Each Caldera spa integrates proven components and technology in an exceptionally designed package to provide Pure Comfort®, Pure Performance and Pure Style. This product knowledge guide is organized according to these three important benefit categories, reflecting the sequence recommended for sales presentations. In this guide, we have attempted to cover every detail of Caldera spas for the benefit of the salesperson so that he or she will know the answers to virtually any question that may arise. However, the salesperson is advised that much of the information contained here should not be used in a typical sales presentation. In other words, it is one thing to know “how to get technical,” but it is more important to understand “how technical to get.” Remember the sales adage: “People buy for emotional reasons, and they justify it with rational reasons.” Striking the appropriate balance is the key.

This part of the presentation is best done at a dry spa. If the shopper has given you information that indicates a preference for a certain model, use that model for this section. If not, begin with the Paradise® Series Makena® model. This allows you to go either up or down in both size and price from there. Notice that this part of the product demonstration begins with the seats, moves to the foot-well, then to the features on the bar top of the spa and finishes with jet placement. By all means, encourage the shopper to get into the dry spa to feel the comfort of the seating as you describe it. If the shopper will not get into the spa, you need to get in and demonstrate what you are describing. SEATING Seating Contoured to Bodies Flat seats and straight sidewalls simply aren’t comfortable! The intentional contours in the seats of Caldera spas account for the effects of buoyancy and are designed to cradle the user’s body. Notice that the seat bottoms are cupped; the seat backs are gently curved along with the lounge’s smoothly contoured recesses for the legs, allowing virtually every size of user to relax in Pure Comfort.. Angles and Dimensions Conducive to Relaxation in Water The angles and dimensions of the seats in Caldera spas provide for easy relaxation in the buoyancy of water. Careful attention is paid to the three key anchor points: 1) head and shoulders, 2) posterior, and 3) feet. Another critical factor is the design of the lounge. Notice that the lounges in Caldera spas are designed so that the torso is more upright than in most spas’ lounges. In lounges that cause the user to be more reclined, the effects of buoyancy and the powerful jets can make it difficult to stay in place. Seat and Tread Depth The dimensions of the seats in Caldera spas are strategically calculated to allow people of virtually all heights to comfortably enjoy the full benefits of hydro-massage. The seat tread of the lounge seats are precisely sculpted allowing for comfort and a better user experience. Notice the depth of all other seat treads—the distance from the back of the seat to the front. This allows taller people to rest their head on the cushioned headrests without slipping off the front edge of the seat. Spacious Foot well Regardless of how many seating positions a spa has, in many cases it is the size of the foot well that ultimately determines how many people can comfortably use the spa simultaneously without being forced to “play footsies.” Foot Ridge® Support Our unique Foot Ridge support helps users remain stationary while the powerful jets work their magic. This feature was developed based on our extensive testing program. In test spas without the Foot Ridge support, users – especially those under about 5’ 6” tall –tended to float when the jets were turned on causing them to struggle to stay in their seat. The solution was to provide a ridge against which they could anchor their feet. This comfort feature makes Caldera spas much more thoughtfully designed for shorter people than other brands. Assist Bar The built-in assist bar, in Utopia® and Paradise® models, is thoughtfully located to help users get in and out of the lounge or corner seat. Contoured Pillows In most models, soft, attractive, contoured pillows cushion the user’s head for maximum comfort.

JET TYPES Euphoria® Jet These jets are uniquely designed to put out more water than comes into them! They do this by a process known as “entraining.” Here’s how it works: Because the nozzle of these jets is installed in a forward position, the water flowing through the nozzle creates a vacuum around the back of the nozzle. This vacuum causes water to be drawn from the spa through the small oval openings in front, creating 40% more flow from the jet nozzle than the pump actually delivers to it!

OrbiSsage® Jet This jet comes standard in the two shoulder positions of the UltraMassage seat or lounge of the Utopia series spas. It is also available as an aftermarket option for installation in any VersaSsage jet position in these series, as well as Paradise series spas. It uses a dual-port rotator behind a six-hole fascia that provides a unique, pulsating massage. The flow of this jet can be regulated, or turned completely off by simply rotating the bezel (outer ring). VersaSsage® Jet Featured on Utopia and Paradise series spas, the VersaSsage jet can be adjusted to provide a variety of massages. By angling the nozzle to the side, the jet stream rotates, producing a dynamic massaging sensation. The more the nozzle is angled, the wider the path of the rotation. Conversely, the less the nozzle is angled, the tighter the rotation. The flow of this jet can be regulated, or turned completely off by simply rotating the bezel (outer ring). The VersaSsage jet can also be interchanged with the OrbiSsage jet.

