Friday 24th July Principal: Katherine Holman Deputy Principal: Terry Minos
From the Principal – Katherine Holman Welcome back to Term 3 we hope you had an
enjoyable break. It seems like Term 3 and 4 are going
to be very busy with a few events to be shifted into
these terms due to COVID-19 restrictions. We have
been reminded by our Department that teachers and
students should be prepared in case they need to work
from home at short notice. This may mean taking a
number of things home from school each day and
having any equipment you may need to work from
home ready. Please let us know if your circumstances
have changed and you no longer have a device or
internet available at home.
While parents are allowed back on the grounds for pick
up and drop off we would like to take this opportunity
to remind you that parents and caregivers are not to
enter buildings unless invited. Where possible please
contact teachers by phone or email if you have concerns
or wish to pass on information.
We also ask for your support in not congregating on the
grounds before school or prior to pick up and please
maintain social distancing.
In view of what is happening in Victoria and NSW and
our State Health and Department advice at this stage we
still have a number of restrictions in place including:
the front office will remain restricted to
minimise the number of adults that enter this
space
assemblies will continue online until at least
week 3 and we will advise when audiences
may return
if children or adults are presenting with cold or
flu symptoms they must stay home
if you or family members are waiting for
COVID–19 test results please stay home until
you have been notified of a negative result
continue to practise good hygiene and social
distancing
We appreciate your support in keeping us all safe.

External Review
Our External Review will be taking place Tuesday the
28th and Wednesday 29th of July. This will involve the
Review Improvement and Accountability Team talking
to staff, students and parents over the two days. At the
end of the review we will be provided with a report that
will highlight what we do well and what we need to do
to continue to improve. We will be given some
directives that will guide our work for the next 3 years.
Reports were distributed at interviews last term with
around 90% of families having interviews. Seven
classes had 100% of their families book and turn up for
interviews. The lowest class attendance was 83 % and
the remainder of classes were above 92% attending. As
you know these were conducted face to face, phone and
over webex. When we did our staff review many staff
made feed back that they saw some efficiencies in
phone and online interviews. Some parents have also
let us know they enjoyed being able to get the
information from home.

A reminder as part of our school’s Sun Smart Policy
all children must wear a hat in terms 1, 3 & 4, for
activities where they are exposed to the sun, including
recess and lunch. The Front Office do not have spare
hats to lend students. Hats are $10 and can be
purchased from the Front Office. Students without a
suitable hat must stay in a designated shaded area.

ONLINE ASSEMBLIES Amber Arruzzolo - Wellbeing Leader
Since Term 2 we have been having our assemblies
online. This has been a new adventure for all of us but
really well received by the students and their teachers.
Mr C has spent a lot of time editing some very
entertaining videos and organising the assemblies, while
the comperes have got used to giving live broadcasts and
Mrs A is still trying to work out which computer camera
she’s meant to be looking at! :). This has been a huge
learning experience for staff and students with some
fabulous results.
We are looking to keep some of these aspects of digital
tech in our assemblies when they eventually go back to
normal in the hall. For the time being they will remain
online and we will let parents know when the hall
assembly will return. Due to current circumstances we
are continuing an online platform.
Thank you to one of our ‘techies’ Christian for his help
and running from class to class to assist when the
internet decides to make life tricky! We all appreciate
your calm and helpful assistance!
We look forward to sharing some of these videos at later
assemblies.
Program Achieve- Term 3
Amber Arruzzolo- Wellbeing Leader
This term our focus key is PERSISTENCE. Persistence is
about not giving up, working tough and trying our hardest.
We have already seen students using new technology in
their learning, staff using a number of new teaching
strategies and everyone working together to achieve some
impressive outcomes.
Students will continue to learn about using Persistence at
school and at home. Some parents may find it useful to
replicate some of this language at home. For example
while supervising homework tasks or even trying to get
kids to clean their rooms ;) . Good luck...
‘Don’t give up’
‘Keep trying your hardest’
‘Just keep swimming....’
‘You can keep working tough...’
‘You’ve reached that part now keep going...’

Goal Setting & Growth Mindset
Goals help us to set a positive and proactive tone for our
learning. They teach us to work positively towards an
outcome and to feel ownership in our learning journey.
At the end of Term 2, the students in Rooms 1, 3 and 4 set
themselves goals for Term 3.
They read the story ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ and talked about what
goals are and what steps we need to follow to
achieve our goals.
