Once you have your agenda for attending the Convention, fill in the appropriate information on the Registration
Form. (See pages 3 and 4 of your 2016 Convention Catalog)
5. After you’ve made your final selections, list each session on a separate sheet of paper.
6. Write your specific objectives/goals for attendance.
7. Then, make a list of questions you’d like to have the presenter answer or discuss with other attendees.
Page 4 1. You’ll find room assignments for the sessions in the SCHEDULE-AT-A-GLANCE you’ll receive at
check in.
2. You may attend any of the listed Seminars or free workshops (unshaded) without extra charge.
3. Your tickets for the workshops you have selected are included in your badge holder. Please check
these immediately; admission to all workshops is by ticket only.
4. If you would like to add workshops to your schedule, you may still do so up until all seats for the
Workshop have been taken. The cost is $25 for each added 2- or 3-hour Workshop. Complete the
WORKSHOP ACQUISITION FORM and take it to the NGH Registration table (located in the Lobby
Courtyard). Note: The discounted rate applies only when purchasing five tickets at one time, not
when adding 1 or more to quantities purchased earlier.
5. If you need to change a Workshop for which you own a ticket, choose another Workshop, fill out
the WORKSHOP ACQUISITION FORM, and turn it in to the NGH Registration table with the unused
ticket prior to start-time of the Workshop.

NGH Convention Tips These tips are from the 32-page
Day-at-a-Glance you will receive when checking in at the Convention. When your receive your Day-at-a-Glance, be sure you review it thoroughly and keep it for reference throughout the Convention.
Page 5 6. Your banquet ticket is in your badge holder. Don’t lose the ticket! You must have your ticket to
attend the banquet. Vegetarian tickets must be obtained at the NGH Registration desk prior to the
banquet. Lost tickets can only be replaced through the purchase of another one. The Banquet will be
held in the Trade Center, followed by the Awards program. After the awards, stay with us to dance and
socialize.
7. Wear YOUR BADGE. Admittance to Seminars and Exhibit Area is open only to Convention attendees
and staff who are wearing their badges.
8. You will be presented with a “mini-evaluation Form” at each Seminar and Workshop. Please add your
comments and turn in to the host at the end of each presentation. These Evaluation Forms will help
determine next year’s convention faculty.
9. WIN A FREE CONVENTION 2017!!! You have a CONVENTION EVALUATION FORM included in the
packet for your over-all feedback about how we did. Please turn it in at the NGH Registration Center
(located in the Lobby Courtyard) before you go home and before 3:00 p.m. Sunday. You’ll find a locked
Treasure Chest in which there are several cash prizes as well as the First Prize: 2017 Convention FREE.
When you turn in the 2016 Convention Evaluation, select one of the keys to try your luck. There will be
five INSTANT WINNERS.
10. LITERATURE will be available on the LITERATURE TABLES D2 and E2 in the exhibit room. If you
have literature you wish to share, please place it there; the Best Western has asked that we not scatter
promotional literature throughout the hotel for fire safety reasons.
11. AGAIN THIS YEAR: The audio CDs are being edited prior to duplication. The goal is to maximize
the value and quality to the listener by removing most non-essential chatter, dead air and gaps during
the sessions. CD order form should be taken to the NGH Registration Center beginning Saturday
afternoon. See pages 13-17 of your 2016 Day-at-a-Glance for details.
12. The complete Convention manual is provided free on the CD in your packet.
13. KINDLY NOTICE - professional audio taping in progress; no personal audio or video
recording is allowed. Pictures are routinely taken at the Convention for broadcast and other
distribution. Be aware: Attendance at this Convention will be deemed consent to the use of
your pictures, audio and/or video recordings in such distribution.
14. AS IS THE CASE with most professional associations, it is our policy for members and attendees to
refrain from public demonstrations and/or sessions in the hotel hallways, lobby and byways.
15. EXPECTING A MESSAGE OR NEED TO LEAVE A MESSAGE? Use the Convention Message Board
located near the Front Desk.
16. PLEASE NOTE: No pets or children allowed in seminar and workshop rooms. Service dogs are
exempt.
17. PLEASE make sure all cell phones are turned off or on vibrate during presentations.