AdaptaFlo® & AdaptaSsage® Jets These jets allow the user to adjust the power from the jets simply by rotating the jet face. Shutting off flow to any of these jets increases the flow to other jets. The AdaptaSsage jets, with their dual rotating nozzles, provide a dynamic massaging sensation. AdaptaFlo jets can be easily converted to AdaptaSsage jets by simply replacing the nozzles with the optional dual-port rotating nozzles.

Euro & Euro-Pulse® Jets The small size of the Euro jets allows these jets to be clustered to target specific muscles. Euro-Pulse jets feature a dual-port, rotating nozzle that provides a stimulating, pulsing massage. Euro jets can be converted to Euro-Pulse jets by replacing the directional nozzles with the optional rotating nozzles. Note: The “finger” that holds the rotator on Euro-Pulse jets may be rotated so that their positioning is uniform for a better showroom appearance.

Strategic Jet Placement – Hot Tub Circuit Therapy® (Part 1)

The jets in Caldera spas are strategically located to provide a soothing massage for virtually all of the body’s major muscle groups. This is important because these are the muscles where people typically store tension, and where soreness from physical exertion usually occurs. At a fitness center, a personal trainer guides a person through a series of exercises to work a wide variety of muscle groups. This is called “circuit training.” Similarly, sitting in the various seats in a Caldera spa provides what we call Hot Tub Circuit Therapy. This is because each seat has its own unique configuration of specific types of jets to provide a distinctively different massage. Because people buy benefits—as opposed to features—be sure to emphasize and clearly describe what each feature in each seat does for the user. An effective way to describe and demonstrate Hot Tub Circuit Therapy is to focus on the muscle groups massaged by the jets, beginning at the neck and proceeding to the feet.



Note: The following covers all of the Hot Tub Circuit Therapy features found on the Utopia series models. If you are demonstrating Hot Tub Circuit Therapy on a different model, the descriptions of some of the seats and/or jets will be somewhat different.

Hot Tub Circuit Therapy Stations UltraMassage™ – Relax into the lounge or seat (varies by model) to receive a soothing massage to your neck, shoulders, and middle back. The UltraMassage lounge in the Cantabria® model also features four Euro jets that provide massage for the calves.

EcstaSeat® – This seat has multiple jets that focus on the large muscles in your back. Select

models also feature jets for your wrists and/or calves. Notice that rotational Euro-Pulse jets are used only in the armrest locations of selected models. These provide pulsating massage therapy for the wrists and hands and serve to disperse the jet stream to prevent annoying splashing in front of the user’s face.

Atlas® Neck Massage System – On the Cantabria®, Geneva® and Niagara® models, a soft, contoured pillow cradles your head and neck while specialized, adjustable above-the-water-line jets massage just the right spot on your neck or shoulders. A conveniently located valve regulates the flow to the Atlas neck jet system, while the LumbarSsage® seat jets remain fully powered.

LumbarSsage Seat – Low back pain is a problem for millions of people. Whether it's a chronic problem or something that occurs every now and then, this seat has a unique jet configuration that kneads your lumbar region to relieve tension and pain. It is our belief that no other spas provide such effective treatment for lower back ailments. Therefore, if you determine that your shopper suffers from lower back pain, effectively demonstrating this seat can give you an advantage that is very difficult for your competitors to overcome. Euphoria® Jet – This jet provides a deep, powerful, penetrating massage to your thighs, knees, calves, and feet.

Sole Soothers® –The field of Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet that correspond to the glands, organs, and other parts of the body, and that stimulating these reflexes properly can reduce stress and promote healthy physiological changes in the body.

Hydro-massage – Hot Tub Circuit Therapy (Part 2) For this part of the presentation, move to your operating (wet) model that is most similar to the dry model you demonstrated above. This is a great opportunity to reinforce the points you made about Hot Tub Circuit Therapy when you were showing the dry spa. Be sure to have a clean, dry towel handy and encourage shoppers to put their arms in the water to experience the feel of the jets.

