However any changes to these Rules of Order still re- quire a vote by the General Membership un- der the existing rules. Congratulations to those celebrating anniversaries in June

CCSC wishes a very Happy Birthday to our members celebrating in June

Report From The Rear Commodore

Jim Blandino 802-578-6047 [email protected]

Greetings to all, especially our new members, from your Rear Commodore. As usual, I encourage all to spread the word about what the club is about, who we are and the club activities that generate the bond of camaraderie and long lasting friendships amongst its members. Increasing membership is important to the longevity of the club and fosters the opportunity to meet new people with a common bond of boating. Our members are our strongest asset to get the word out to grow the membership.

Cruising News with Captain Dennis

Dennis Weeks 321-287-5076 [email protected]

CLUB RETURNS TO FT. MYERS

The second annual cruise to Downtown Ft. Myers Municipal Marina was a great success. Alt-hough the weather was extremely warm the members enjoyed the facilities and each others com-pany. We were able to have happy hour in the Captains Lounge that was air conditioned and found a shaded area to have a great Italian feast. Wednesday we joined other club members at our monthly luncheon. Light winds going and coming home made it pleasurable for Compass Rose, Small Fortune, R and R, and Nimble, the powerboats on the cruise but disappointing for Capricorn who hoped for a good breeze so they could sail.

The summer is heating up, putting our club summer cruises on hold. There has been some inter-est expressed by some full time residents about a July 4 cruise to Punta Gorda. Arnold Small re-searched our options and learned that the marinas are full for the holiday. If we’d like to add a cruise up that way for July 2018, we need to make our reservations by July 1. If anyone would consider organizing the cruise, please let me know so we can get a pulse of the interest for this summer cruise.

Though not a ‘cruise’ but a boating event, we have our anniversary raft up at Glover Bight on June 6-7. FYI, the calendar also has another day cruise picnic to look forward to on September 22. If you’d like to coordinate this picnic/day cruise, a leader is needed.

CCSC May Lunch

Thirty two members converged on Joe’s Crab Shack in Ft. Myers for our May luncheon on Wednesday, May 10th. Because this was during the week of our May cruise to the Ft. My-ers Municipal Marina, joining us were our 5 cruise boats (10 members), 3 day cruisers (Debra J, Manana II, and the Miniter crew) with a total of 10 guests and members, and 12 members by car. The only snag of the day occurred when, after making prior arrange-ments with the Edison Sailing School, Captain Miniter and crew docked at their marina and realized that they were locked inside the entrance gate. A quick phone call to staff re-solved the issue and, after a few minutes, the crew were able to walk to the restaurant.

Thanks to Shirley Nemeth, George Hunt, and Dennis Weeks for shuttling folks back and forth from the Municipal Marina to the restaurant. Riders really appreciated a break from the heat.

After the event, we said “summer goodbyes” to members Kevin and Joan Meyer, Wendy Fowler, along with Norma and Duane Keeler who will soon be heading north for the sum-mer. We wish all our snowbird members safe travels and look forward to seeing them in the Fall.
