This baking group will be a great way to introduce our 4-H group to the wonderful gift of community service. Exploring Raven Run Raven Run Nature Sanctuary is a unique area dedicated to preserving the beauty of the Kentucky River Palisades. Join us as we traverse through streams, meadows, and woodlands to learn about Kentucky's forests, waterways, and natural history. If you enjoy hiking, exploring the outdoors, and learning about your environment then this is the track for you! We will be traveling off campus both days and you must have a copy of your Personal Information Form with you. Please wear appropriate clothing for long periods of walking on hiking trails (no flip-flops). Lacy May

F Puzzle Frenzy! Do you like the enjoyment, relaxation, imagination, creativity and team building that goes with working puzzles? If so, this is the track for you! Challenge your mind, work with other 4-Hers and reap the satisfaction of conquering the completion of putting together puzzles!! Shelley Meyer

G 4-H ATV Safety ATVs are popular among youth for recreation and for utility use. They can be useful for work and fun to ride, but they can also be dangerous or harm the environment around them if the rider doesn’t operate the ATV safely. This non-riding track will teach 4-H teens how they can share ATV safety with 4-Hers in their own county. The participants will also work together to create PSA videos that share ATV safety tips. World Religions Why are we here? What happens to us after we die? How can we understand people with beliefs different than our own? The study of religion not only provides answers to these questions, but allows you to consider your own beliefs and values. Delegates will travel to the Ohavay Zion Synagogue, Masjid Bilal, and an international foods market. Students will have the opportunity to tour facilities, learn about cultural practices and participate in question and answer sessions with the tour leaders. The purpose of this track is to allow students to encounter Americans with differing cultural backgrounds from their own. At no time will students’ personal faiths be challenged, nor will they be asked to change their religious beliefs. All speakers are interested in sharing their experiences for educational purposes only. Courtney Brock

Spend time with Campus Recreation Staff learning how to stay fit whether you are going to college in the fall or just want to have fun. Participants will have the opportunity to visit and use Campus Recreation fitness facilities. Discover Dairy Visit the UK Coldstream Dairy for hands on look at some of the latest research using new technologies. Experience some aspects of working with dairy cattle through hands on activities and demonstrations. Learn about some of the science used in dairy farming. Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty for this track. Larissa Tucker

K I'm Not Crazy, I'm Just Not You!

Why are people so different? There are lots of factors that make each of us who we are, but one important part is personality. There are 16 personality types and each type has a natural preference for the way it collects information, makes decisions, recharges its batteries and manages the world around it. In this track, each participant will complete the Meyers-Briggs Type Instrument and will get his/her results back on day 2. Once you know what type you are, you'll better understand your own personality and those of the people around you so you can be more effective in your relationships with friends, couples, teams, and coworkers. L The Basics of Raquetball

Looking for a new hobby? Raquetball is a challenging sport that is played on most college campuses and has very little cost to get started! David Littlejohn

Kentucky 4-H Culinary Challenge

This track is for youth who were selected from their district to compete in the Kentucky 4-H Culinary Challenge. Teams will compete on one day and will be involved in a hands-on educational activity on the other day. The day of the competition will be announced to all teams shortly after registration closes. On the day of competition, there will be an early start time--8:15am for all team members. A team is made up of 3 to 5 members, all from the same county. A copy of the Participant Information/Enrollment form must be brought to the contest and educational day by the teen or chaperone. The team’s tub of equipment is to be dropped off in Erikson Hall on Monday afternoon. Martha Welch

N ¡Buen Provecho! - A Journey through Latin American Cuisine and Culture

Come join us for a fun track of delicious cooking, Spanish language, and Hispanic culture! We will make authentic recipes from Latin America, including homemade tortillas, green salsa, guacamole, rice, and more. Not only will you learn how to cook these amazing dishes, you will learn a lot of Spanish along the way! We will master the Spanish words for each ingredient, kitchen tool, and cooking technique that we use and more! Come prepared to be immersed in the culture of Latin America--creating cultural food traditions, listening to the sounds of Latin American music, and trying your hand at some Spanish language. (No prior knowledge of Spanish needed--all beginners are welcome!) Kelsey Chadwick