Diverter Valves Most Caldera models feature diverter valves that allow the flow from the pump(s) to be

directed among the various seats in the spa. These are also used to regulate the amount of pressure delivered by the various groups of jets.

A diverter valve may be positioned to deliver water only to either of the jet systems it

serves, or it may be positioned at any point in between these two extremes. You need to be familiar with which diverter valves work with which pumps and what groups of jets each controls on every model.

Air Controls These regulate the amount of air mixed with water flow at the jets, thereby controlling the amount of pressure or

force felt from the jets. You need to be familiar with which air controls operate which groups of jets on every model. UltraMasseuse® System This luxurious massaging system found only in the UltraMassage lounge on the

Utopia Cantabria model provides a variety of massage sequences that the user can select to customize the hydrotherapy experience. Much like the massage chairs found in specialty shops, the UltraMasseuse system is unique and found on a very limited number of spas in the industry. It’s a great differentiator.

Jet Pumps Highly reliable and energy-efficient ReliaFlo® jet pumps are selected for each model

to provide optimum flow based on the number and types of jets each pump powers. The Utopia® and Vacanza® series spas, as well as the Paradise® series Makena®, Salina® and Martinique® spas, include a two-speed pump that provides gentle, low speed circulation as an alternative to the high speed jet massage.

EASY CARE Caldera spas are designed to be among the easiest to care for in the industry.

EnergyPro® Circulation Pump This highly efficient pump is the heart of Utopia and Paradise series spas. It operates continuously filtering the water and mixing ozone with the water—all for less than the cost to operate a 75-watt light bulb. Filtration In Utopia and Paradise series models, the EnergyPro pump continuously filters the water. This results in nearly 6,000 gallons of water being drawn through the filter each day. So the entire volume of water is filtered between thirteen and thirty times daily, depending on the model. In the Vacanza series models, because the jet pump is used to filter the water, the control system features independent filter cycle programming. This feature allows for the duration of each filter cycle to be independently set. The default for filter cycle one is 1.0 hours, and the default for filter cycle two is 30 minutes. To change the duration of the filter cycles, follow the operational instructions in the Owner’s Manual. Floating Skimmer Weir & Basket Because most of the fine particles suspended in spa water are lighter than water, they will eventually rise to the surface of the water. If these are not removed, they can cause an unsightly “bath tub ring” on the interior of the spa shell at the water level. The floating skimmer weir in Caldera spas is designed to automatically adjust to varying water levels to effectively remove surface debris, minimizing the bathtub ring effect. Skimming occurs when jet pump #1 is activated — i.e., during use, and when either the automatic or manual cleanup cycles operate. Additionally, the skimmer basket is designed to catch any large debris that would otherwise get caught in the filter.

Filters The filters in Caldera spas are made of woven polyester fibers and are designed to remove tiny particles suspended in the water as it passes through. The effective filter area for all Caldera spas is:

FROG Water Care System All Caldera spas feature the built-in FROG water care housing system. Water care is simple and much easier with the optional FROG Mineral and Bromine system. FROG uses a combination of specially formulated minerals and bromine to help ensure the spa’s water is soft and crystal clear. And, it uses up to 50% less bromine than conventional methods. Each spa has a housing molded into the spa shell that holds the FROG mineral and bromine cartridges. To install the bromine and mineral cartridges, ensure all jet pumps are off and simply open the cap of the built-in housing compartment, insert the mineral and bromine cartridges, close the cap and FROG will continually dose the water. Caldera spas can also use the Monarch® Corona Discharge (CD) Ozone Generator with or without the FROG system. The Monarch CD Ozone Generator is factory-installed on all Utopia series spas. However, the Monarch water care system, as described below, is optional on Paradise spas. The Monarch CD Ozone Generator operates continuously to mix highly concentrated ozone with the water as it travels through a contact chamber on its way back to the spa. Organic contaminants are instantly oxidized, helping to keep the water clean and fresh. NOTE: If using the Monarch CD Ozone Generator without FROG, it is highly recommended to use the Monarch Silver Ion Purifier with the Monarch CD Ozone Generator. The Monarch Silver cartridge releases silver ions into the water to help control bacteria. Please note that the Monarch Silver Ion cartridge is designed to be used with MPS (non-chlorine shock) and/or Dichlor only. It is not recommended for use with bromine or Biguanides. Monarch Water Care System The Monarch Water Care System is comprised of the Monarch Corona Discharge (CD) Ozone Generator, the Monarch Silver Ion Purifier, the Monarch MPS or MPS Plus Oxidizer, and Monarch MPS Test Strips. These private labeled products are available only from Caldera dealers. Monarch Silver cartridge releases silver ions into the water to help control bacteria. There are three different types of ozone generators used in portable spas today: Ultraviolet (UV), Chip-type Corona Discharge and Cell-type Corona Discharge. The advanced design of the cell-type Monarch CD Ozone System provides two major advantages over other ozone generators:

