Best Practices for Participation
$25 on the 25th
The $25 on the 25th strategy has worked well to close the gap between the amount raised and the goal. In many cases it pushes parishes over the top.
This unique idea was created by a parish in another diocese to try to close the gap between what had been raised and their goal.
The first thing they did was figure out that if each parishioner could give $25 on the 25th of the month, their parish would reach their goal.
Even though they did not get a gift from everyone, they were able to come much closer to reaching their goal.
Strategies: Participation
$25 on the 25th (Continued)
Request additional pledge envelopes if needed. The envelopes should
contain the parish name, city.
Promote the campaign in the bulletin and at each Mass in announcements
to help the parish reach their Appeal goal.
After the collection, please send all envelopes to the Office of Archbishop’s
Appeal to arrive before December 31, 2018, so we can apply these gifts
toward your parish's goal for the 2018 Appeal.
Strategies: Participation
Build upon the success of the 2017 Appeal.
Encourage parishioners to increase their gifts through pledging which allows gifts to be made in payments.
Promote online giving at www.archsa.org .
Educate the parish about Stewardship and the 40 ministries supported by the Appeal throughout the 19 counties in the Archdiocese.
Share Appeal ministry stories.
Motivate parish leaders to be Good Will Ambassadors for the Appeal.
Other Strategies
Emphasize the spiritual foundation of the Appeal. (Stewardship)
Help people move closer to Christ by sharing their gifts to help others in spiritual and material ways. (Time, Talent, Treasure)
Help them fulfill their responsibility as a member of the Church by providing for the Church needs to share Good News and do Good Works.
Other Strategies
• Review Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) pages 62-63 in the Parish Leadership Manual.
• NEW – Page 64 – “A Comparison: Archbishop’s Appeal & Capital Campaign• Archbishop’s Appeal (AA) is about PEOPLE, an on-going annual support for the
“Day-to-Day Operations” of the 40 Appeal Ministries, without which funding they could not exist as they do today, Tuition Assistance, Faith Formation, Seminarians, Diaconate, Priest Retirement, CTSA, Today’s Catholic, Catholic Charities.
• NEW - Capital Campaign (CC) is about INFRASTRUCTURE, 3 year commitment for “Brick & Mortar” projects, such as purchasing land and construction of 9 new parishes (2 Campus Ministry), repairs, expansion, renovation, capital improvements. Last CC was in 1955, over 60 years ago.
Annual Appeal & Capital Campaign
In the Spirit of Love
Closing Prayer, 2018 Appeal PrayerLoving God,
As missionary disciples, we are sent to bring the Good News of Jesus to everyone in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
Strengthen our faith, deepen our hope, and help us to respond in love for others through the Archbishop’s Appeal ministry.
We are very grateful for the many gifts and blessings we have received. May your Holy Spirit inspire us to share a portion of these gifts and blessings with those who need our help through the 2018 Archbishop’s Appeal.
Fill our hearts with your truth and enduring love so that, united as a community of faith, we may show through our actions that we truly are disciples In the Spirit of Love.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
