Classes for Students When approaching a stopped school bus that has displayed a stop signal, you must stop and wait for the bus to withdraw its signal before proceeding. If there is a divided highway with an unpaved space of at least 5 feet, a raised median, or a physical barrier, a motorist who is traveling in the opposite direction of the bus is not required to stop. By adding two minutes to each school day for the 2019/20 academic year, the district will not have to utilize any Flex Days until we have missed the second day of school due to a hurricane or other emergency. The Flex Days would then be used in the following order: 1) Monday, February 17, President’s Day 2) Monday, January 6, 2020. If more than three days of school are missed, the district will add minutes to the school day after using Flex Days.

If your family is anything like mine, keeping track of your child’s activities both in and out of school can be a challenge. Tat’s why we’re once again providing Alachua County Public School families with our annual School Year Calendar. Te calendar includes school holidays, report card dates, testing schedules and other key dates in the academic year.

Be sure to check out important information about Flex Days, which are built into the calendar in case of school closings due to hurricanes or other emergencies. Let’s hope we don’t have to use them!

As always, our calendar also includes a list of frequently called numbers. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call our district ofces or our main switchboard at (352) 955-7300. Remember, being involved in your child’s education will pay huge dividends.

An accreditation program has long been recognized as a means of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Accreditation is the certification by an independent reviewing authority that an entity has met specific requirements and prescribed standards. Schools, universities, and hospitals are some of the most well-known organizations that are required to maintain accreditation.

Law enforcement at the Sheriff’s Office has been accredited by Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. since 1997. We are currently accredited at the Excelsior Level. Our Department of the Jail has been accredited by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission since 1999. It is also accredited at the Excelsior Level. The Excelsior Level is the highest level of accreditation that is given. The Communications Center has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. since 2002. It is accredited at the highest level as a Flagship/Gold Standard Center.
