Prerequisites: NIL Target age group: 12-16 Description: The Cadet Cyber Training Course - Standard will be conducted over the course of 1 week. Training provided will help cadets develop the first level of Cyber skills and will compete in an online competition at the end of the week. Successful participants will also have the opportunity to move onto the Advanced Course. Timings: There will be a total of 5 instructional sessions. Sessions will be approx. 4 hours. There will also be tutorial hours available should a cadet require extra assistance. Dates: serial 1: 13-17 Jul and serial 2: 27-31 Jul. Requirements: Must have internet connection, computer/laptop/tablet and be available on test day. A second monitor will be helpful. Pre-requisites: Nil.Target Agegroup: 12-15. Description: The Backyard FTX is a 5-week adventure in the making. Showup weekly for themes andactivities in survival, or just for the finalovernight activity and challengeyourself to complete all therequirements. Learn how to surviveand thrive in your basement, on yourbalcony or in your backyard. Timings: There will be a total of 15instructional sessions. Sessions will beapprox. 1.5 hours. There will also betutorial hours available should a cadetrequire extraassistance.  Dates: 13 Jul -14 Aug. Requirements: Must have Internetconnection and computer / laptop /tablet / mobile device. Some smallhousehold items may beused in the construction of a survivalkit.

Pre-requisites: Nil. Target Agegroup: 12-16 Description: Understand how airportsoperate and support flying operations.You will also learn about meteorology,weather measuring, navigation andhelp in NASA research. Guest speakerswill inspire cadets to see the full 360degrees of the flying supportenvironment. Timings: Therewill be a total of 10 instructionalsessions. Sessions will be approx. 1.5hours. Pre-requisites: Nil. Target AgeGroup: 12-15. Description: The Knot Challenge will beconducted over the course of 4 weeks.Each week an activity sheet will be providedto cadets, outlining 6 knots that will betaught over the course of the week. Eachweek the knots and whippings will becomeprogressively more difficult. Cadets will beencouraged to watch instructional videosand come to tutorial sessions to receiveassistance. Each Friday for the duration,cadets will be invited to attend Show OffFridays. During Show Off Fridays cadets willbe engaged in a Kahoot game and a virtualconversation in which they describe theuse of each of the knotand whipping they have learned. Timings: Each week a tutorial will be held inwhich cadets are encouraged to come andget assistance if required. Show-Off Fridayswill be conducted each week for an hour. Dates: 20 Jul - 14 Aug (4-week block). Requirements: Must have internetconnection, computer/laptop or tablet,rope or boot laces, broom handle or pole,whipping twine or dental floss. Cadets areencouraged to use material from aroundthe house.

Pre-Requisites: Nil. Target AgeGroup: 12-15. Description: The Build a Boat Challenge will occurin 4 tiers, over the course of a 5-weekperiod. Cadets will be encouraged to participateat all tiers of the challenge taking time to improveand re-think the design of their boats.Throughout the 5 weeks, cadets will have theopportunity to participate in lessons aroundbuoyancy and ship building which will help intheir understanding of how to build a seaworthyboat. Guest speakers will lendtheir voice to the conversation to encouragecadets throughout the build. Timings: each week cadets will be required toparticipate in 1.5 hours of online facilitationwith optional lessons and guest speakers. Dates: 13 Jul - 14 Aug. Requirements:  Must have internet connection,computer/laptop or tablet and be able to build aboat with recycled materialslaid out in the build a boat challenge activitysheet.

Pre-requisites: Nil or the level precedingthe level you are trying to achieve. Target Age Group: 12-18. Description: The music course will providecadets will the opportunity to be engagedin music training over the course of 5weeks. Cadets will participate in musictheory, rhythm and aural skills, musicleadership and history. Cadets will alsoparticipate in group and private lessonsonline with qualified instructors and at theend of the summer those cadets wishingto take a level test will be provided theopportunity to do so.  Timings: Musicstaff will provide facilitated training 3 timesa week for 1.5 hours. Cadets will also havethe opportunity to sign up for individuallessons and attending tutorial sessionshould they wish.  Dates: 13 Jul - 14 Aug. Requirements: Must have internetconnection, computer/laptop/tablet and amusical instrument.

