family of vibratory finishing machines, the HR Series has evolved since its original patent notoriety of being the first round bowl internalseparation machine. The HR is a heavy duty machine that can be customized with a wide variety of standard and special options that gives the customer a full range of processing possibilities – from minimal human involvement to a fully automatic system for a hands off operation.

HR COMBOVIBRATORY FINISHING MACHINES
The HR Combo Series features the same structural design as the HR Series machines, but also adds a second chamber for parts drying. This structure utilizes the same tank head design for structural integrity. The addition of the second chamber to the outside of the process area reduces costs and floor space. With unload gates available for both the processing and drying channel, this is one of our most versatile machines.

The HR Spiratron® Flat Bottom machines are ideal for large component finishing. Used for batch processing, the machine is loaded and unloaded by piece by hand. For small parts and part on part, it is unloaded through the unload plug or door. NOTE: Some applications are possible with a magnetic belt separator.

MULTI-PASS®
VIBRATORY FINISHING MACHINES
Hammond Roto-Finish Multi-Pass® machines are unique in the mass finishing industry. A Multi-Pass® machine can operate in a continu-ous operation or it may be used as a batch process machine. What makes the finishing power so unique? A part is surrounded by a finishing media with space between itself and other parts. On a continuous basis a new part is introduced to the Multi-Pass® machine within an interval such as from a grinder. This part then moves through the channel maintaining that same interval from the next part introduced. This first in - first out sequencing ensures lot integrity.
The Multi-Pass® machine also features internal separation, which keeps the process media inside the process chamber. Media classification is also available within the process/separation area. This eliminates the need for messy external separators and media return conveyors.

ACCESSORIES
The Multi-Pass® machine can also operate as a continuous process machine using part to media ratios used in conventional processes. The example shown at left is producing 1,400 pieces per minute continuously.
The Multi-Pass® is also available as a MPC (Combo) which offers the potential for a drying channel on the process bowl. This again reduces the need for external systems requiring more floor space.
Other available features for the Multi-Pass® are a Gazebo Sound Cover (frame pictured) for noise reduction and an External Parts Washer.

What is V-Max®:The Hammond Roto-Finish V-Max® series vibratory finishing machines are a new development invibratory mass finishing.
The V-Max® machine is based on the design of the “HR” machines built by Hammond Roto-Finish. The main component of the HR bowl is the certified pressure vessel that forms the bottom of the bowl, with the completed weldment the bowl structure is a “dome”. The weldment design and vibratory drive design allow the V-Max® bowl to operate at speeds no other vibratory bowl can match.
The design of the bowl and drive in conventional
machines create “bounce” within the media that
translates into air time between the media and part.
In the redesigned V-Max®, the force of the machine is
more directly applied to the media, putting more
energy into the roll of the media. The roll, visually
apparent while the machine is running, creates a
dramatically increased media-on-part contact time.
This is demonstrated in the amplitude difference of
the machines.
The increased contact time, along with the increased
force of the higher RPM, is the cause of the reduced
cycle time.
This graph is for an 8 hour steel part in ceramic media test. The 50% reduction in cycle time is consistent in other tests.

The Roto-Max® line are a series of centrifugal energy machines. The machine functions with a rotating disc or spinner in the bottom of the finishing chamber, and a stationary wall that the rotating disc meets with a preci-sion gap.
The part and media mix is pushed outward on the rotat-ing disc to the stationary sidewall. As the media is pushed, pressure builds and pushes the media and parts upward on the sidewall until the media falls back to the center of the rotating disc in a cyclonic action. This smooth and continuous motion produces an energy level up to 15 times greater than normal vibratory finishing systems.
Roto-Max® utilizes an Up-Flow® compound and water system which cools the gap between the disc and the wear-ring or sidewall moving abrasive debris upward and out of the finishing chamber through a sidewall drain.

Roto-Max® Centrifugal Disc Machines are used in a wide variety of applications. Because the machine is a high energy machine…it works well with smaller parts with small media structures. Roto-Max® can remove flash from O-ring and other seal material shapes, medical devices and implant components, aerospace alloy materials, firearm components, coins, automotive parts and many more.
The Roto-Max® has a unique compound delivery system in the centrifugal disc market. The patented process is calledUp Flow®. The name is derived from the compound being added to the bowl from under the media, and the resulting waste then exiting through a drain near the top of the media.
This Up Flow® technology, along with the adjustable seal gap height, greatly lengthen the life of the seal gap over other centrifu-gal disc machines. The greatest wear to the urethane lining are the particulates that come off the parts and media as it wears. With down flow compound, the particu-lates are sent through the lining.
Up Flow® technology significantly reduces the wear on the urethane, so can expect to have more ‘up time’ a with Roto-Max® centrifugal disc than other centrifugal disc machines.

