    Mildred Breed, our Wednesday speaker, has playedbridge for 53 years and has over 17,400 masterpoints.

    She represented the USA in seven WBF competitionswinning two gold, three silver and two bronze medals

    and holds sixteen ACBL National titles. Mildred hasdirected at national, regional, and sectional

    tournaments, as well as club games, and ran the AustinBridge Studio for two years.

    Laurie Levin salutes her students! She counts herselflucky to have the privilege of teaching a group of smart,

    fun and engaging students and takes pleasure in thetime spent together. Laurie thanks them all for their

    continued friendship and interest in our wonderful game.

    An avid bridge player since college, Robert (Bob) Mortonof San Angelo, TX has been a student of the game for

    over 30+ years. Retired in 2015, Bob was a practicingphysician in Arkansas City, Kansas and San Angelo for

    over 30 years. He proudly participates in the Thursdayevening games in San Angelo with his wife and bridge

    partner, Louisa. The Mortons are relocating to SanAntonio to spend more time with their children and

    grandchildren. This game is dedicated to his passion forduplicate bridge and his steadfast approach to itschallenges.

  • Phil Brown was a fixture in the San Antonio bridgecommunity. He became a Ruby Life Master and was a

    mentor and friend to many players in Unit 172. Knownby all for his curmudgeonly manner, yet he was a loyal

    partner and steadfast friend. He was humble about hismilitary accomplishments having graduated from the

    West Point Military Academy and been awarded thePurple Heart. His presence at the table is missed bypartners and opponents alike.

    Phil BrownStratified 299er Pairs (Wednesday 9:30am)

    Terry (Terrence George Rice) was born the oldest ofthree sons to Ted and Betty Lou Best Rice in Pittsburg,

    Pennsylvania. The entire family was avid sport fans(Pirates, Steelers, Penguins). He moved with his family

    to Beaumont, Texas, after high school where heobtained his Bachelors Degree in math from Lamar

    University and Masters Degree In statistics from TexasA&M and then returned to teach at Lamar.

    One of Terry's dreams came true when he was offered

    the opportunity to teach and coach at Rankin HighSchool. It was there he met and married his wife of 46

    years, Anita.

    After marriage, Terry became a professor at SouthwestTexas University (Texas State) where he was recruited

    by A&M for their PhD in statistics program. In the years

    that followed he taught at Sam Houston, Stephen FAustin and A&M. Moving the family to San Antonio in the

    early 1980's he taught and coached at various juniorhigh and high schools ultimately retiring from Tafolla

    Junior School.

    During his years in San Antonio another dream cametrue when he was able to coach his sons in baseball,

    basketball and soccer.

    After retirement Terry enjoyed traveling, spending timewith family (three sons, their wives and seven

    grandchildren) and, of course, playing bridge, becominga silver life master, and being with his bridge family.

    Having served on the Unit 172 Board of Directors innearly every capacity, Roxana has been a devoted

    member of the San Antonio bridge community for manyyears. Her service is greatly appreciated.

    Roxana learned to play bridge at an early age when she

    stumbled into the game while traveling from Tennesseeto Victoria, Texas -- in the time before video games!

    After raising her children, she was introduced toduplicate bridge and it was love at first matchpoint. She

    is a true supporter of the game, traveling to mostregional and national tournaments, and a Gold Life

    Master with nearly 3,500 masterpoints.

    Her clear sense of service, fairness and willingness towork hard has earned her the respect of the San Antonio

    bridge community, which continues to value her

    leadership and envy her skills!
