FAIR GUIDELINES

ThePathfinderFairisdesignedasafundayforeachclub.Eacheventwillrevealtheclubsabilitytoproblemsolve, adapt, work together, have fun and achieve. The events are designed so that everyone in the club, including leaders will be able to work together to demonstrate their skills

SPECIAL THEME FOR THIS YEAR’S FAIRThe events will all have something to do with the Story of the Exodus. This is one of the great stories of the Bible. This was when God revealed himself in a powerful way as he took the Children from the slavery of Egypt to the Promised land. This story has a lot of opportunities for discussion seeing we also are waiting for the coming of Jesus. Have fun as we recreate some of these great stories.

HOW CAN A CLUB PREPARE FOR THE FAIR?ThespecialPathfinderskillsthatarebeingassessedatthisPathfinderFairarehighlightedintheeventdescriptions along with the equipment needed for each team. As a group, look at the equipment, skills listed,andthenumberofPathfindersneeded.SpendtimeallowingthePathfinderstogaintheskillsforthisFair. Have Fun!

DOES THIS FAIR HAVE A BIBLICAL THEME?Yes. It is great to explore some of these stories that remind us that God is with us and He can do the impossible.

HOW MANY TEAMS CAN A CLUB ENTER?As many as they have personnel for. Remember that each team needs to have access to separate equipment. The judges will record the best score from the teams for their club.

WHAT IF THE CLUB IS VERY SMALL?We don’t want any clubs to feel that they may miss out on the excitement of the fair. We will allow small clubstousemorePathfinderstaffmembersinaneventtomakeupthemembers.ThisisbasedontheFairApplicationregisterednumberofPathfindersintheClub,NOTthenumberofPathfinderswhoactuallycome.WeasksmallPathfinderclubstogivepreferencetotheirPathfindersasisreasonableforeachevent.

WHEN DO I WEAR THE PATHFINDER UNIFORM?Full dress uniform must be worn for the formal opening. This includes top, bottom, insignias, hat etc. Club fielduniformshouldbewornforeventsandtheclosingparade.

SAFETY STEWARDSWe ask that each club provide one safety steward per event that the club enters. Their duties will include

• Indicate that the team is ready•Holdthefinishedproductuntilithasbeenreleasedbythejudges•MaintainsafeparticipationbythePathfinders• Complete a record of the event for the Judge

WILL THERE BE A PATHFINDER FAIR STAMP?Yes.Timwillhaveoneontheday.MakesureyoubringyourPathfinderPassportbooks.

HOW WILL THE SCORING BE DONE?The Judges will follow the fair standard. The scoring will be based on the team demonstrating their abilities andtheendresultwhereitisrelevant.TheteamsarecompetingagainsttheclockandthePathfinderFair standard followed by the judges. The Judges will be the District Directors. The score will not be made available on the day. All teams can achieve an A grade. A Fair Pennant will be presented to each club duringthefinalparade.

JUDGING PROCEDURE FOR THIS FAIRWhen the team makes an object the judging will take place after the event. The object built or made will not be able to be dismantled until after the judges have completed their inspection. This means that clubs will have to remember that timber may not be available immediately for the next event.

CAN PHOTOGRAPHERS TAKE PICTURES OF EVENTS?Yes.EachclubwillbeabletohaveONEclubphotographerbadge.ThisisonlyavailablefromTimattheinfor-mation tent. The guidelines for this person are as follows:• They are the only person allowed to photograph beyond the crowd safey fence.• The badge can be shared with different adults from the club.• The photographer MUST respect the directions of the Safety Steward and the judge as they are responsi-

ble for keeping the event safe. • Thephotographermustnotgetinthewayofthepathfinders.• The photographer is not to act as a coach for the team. Their role is to record the experience of the

Pathfinders.• If a photographer does not follow all of the above guidelines then the badge will be taken from the

club.