Minimal Maintenance Because the output of the ultraviolet lamp in UV ozone systems diminishes over time, this lamp must be replaced by a service technician about every two to three years, often at a significant cost. Similarly, chip-style CD ozone generators require that a service technician clean or replace the corona discharge chip every two to three years as the ozone output diminishes. However, the Monarch CD Ozone Generator requires minimal maintenance. Its unique design allows the ozone output level to remain constant for years to come! This saves the spa owner money in the long run.

Higher Output As a general rule, CD ozone generators produce much higher ozone levels than standard UV systems. However, in recent years, a number of new, low-cost CD ozone generators have hit the market. The ozone output from these “chip-style” units is typically around 220 to 250 ppm, which is the same as standard UV ozone generators. By contrast, the Monarch CD Ozone Generator produces 650 to 750 ppm, resulting



in much greater effectiveness. For the spa owner, this means fresh, sparkling clear spa water with less effort and less sanitizer to supplement the ozone. Each Paradise and Vacanza series spa is manufactured so it is ready to accept the optional Monarch CD ozone system as a dealer-installed option.

Spa Cabinets All Utopia spas use the exclusive all-climate Avante™ cabinet designed for years of performance. The unique, ribbed pattern design is enhanced by the rich cabinet colors that give the appearance of high-end furniture, without looking like real wood. And, because of the durability of the spa cabinet material, it comes with a five year warranty against cracking, chipping, or rotting. All Paradise and Vacanza spas use the EcoTech™ cabinet, which combines the aesthetic appeal of real wood with the durability and easy care of rigid polymers. Its rich colors and embossed grain give the handsome appearance of high-quality wood, without the maintenance associated with real wood.

CONVENIENT USE External Drain Valve Utopia and Paradise series spas feature an exclusive external drain valve that allows consumers to drain their spas without removing any door panels. This drain valve uses a Total Positive Seal (with two O-rings) that keeps water 4-5 inches back from the front of the door panel, thereby reducing the likelihood of water freezing inside the valve (something common with most other drain valves). To operate, simply extend drain tube in center, attach garden hose and push drain tube inward to activate water drainage. Easy-Access, Top-Mounted Controls The operation of all of the spas’ components and adjustment of all settings can be done at the conveniently located topside Advent control system. Utopia models include an auxiliary control panel allowing the jets and lights to be controlled from a second location in the spa. For added convenience, the diverter valves lit on the Utopia series models.

Backlit Control Panels The Utopia and Paradise control panel utilizes a graphically vibrant LCD display with intuitive functionality. The auxiliary panel on Utopia Series models are backlit with LED lights for easy nighttime viewing. The Vacanza Series offers a control panel that utilizes an LCD display and is very easy to operate.

Temperature Maintenance During Use Because all Utopia and Paradise series spas feature a 4.0 Kw flow-through heater, the heater can continue to function as needed, even when all other components are operating. On competitor spas with larger heaters, the heater must turn off when two or more other components are operating simultaneously. This could result in the water cooling down below a comfortable temperature when temperature maintenance is needed most—during use! The Utopia Series Cantabria model has three jet pumps. The third jet pump is dedicated solely to the UltraMassage lounge that incorporates the UltraMasseuse system. On a 50 amp service, if all three jet pumps are being used, the heater will turn off. In order to run all three jet pumps and the heater at the same time the spa must be connected to 70-amp service. LIGHT CONTROL Utopia Series – SpaGlo® Multi-zone Lighting System The LIGHTS button activates the light (interior and exterior) and controls its intensity. The lighting system can light four separate zones simultaneously or independently. These four zones include: Diverter Valves; Underwater Lighting and Points-of-Light; Water Features; and Exterior Lighting. If the lights are left on, they will automatically be turned off by the control system after six hours of continuous operation. To set up desired lighting configuration, follow the operational instructions in the Owner’s Manual.



