ReTain® Plant Growth Regulator for California Soluble Powder is a powerful tool for optimizing production in walnuts. ReTain consistently increases yield in walnut orchards that suffer from low nut set due to Pistillate Flower Abscission (PFA).

A single ReTain application reduces ethylene production in pistillate flowers, the main cause of PFA. This results in increased nut retention and higher yields. To emphasize this point, Valent is offering growers the opportunity to participate in the 2019 ReTain Grower Assurance Program. Under this program, qualified growers will be eligible for an assurance payment if the difference between the Increased Yield Per Acre that results from using ReTain and the net price paid by the grower for ReTain is less than net price of ReTain per acre.

ASSURANCE PROGRAM TERMS AND CONDITIONS

In order to qualify for this program, the Grower agrees to the following requirements:1. Product Use—ReTain must be applied to walnuts at the labeled rate within application guidelines as

stated on the product label.2. Treated Block—Must be a minimum of 40 acres of walnuts treated with ReTain.3. Untreated Block—An untreated block of walnuts adjacent to the treated block must be weighed and

graded separate from the treated block at harvest. It is recommended that the untreated block be at least 5% of the treated block’s size (i.e. 2 acres untreated if treated block is 40 acres).

4. Assurance Claim Processa. Assurance claims must be initiated by the Grower with a Valent representative in writing within 30

days of determination of final yield based on hull/dryer reports. b. Any claim investigations will be conducted with Valent, the Grower(s) and Grower PCA for each

treated orchard to help the Grower, PCA and Valent improve the performance of ReTain use in the future.

c. The following forms must be provided during the investigation:i. Huller/dryer weight certificates for ReTain treated and untreated blocks.ii. Written PCA recommendations and documented observations related to the treated and

untreated blocks.d. Within 30 days after an investigation has been concluded, Valent will notify the Grower of the

investigation results and if an assurance payment will be made.5. Assurance Payment—An assurance payment up to the cost of ReTain per treated acre will be paid if the

results of the investigation determines that ReTain did not result in an Increased Value Per Acre greater than the cost of the product. a. One check per Grower will be made based on the aggregated acres of that Grower participating in

the program even if multiple grower sites are in the program.b. Application costs are not covered by this offer.c. Assurance payment calculations will be done at the sole discretion of Valent.d. Assurance payments will be sent or delivered prior to January 31, 2020, to the address provided as a

check made out to the Grower named below.

Valent reserves the right to change, audit or terminate the program at any time.
