MSAD 11 - Drop-Out Prevention Committee November 17, 2016
Gardiner Regional Middle School Library - 3:00 pm Members Present: Sue Shepard Sue Oakland Joe Gould Gary Goodheart Gary Verhille David Timms Al Goreyb Joe Klofas Penny Poulan Joan Tourtelotte Alan Yuodsnukis RayeAnne DeSoto Tom Landberg Each member of the committee provided a brief introduction, as this is the second meeting of the year for the Drop-Out Prevention Committee. The committee discussed a mission statement for the group to set “a plan of action” for the group, for the 2016-17 school year. As we look ahead, the group framed their intentions to help with at-risk students of MSAD 11 at all levels as part of the committee. All individuals on the committee contributed to the ideas and concepts that will set us forward with a purpose this school year. The committee also reviewed and reflected on last year’s data, recognizing that there is a need for K-5 data, as the group finds the early grades are a great opportunity for intervention with our struggling and at-risk families.
The group focused on gathering data at the elementary schools. There may need to be a different survey for grades k-2 and for grades 3-5. The group also discussed resources on-line for parent and teacher communication (class dogo, bolster collaborative). In terms of a professional read, the group is considering one of four (4) options. For the next meeting, we will send out a Google survey of the four (4) reads, and each individual committee member will vote on one.