SpaGlo Lighting Daily Automatic On/Off Feature The SpaGlo multi-zone lighting system on Utopia spas can be set to automatically turn on at the same time every day so that the exterior lighting can be enjoyed even when the spa is not in use. NOTE: You must first wait for the time of day you would like the automatic feature to start, then initiate the appropriate steps as outlined in the Owner’s Manual. Paradise & Vacanza Series – Multi-color, Points-of-light System & Color Wheel All Paradise & Vacanza Series spas are illuminated with multi-color points of light and a color wheel. Note that the color wheel is optional on the Vacanza series. The color wheel can rotate through six different radiant colors or remain stationary on one. See operational instructions in the Owner’s Manuals to change color wheel. Summer Timer Mode The “summer timer” mode can be activated during extremely hot summer months if the ambient temperature makes it difficult to maintain water temperatures low enough for comfort. By activating the “summer timer” mode the EnergyPro heater and circulation pump will automatically shut down for an eight-hour period every day that the summer timer is on. This is important because 84% of the electrical energy used to run the circulation pump is transferred into the water as “heat energy.” To activate this feature please review the operating instructions in the Owner’s Manual for the specific series of spas you are presenting. Note that the operating instructions are different for each series of spas.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY & HEAT RETENTION

FiberCor Insulation Material All Caldera spa models are insulated with an innovative insulation product that is completely new to the spa industry. The loose, wool-like fibers fill the space between the spa shell and the cabinet to fully insulate the spa. FiberCor is applied at a two-pound density — which is 4 times greater than the half-pound urethane foam used in most spas—which maximizes energy efficiency and keeps operating costs lower. Insulating Cover Each Caldera spa comes with a thick, insulating cover made of 2.0 lb.-density polystyrene foam (1.5 lb. on spas less than 7’ wide) encased in a high-quality, marine-grade vinyl. This seals the top of the spa to conserve the heat in the water. Efficient Components The highly efficient EnergyPro 1/10 hp circulation pump provides the water circulation necessary for continuous filtration and heat maintenance—all while consuming only 50 watts of electricity (less than a 75 watt light bulb)!

Heat Transference The EnergyPro circulation pump in Utopia and Paradise series spas is 84% electrical energy efficient. This speaks to the electrical energy used to drive the motor/pump and how that energy is “reused” to heat the spa. In other words, 84 cents of every dollar of electrical energy that is used to operate the pump is recaptured into the water as heat. The heat transfer of the pump is so efficient that the heater is seldom called upon for maintenance heat, depending on ambient conditions. This is very important for extending heater life and greatly reducing spa operating costs.

SAFETY ASTM Rated, Locking Cover Every Caldera spa comes standard with an ASTM-rated, UL classified safety cover. Each cover includes a feature that allows the cover to be locked to the spa to prevent unauthorized use. The female half of the cover locks are included with each cover for installation on the spa cabinet by the dealer or consumer.



GFCI Protection A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is required by the National Electric Code for every spa installation. This helps protect spa users in case of an electrical current leakage. On 115V models, the GFCI is included on the power cord. On 230V models, a separate GFCI subpanel is included with the spa. This subpanel could cost a consumer who buys another brand of spa as much as $200 to $250 if the electrician supplies it as part of the installation! Caldera Spas is one of very few manufacturers that include the GFCI subpanel as a standard feature with every 230V spa. It is critical that you communicate this to every shopper that plans to buy a 230V spa. Failure to do so is equivalent to giving your competitor a $200 to $250 selling advantage!

Assist Bar All Utopia and Paradise models feature a convenient assist bar to make spa entry and exit safer. On the Paradise series spas, this assist bar is lit. Exterior Lighting On Utopia series spas the SpaGlo multi-zone lighting of the cabinet’s exterior helps provide safe and convenient spa entry and exit. It can even be programmed to automatically light up the exterior of the spa cabinet using the Daily Automatic On/Off feature.

