The course will provide perspectives on the treatment of hypertension and hyperlipidemia for primary and secondary prevention and will review the newest drugs and data in the treatment of stable and unstable coronary disease. The indications for use of diagnostic tools, devices and procedures in electrophysiology and structural heart disease will also be highlighted. Teaching methods include lecture, case discussion with audience response system and Q&A with faculty.

objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:• Consider the epidemic of early, aggressive coronary disease risk in South Asian patients

and assess the value of testing for specifi c infl ammatory biomarkers and metabolic risk factors.

• Review popular natural approaches used by patients for hypertension and discuss the current evidence.

• Discuss the role of coronary artery calcium scans in risk stratifi cation.• Relate the signifi cance of HDL and triglycerides in cardiovascular risk.• Discuss factors to consider in determining the duration of treatment with dual

antiplatelet therapy.• List pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical options for the treatment of chronic

stable angina.• Recognize the cardiovascular risk of menopausal hormone replacement therapy. • Select appropriate tests to assess perioperative risk.• Evaluate patients with frequent premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) and discuss

treatment options.• Summarize the indications for atrial fi brillation ablation therapy.• Review the indications for pacemakers, ICDs and CRT devices.• Identify appropriate candidates for patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure.• Identify the indications for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and describe