O Food, Art, Fun! Do you enjoy eating, creating art, and having fun? Join our Food, Art, Fun track as you create art with food! Come show your artist side, as well as your chef side! You will have various food options to choose from and a different theme for each day to create your Food Art masterpieces! Krista Perry

P PLANting the Future Interested in understanding how plants grow? Enjoy the basic sciences? Explore world of the outdoors, plant sciences which touch our lives every day through food, fiber, landscaping, and the conservation of our soil and water resources. The Best of the Bluegrass

Join us for two fun filled tours of the "Best of the Bluegrass". We will tour a horse farm on one day and then the next day we will spend looking at Beef Cattle. Both of these industries are vital to Kentucky. (For the Beef Tour Day, students plan on the tour taking longer than the allotted time, lunch will be provided for you this day!) Diversified Local Foods

Tour a local Kentucky made product and spend time the next day touring a diversified operation. Students will see the process in which a mill works and then the next day travel to a farm where vegetables, tobacco and agritourism takes place! Jessica Morris and Heather Graham

S 4-H Backstage Learn the basics of running a stage, lighting etc during this hands on track. Participants will be putting these skills into practice during the Fashion Review and the Kentucky 4-H Performing Arts Performance. Jennifer Tackett and Lee-Ann McCuiston

T Lights Camera Action

Learn how to create and edit your own film. Have fun with a team of other students to shoot and edit a video that is fun and energetic. This class teaches you what truly goes on behind the camera lens. The class will be held at the KET building on the campus of the University of Kentucky. Staff from KET will teach students using their facility and technological equipment. If students have a smart phone with video capabilities that will be a very good tool to use in the class. V 4-H Cupcake Wars Get a taste for 4-H Cupcake Wars and develop the pastry artist within you! You will create and taste test several different cupcake recipes while learning about the science behind the sweet treat we all love. You will also learn to pipe icing and practice winning cupcake designs from the KY State Fair. At the end, showcase your skills in a quick-fire challenge! Alex Bryant

X Be a Virtual Genetic Engineer

What is a GMO? Find out for yourself by doing genetic engineering virtually. No lab coat is required, because it is all a computer exercise! Paul Vincelli

Join us as we talk about preparing for your college adventure and available resources to help you be successful. This awesome drawstring backpack will be constructed using 18x18 fabric squares. The trendy backpack will have several eye-catching features. Each student will personalize their own backpack with unique embellishments. Participants will be using equipment such as a sewing machine, heat press, Cricut and Silhouette...imagine the POSSIBILITIES! *Some hand sewing may be required. Peggy Jones

BB Fruits and Veggies with Japanese Style!

This class will give you a taste of Japan as you learn to make veggie sushi and a beautiful Bento. A bento is much more than simply a box lunch. It is a beautiful way to package a portable meal. On Day 1, get first-hand experience creating your own veggie sushi and using fruits and vegetables to make a tasty and healthy Bento Box snack. Then hop on a van to visit the Lexington Farmers’ Market to purchase local produce so you can design your own Kentucky Bento lunch on Day 2! You will use the great facilities in the Kitchen Classroom at The 90 to wash, cut, and cook the ingredients for your own creation, then stop by the photo station before digging in with your chopsticks. You must bring your Personal Information Sheet for the trip to the Farmers’ Market. Martha Yount

You will tour the University of Kentucky Ag. Weather Center and learn how to read the weather maps and radars. Then, you will be able to develop your own REAL weather forecast and give your forecast just like a meteorologist on the 6:00 news! Matt Dixon

Leather Craft Explore your creativity by learning an old craft called leather making. Participants will learn how to work with leather by tooling, dying, and constructing. Projects include one of three: journal cover, ID case, or billfold. Those wanting to create a journal cover should bring their journal to get the right size. Fashion Revue: Escape to Clover City