RELIABILITY Acrylic Spa Surface All Caldera spas feature spa shell surfaces made from continuous cast acrylic, which is far and away the most popular spa surface material. This is because it is a non-porous material that's highly resistant to chemicals, stains, high temperatures, and overall punishment. Maintenance of the acrylic surface is as easy as wiping it with a cloth or sponge and a mild detergent. DuraBond Spa Reinforcement System – Acrylic Spas From a long-term reliability standpoint, the most important component of any portable spa is the spa shell itself. After all, compared to the spa shell, all other components are relatively easy to repair or replace. This is where Caldera really shines! Our shells are vacuum-formed and glassed by some of the best craftsmen in the industry. They use time-tested materials and procedures to virtually eliminate any possibility of shell cracking, blistering, or delaminating. They begin the process by sanding and cleaning the backside of each acrylic sheet, prior to vacuum-forming. This provides a clean surface to which the fiberglass resin can securely attach. The vacuum-forming oven used to shape the acrylic sheet adjusts the temperature separately in 72 independent zones. This means that areas of the acrylic sheet that will need to be stretched the furthest or the least can be heated as needed to adjust for the required shell detail. This helps achieve uniformity in the thickness of the acrylic in the vacuum-formed shell. Because our spa shells are vacuum-formed with monolithic acrylic and strengthened with fiberglass, greater definition in the details of the shell design can be achieved, compared to spas formed from co-extruded or co-laminated material. Once the shell is formed, the fiberglass is applied in two layers. The first layer or “skin coat” is comprised of a high-quality, pure resin and a glass composite. This initial layer etches into the acrylic, locking in the dimensional stability of its features and providing a strong foundation to which the second coat can bond. This first coat also minimizes shrinking and warping that can be caused by the second coat and gives us those flat, straight profiles and bar tops. Once the skin coat has cured, a second layer of the resin and glass is applied. The primary purpose of the second layer is to provide structural rigidity.



During this process extra material is applied underneath high-stress areas such as the bar top, seats and the foot well to provide extra strength. In addition, blocks of wood called “bond beams” are glassed onto the underside of the spa’s bar top at key points to enhance structural integrity and prevent warping as the fiberglass cures. Craftsmanship is the key here and the results prove it. Notice how flat and even the edge of the spa shell is. Many of our competitors must apply trim or silicone on this joint to hide their inconsistencies. They claim it’s to prevent water ingress but it’s often to conceal warped or chipped shells! Spa Cabinets All Utopia spas use the exclusive all-climate Avante™ cabinet designed for years of performance. The unique, ribbed pattern design is enhanced by the rich cabinet colors that give the appearance of high-end furniture, without looking like real wood. And, because of the durability of the spa cabinet material, it comes with a five year warranty against cracking, chipping, or rotting. The EcoTech™ cabinet combines the aesthetic appeal of real wood with the durability and easy care of rigid polymers. Its rich colors and embossed grain give the handsome appearance of high-quality wood, without the maintenance associated with real wood. And, because of the durability of the spa cabinet material, it comes with a limited warranty against cracking or peeling for three years on the Paradise series spas, two years on the Vacanza series Palatino, Vanto, Marino and one year on the Aventine spa. Pressure-Treated Wood Base The base of each Caldera spa is constructed from pressure-treated wood to resist deterioration.

Sealed Bottom

The underside of every Utopia spa is equipped with a specially designed raised base pan that provides the ultimate protection of the frame and spa equipment, by keeping moisture and pests out, while providing a unique design element to the overall spa exterior. This bottom seal, with finger grips on the underside, also aids in easier spa positioning in the showroom as well as at the buyer’s home.

The Paradise series spa is sealed with a high-density polyethylene sheet to help prevent moisture, and pests from entering the spa cabinet from the bottom. This bottom seal also aids in easier spa positioning in the showroom as well as at the buyer’s home.

The bottom of each Vacanza series spa is sealed with a polymer sheet between the pedestal and the cabinet frame.

EnergyPro® Heater The remarkable EnergyPro heater is featured on Utopia and Paradise models. In ordinary spas, the most common cause of component failure is heater corrosion caused by improper water quality. This is typically not covered by spa warranties. However, advanced materials and engineering allow us to offer an unconditional warranty on the EnergyPro heater. So if it needs replacement for any reason during the first five years of ownership, this will be done at no charge to the spa owner. One of the key design elements is that the diameter of the heater tube is specifically engineered to match the flow from the EnergyPro circulation pump so that calcium cannot build up on the heating element. FiberCor Insulation Material Besides providing valuable insulation on all Caldera spa model, the FiberCor insulation material that fills the cabinet also provides support for the plumbing pipes. This helps prevent leaks from developing over time by keeping the weight of the water-filled pipes from dislodging the pipes from the fittings.

