The Princess Bride USA I 1987 I 98 min Director: Rob ReinerWebsiteSaturday, 7:30 pm, Taylor Street Outdoor Theatre

Last year’s inclement weather cancelled the 30 year anniversarycelebration of The Princess Bride at our outdoor theatre. So let’scelebrate it this year! This film has become one of the most iconicand loved, almost cult, pictures of the past few decades. How manyof us can complete the line, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya….” Orwho said, “As you wish” multiple times. The Princess Bride isaction-packed but still light-hearted, sweet but not saccharine, sillybut still smart -- and of course, endlessly quotable. This classiccomedy-romance introduces a number of unusual characters as itfollows a peasant farmhand, as he battles bumbling outlaws and an evil prince, to win the hand of his onetrue love.

A "typical" day in the life of The Beatles, including many of theirfamous songs. This black and white film is full of great music andBritish humor by the Fab Four. Enjoy the fun as we step backdecades and watch the magic and excitement of The Beatles as theytravel from their home town of Liverpool to London to perform in atelevision broadcast. Along the way they must rescue Paul'sunconventional grandfather from various misadventures. And thendrummer Ringo goes missing just before the crucial concert whichleaves the other lads in a so-called 'run against time'. It’s a timelessfilm that is the acting debut for John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Special Tribute to Frank BuxtonSteamboat Bill, Jr.with LIVE Music “Miles & Karina”Sat., Sept. 22, 3:15 pmRose Theatre

We lost a great champion of the Port Townsend Film Festival thisyear with Frank Buxton's passing in January. The support Frank gave, along with that of his wife, Cynthia Sears, was key in getting thefestival off the ground, and kept it flying all these wonderful years.

Frank's career in the entertainment industry is immense, but hereare some highlights: He performed in NY as a stand-up comedian, toured Australia as the star of “Bye Bye Birdie”, hosted the TVseries, “Discovery”, created his own award-winning series, “HotDog”, and then went on to write and direct in Hollywood for Gary Marshall on such shows as “The OddCouple”, “Happy Days”, and “Mork and Mindy.” And all this after starting in summer stock at 19 and

appearing with his hero, Buster Keaton! PTFF honors Frank's love of silent films with the showing ofSteamboat Bill, Jr., one of his favorites.

Frank loved PTFF and often remarked that a cherished moment was standing in the warm September sunin front of the Rose Theatre, with the smell of straw bales, talking about the film he’d just seen, hearingothers describe the ones they had watched, and getting advice about which film to see next.

Frank continues to be with us in spirit, and would want us all to say ONWARD, PTFF!