The State Fashion Revue is an educational and competitive event for those that have completed a wearable outfit in the sewing, needlework, or clothing selection projects. All outfits must be complete outfits made by or selected by the model. All clothing selections models must include submitting a completed notebook. Participants will take part in sessions that include modeling instruction, an upcycled tie accessory, and a blanket service project. All models will be evaluated on their modeling and presentation of their outfit by a panel of judges, as well as practice and present the Fashion Revue on stage for viewing by the entire Teen Conference delegation. Participants must bring and know how to operate their own digital cameras. Also bring the software necessary to transfer your photos. Please bring music to assist with the slide show. Sausage is a very common, but not all sausages are the same. Learn about the different types of sausage and gain hands-on experience making your own sausage, learning the reason behind why certain ingredients are added, and how to cook various types of sausages. 9 Rhythm, Relax, Reengerize

Fun, fun and more fun! What could be more fun than playing buckets, waving scarves, bouncing tennis balls to music and throwing a parachute. This seminar is a leadership class that will teach delegates lessons that they will take back to their county to teach other 4-H members. This will create a love of music of all ages. This combination class of basketball and football will give you the competitive outlet you require to be the best kind of you. You will hone your skills under the tutelage of two of the great masters of skill in basketball and football. Mike's qualifications include being tall. Eric's qualifications include being short. Using these skills, they will show you the fundamentals and advanced techniques to help you understand the nuance of the timeless traditions of these two athletic pursuits. 17 How Snacks and Breakfast Cereal are made using Extrusion

Have you ever wondered how breakfast cereals like FRUIT LOOPS are made or you are interested in learning how CHEETOS type of snacks are produced. In this workshop, you will learn about how extruders, a machine that can make several different products within few minutes in a continuous manner works. You will also help to mix different ingredients to make extruded snacks. You will also see an extruder in operation first hand and get to take home some hot extruded products. Fashion Revue: Escape to Clover City

The State Fashion Revue is a competitive event for those that have completed a project in sewing, needlework, or clothing. All outfits must be complete outfits made by or selected by the model. All participants must submit a completed notebook. Participants will take part in sessions that include modeling instruction, an upcycled tie accessory, and a service project. All models will be evaluated on their modeling and presentation of their outfit by a panel of judges, as well as practice and present the Fashion Revue on stage for viewing by the entire Teen Conference delegation. Listen Up Legislators: Politics 101

Do you want to go to law school, join the campaign trail, have a career in public administration or public policy? Delegates in this Super Seminar will receive eight hours of certification in citizenship (awesome for those college and scholarship applications) and can debate their ideas in front of local government officials. Business attire is required as delegates will travel to the Councilmembers' offices in Downtown Lexington. Become A Healthy Living Ambassador

Kentucky rates above the national median in the areas of physical activity, obesity, and other health concerns; more so, many of our counties have extremely high rates in these areas as well. In this SUPER SEMINAR, you will learn how to work with your agent, volunteers, and teachers to implement new programs to engage youth in fun physical activities and healthy living lessons. Teens who complete this Super Seminar will become Teen Healthy Living Ambassadors for Kentucky and will learn the responsibilities and incentives that will come with being an ambassador for the program. Fashion Revue: Escape to Clover City

The State Fashion Revue is an educational and competitive event for those that have completed a wearable outfit in the sewing, needlework, or clothing selection projects. All outfits must be complete outfits made by or selected by the model. All clothing selections models must include submitting a completed notebook. Participants will take part in sessions that include modeling instruction, an upcycled tie accessory, and a blanket service project. All models will be evaluated on their modeling and presentation of their outfit by a panel of judges, as well as practice and present the Fashion Revue on stage for viewing by the entire Teen Conference delegation. SPOTLIGHT Teens will work with Agents to take pictures to prepare the slide show/video for Thursday's closing assembly. This includes story line, music, equipment, set-up and presentation. Also included in this track is the Spotlight Newsletter. Agent will work with teens to research, write and typeset their own stories. Participants must bring and know how to operate their own digital cameras. Also bring the software necessary to transfer your photos. Please bring music to assist with the slide show. Those who do not bring a camera will automatically be assigned to work on the Spotlight Newsletter. Heather Coleman