Pump Heat Exhaust Motors that run cooler last longer. Electronic components also hold up better over time in cooler environments. That’s why we provide ventilation and exhaust for the pumps. A patented shroud is mounted to the rear of each motor to capture heat exhaust and channel it out of the equipment compartment. As this happens, cooler air is drawn into this area from a port located just under the front of the motor.



CONTROL SYSTEM Some of the features that contribute to the reliability of Caldera control systems include:

Sealed Control Panels Control panels are permanently vacuum-sealed with an adhesive bond to prevent damage from moisture

and dust. The control panel on the Utopia and Paradise series spas is made of strong polymers that make it impact resistant and flexible at the same time. This technology incorporates designs and colors directly into the polymers, which means they will not fade, chip, or peel like common overlay labels. (The Vacanza series control panels use decorative labels on the control panels.)

Sealed Buttons The buttons on the control panels are hermetically sealed so no water is able to contact the circuitry. Sealed Circuitry Conformal coating protects all of the solid-state circuitry from the elements.

In addition, the control system includes features that help prolong the life of the spa’s components:

Automatic Freeze Protection One of the features of Caldera control systems that provide peace of mind, especially for those in colder

climates, is the automatic freeze protection. When the high-limit sensor attached to the heater senses that the temperature has dropped to a level that would indicate a potential danger of freezing (40°F), the heater and jet pumps are activated to ensure that the water will not freeze.

Delayed Switching of Two-Speed Pumps

The control systems feature built-in programming that delays the switching of the two-speed pumps from low speed to high speed. (All spa models except the Paradise Kauai feature two-speed pumps.) This delay significantly reduces wear on the motor, thereby prolonging its life. (Think of it like using a clutch when shifting gears in a car with manual transmission.)

Contoured Pillows The contoured pillows in Caldera spas are made of a high-grade, chemical-resistant EVA material that resists discoloration and deterioration far better than the material used in most other spa headrests.

Durable Cover The covers included with Caldera spas are made by Watkins Manufacturing, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of spa covers. They are made of 2.0 lb.-density polystyrene foam (1.5 lb. on spas less than 7’ wide) encased in a high quality, marine-grade vinyl with UV inhibitors. The foam cores are sealed against moisture intrusion. The cover is sloped—from 3.5” thick in the center to 2.5” thick at the outside edges—to allow rain water to run off, thereby minimizing the possibility that the weight of the water will cause the cover to bow over time.

Warranty The quality of materials, components, and craftsmanship that goes into Caldera spas allows us to offer warranties that are among the best in the industry, providing peace of mind for the Caldera buyer. SIZES & DESIGNS The design of Caldera spas is among the finest in the industry. The graceful curves and detailed sculpturing are intended to be appealing to the eye as well as comfortable and functional. Our wide selection of models offers both lounge spas and non-lounge spas in a variety of sizes. ACQUARELLA® WATERFALL The unique Acquarella water feature is standard on Utopia series spas, Paradise Salina, Makena, and Martinique spas, and Vacanza series Palatino, Marino, Vanto, and Tarino spas. It shoots 20 arching; beautifully backlit streams of water for a dramatic, soothing effect day or night. A conveniently located valve allows the stream flow to be adjusted. Note that the waterfalls on Caldera spas do not operate independently from the jets and that the Vacanza series Palatino, Marino, Vanto, and Tarino spa waterfalls are not backlit. LIGHTING Utopia Series - Lighting Underwater spa lighting causes the millions of tiny bubbles in a spa to glisten, creating an inviting glow. Utopia series models feature the ultimate in spa lighting, the SpaGlo multi-zone lighting system. Long-life LED lights direct illumination to the spa’s Acquarella waterfall, diverter controls, Euphoria jets, underwater light, above-the-water-line pin-point lighting, as well as four corners of the spa’s cabinet. The unique “zone lighting” feature allows users to select their lighting option preference. Paradise Series - Lighting Paradise series models feature a multi-color points-of-light system with lights just above the waterline that reflect off the water creating the appearance of more lights along with additional points-of-light in the foot-well. The Acquarella waterfall is backlit (except for Kauai which does not have a waterfall) along with the assist bar. This system has a dimming feature that allows the user to adjust the lighting to three levels of brightness and a color wheel that can cycle through six different colors. Vacanza Series - Lighting Vacanza series Palatino, Marino, Vanto, and Tarino models feature 10 multi-color points of light. Four lights can be found in the foot well and the remaining lights are located just above the waterline. A dimming feature allows the

