Conclusions
• Florida’s statewide safety belt use rate for 2019 is 89.8 percent.
• Down, but not statistically different from the 2018 rate of 90.6 percent
• Maintained upward trend over the last decade; 8.9 percentage points (80.9% to 89.8%)
• There is still room for improvement – in all the “usual” areas:• Local Roadways (represent largest decline year to year, followed by Collectors)• Occupants in pickup trucks (continued declining usage – 2 years in a row)• Male occupants, occupants ages 16-34, and Black occupants
• Look at additional sources (crash data, awareness data, trauma data, etc.)
• Use countermeasures that work to address low use groups