CENTRIFUGAL FINISHING MACHINES
The Roto-Max® Revolution is a new patented “all-in-one” machine from Hammond Roto-Finish. The Revolution features the RM-2 or RM-6 centrifugal disc section integrated into a machine that has one main moving pivot point which, depending on which feature is activated, will move the process bowl to empty the media and part mixture onto the built-in separator. This built-in separator is also the return media hopper, so the media is automatically reloaded into the process chamber to start the operation over again.
The Roto-Max® Revolution is compact and can be easily expanded to accept added features for material handling, or secondary processing steps.

SPINDLE FINISHING MACHINES
The Versa-Flow Spin-Finish Machine is a very high energy finishing system.
The machine uses a spinning tub of media that is either a very aggressive abrasive to remove heavy burrs from a work piece…or a very fine wet or dry polishing media for producing a very high color, or a low ra surface finish. Parts that are processed in the Spin-Finish are normally parts that: cannot have part-on-part contact; are high value parts; or where a lean manufacturing single part flow is needed.
The tub revolves at a range of speeds dictated by the need of aggression, the need of a more gentle action, or a light slurry. As the tub spins, it creates centrifugal energy and surface feet. The combination of the two create a dramatic combination of forces on the surface of the work-piece which is very effective in removing burrs and producing very low Ra surfaces. The centrifugal force produced by the spinning tub and weight of the media provides a form fitting abrasive mass moving around the work-piece.

Roto-Fuge wastewater minimization units are designed to work with tumbling barrels, vibratory bowls or tubs and centrifugal finishing systems. The Roto-Fuge generates centrifugal forces up to 2000 times the pull of gravity to remove particles from the waste stream. The particulate remains as sludge in the basket liner and is easily removed. The solution is usually suitable for re-use or may be discharged to drain, if permitted. Optional agitation and floccula-tion systems generate clear solution for reuse in the finishing process.
The system consists of a stainless steel tank divided into three sections. Each section is connected by weirs to optimize system operation. Wastewater is introduced to the first section where solids are allowed to settle. In the second section, the fluid is agitated and pumped into the centrifuge located above this section. Centrifugal forces push the particulate from the solution and deposit it in the removable basket liner. The "filtered" solution flows into the third section (or supply tank) and is ready to be returned to the finishing process or drain.
The standard units, Model 13 and Model 26, are semi-automatic and will run unattended for prolonged periods without supervision. A simple auto select and process start are all that is required for operation. Cleaning of the basket liner is a manual operation and can be performed in approximately 15 minutes. The fully automatic Model 26A will clean itself without operator involvement.

An Automatic Machine may be as simple as a one or two head brushing operation... or, as involved as a multiple station, multi-head function. We can create whatever it takes to achieve your end goal.
An Automatic Machine is a machine that receives a part from an operator. The part may be loaded into a load station. Once the part is loaded, the operator will press the cycle button and the machine will perform a predetermined timed process. This may involve buffing, polishing, grind-ing, brushing or any other surface changing operation that the machine is designed for.
An Automatic Machine has some flexibility for changing the process... however, the amount of change is limited.

The cyclone (DK) models range between 500 and 800 CFM. These DK models incorporate the centrifugal precipitation and gravitation principle. The heavier particles are deposited in the dirtcontainer. The finer particles are captured in the bag(s). Each bag a zipper in the bottom for dust removal.
CABINET MODELThe cabinet model is rated at 700 CFM. It is compact and suitable for light or intermittent dust collecting applications. The cabinet model is recommended for pedestal grinders or small abrasive belt grinders.
Hammond Roto-Finish Independent DusKolectors™ solve the dust and dirt problem for isolated machines which can not be connected to a central dust collecting system or where no central system is available. Perfect for restricted spaces, the DusKolector™ draws the dirty air inside itself where the heavier particles are deposited in a dirt container. The air then goes through filters, which remove the finer particles, and the filtered air is then returned to the room. There is no waste of energy exhausting heated or cooled air to the outside of the building.