user to adjust the lighting to three levels of brightness. In addition, the user can employ the color wheel option, which cycles through six different colors. The Vacanza series Aventine model features a blue underwater LED light, as well as a dimming feature that allows the user to adjust the lighting to three levels of brightness. The dealer can also upgrade the Vacanza series Aventine spa lighting with the optional Mystique LED Lighting System. STAINLESS STEEL JET TRIM On all Caldera spas the stainless steel jet trim is a standard feature that dramatically enhances the aesthetic appeal of these spas. This 316L, aircraft-grade stainless steel trim is factory-installed on all jet faces and air jets and on the light lens ring. COLOR COMBINATIONS Caldera spas are available in a selection of surface colors and textures preferred by the vast majority of spa buyers. Jets, fittings, valves, and headrests are either a light gray or cool gray that complements every spa color. The Avante™ cabinets on all Utopia spas are available in Brownstone, Slate, or Sand colors. The spa cover color is coordinated to the color of the cabinet—either a Chocolate cover for the Brownstone cabinet, a Slate cover for the Slate cabinet, or a Taupe cover for the Sand cabinet.

The EcoTech cabinets on all Paradise and Vacanza spas are available in Espresso, Coastal Gray, or Teak. The spa cover color is coordinated to the color of the cabinet—either a Chestnut cover for the Espresso cabinet, a Ash cover for the Coastal Gray cover, or a Caramel cover for the Teak cabinet.

ACCESSORIES There are a variety of optional accessory products that have been specially tailored to enhance the Caldera spa experience. Cover Lifters The only cover lifters engineered exclusively for use on Caldera spas are the ProLift, ProLift II, ProLift III, ProLift IV and PivotPro. These lifters utilize a proprietary design that attaches directly to the spa cover for a clean appearance and a significant reduction of stress on the cover hinge. The ProLift III and ProLift IV can be installed on Utopia series models. All the cover lifters fit every Paradise series model and all Vacanza series models (except for the Aventine).

Avante steps The exclusive all-climate Avante steps are available in Brownstone, Slate, or Sand. Beautiful, durable and

The EcoTech steps, available in Espresso, Coastal Gray, or Teak, are extremely durable and virtually maintenance-free. Moreover, the EcoTech steps are the perfect complement to Caldera spas because they are made from the same material used in the EcoTech spa cabinets.

Polymer steps Lightweight, durable and easy-to-assemble, these low-cost steps are a great alternative to the EcoTech steps.

Caldera Wireless Bluetooth Sound System The premium Wireless Bluetooth system is the foundation of all entertainment systems. Bluetooth wireless technology allows consumers to enjoy music from virtually any Bluetooth enabled device without the need for wires or plug-in equipment. This system works on ALL Caldera spas manufactured with the current control boxes. NOTE: This system is standard on the Utopia Cantabria. The Bluetooth system can be upgraded at any time with a subwoofer that is dealer-installed in the equipment compartment.

Wireless In-Home This option, when added to the Bluetooth sound system with Subwoofer, becomes the “best” package. This unique component is an exclusive wireless in-home dock that allows the user to choose their audio source (iPod®, in-home stereo, television, radio, etc.) and transmit the sound wirelessly to the spa. Wireless TV As with the wireless sound system, this unique technology allows the user to wirelessly transmit whatever is showing on their television in the home, out to the TV on their spa. Utopia® Cantabria® The Utopia Cantabria is available with a factory-installed Wireless Bluetooth amplifier, a subwoofer and eight 1” integrated speakers. The system also includes an In-Home dock sound system.

The four sets of speakers are located to the left and right of each pillow in the Cantabria. This has two important advantages: First, it means that nobody is overpowered by one channel at the expense of another; and, second, it helps spa users better hear the audio source. Utopia Geneva®, Niagara®, and Tahitian® The Geneva, Niagara, and Tahitian spas can be ordered with factory-installed 1” speakers.
