The certified fitness consultants with York Athletics & Recreation are highly qualified fitness professionals who are dedicated to improving your quality of life by helping you meet all of your fitness and health goals.

FITNESS ASSESSMENTS (1 hour)

Student/Member $35, Non-Member $55Our fitness assessment is a comprehensive approach that includes behavioral and physical components. Your trainer will first discuss your goals, goal planning, barriers to success and success indicators. This will help the personal trainer understand what you would like to accomplish and what would be the most appropriate plan for success. Next, the trainer will address your movement quality. The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a series of 7 different primitive movement patterns that assess quality of movement. Through this screen we will identify movement deficiencies that are related to stability, mobility and flexibility. Based upon your movement screen your personal trainer will prescribe corrective exercises that will allow you to improve your movement deficiencies. Based upon your goals and functional movement screen your personal trainer can design a personalized exercise program.

To register for any of our personal training and/or nutrition options, pay for your program at Client Services and complete a client intake form. Once completed a member from the fitness and lifestyles team will contact you for your first appointment.

Note: Please notify us 24 hours prior to the appointment you wish to cancel, otherwise that appointment will be charged to your account.

• Any scheduled personal training and/or nutrition session may be cancelled without penalty by 24 hours notification directly to the trainer and/or Fitness Centre assistant. • “Notice” includes confirmation from trainer and/or Fitness Centre assistant of the cancellation. • Less than 24 hours notice of a session cancellation, without prior agreement by the trainer, will be considered as an “attended” session. • All personal training sessions and assessment packages must be completed within 12 months of purchase. • Refunds are not permitted after the start of any services without a medical note or prior approval by York Athletics & Recreation management.

Semi-Private training differs from small group training in that the groups are limited to 2-3 individuals so that each client is provided with an individualized program (not one size fits all of group training) that you perform while being closely monitored by one of our expert fitness coaches.