The Radio Operator Certificate (Maritime)Course will be conducted over the courseof 2 weeks. Training provided in thiscourse will help cadets develop theknowledge to attempt the RadioOperator Certificate qualification, whichwill occur on the last Friday of this 2-weeksession. Cadets will explore topic areasthat include: Identifying VoiceProcedures, Utilize Distress, Urgency andSafety Calling Procedures and Describethe Global Maritime Distress and SafetySystem. Timings: Therewill be a total of 6 instructional sessions.Sessions will be approx. 1.5hours. There will also be tutorial hoursavailable should a cadet require extraassistance. Requirements:For all courses in Naval Communicationscadets must have internet connection,computer/laptop/tablet and be availableon the final day of the course.

Pre-requisites:Recommended PCOC (Pleasure CraftOperator Course) before ROC beginsin week 4 Target AgeGroup: ROC: 12-16. Description: Participants will have theability to earn up to threequalifications while participating in theareas of concentration: RadioOperator Certificate (Maritime),International Flags and PhoneticAlphabet and Communicating usingSemaphore. International Flags and PhoneticAlphabet will be conducted in a one-week module. Cadets will be providedwith all the necessary knowledge toobtain 1 of the communicationbadges. Cadets will be able to identifyeach of the nternational flags, theirmeaning and recite the phoneticalphabet in preparation for earningthe qualification.  Timings: This will be a low facilitationactivity in which cadets will self-studywith the option of attending tutorialhours to receive assistance.  Communicate using Semaphore willbe conducted over the course of 2weeks. Cadets will be provided with allthe necessary knowledge and skill toobtain 1 of the communicationbadges. Cadets will learn to send andreceive messages using Semaphore inpreparation for earning thequalification. Timings: 2 sessions a week will beheld each week with the testoccurring on the final Friday of the 2-week module. Tutorial hours will alsobe offered should a cadet need extraassistance. Cadets are able to self-study should they wish.

In each of the modules thecadets will explore topic areas such astime management, planning andpreparation and risk management. Bythe end of the 5 weeks cadets wouldhave successful planned a leadershipexercise considering all aspects of asuccessful activity. Cadets will be ableto use these skills to assist their corpsand squadron training officers. Themodules in this course have beendesigned to stand alone so cadets willhave the opportunity to participate inall of the modules or just the ones thatinterest them. Timings: Cadets will have facilitatedtraining 3 times a week for 1.5 hours.Tutorial hours will be held 2 times aweek for 1 hour each time. Dates: 13 Jul - 14 Aug. Requirements: Must have internetconnection, computer/laptop/tablet.

Training provided in this course willcover navigation, GPS usage, safety, andgeocaching website resources. This coursewill involve using a smartphone as a GPSdevice to navigate to hidden “caches” thatare publiclyaccessible through the sport of Geocache. Timings: Cadets will have facilitated training3 times a week for 1-1.5 hours. Tutorialhourswill be offered 2 times a week for 30-45mins each time. Dates: 13 Jul - 14 Aug. Requirements:Must have internet connection and accessto computer/laptop/tablet and/orsmartphone capable of supporting an app.

Cadets will beencouraged to watch instructional videosand come to tutorial sessions to receiveassistance. Each Friday cadets will beinvited to participate in an on-lineChallenge to test the overall design andstrength of their model rope bridge. Timings: Each week a tutorial will be heldin which cadets are encouraged to comeand get assistance if required. On-LineChallenges will be conducted each Fridayfor an hour. Dates: 13 Jul - 14 Aug. Requirements: Must have internetconnection, computer/laptop or tablet,rope or boot laces, chair, twine or dentalfloss. Cadets are encouraged to usematerial from around the house toconstruct their bridges.

Thecadets will all participate a Virtual Mess Dinnerduring the last week of the summer period (Aug11-14), which will include cadets from across thecountry and special guests. Timings: This will be a low facilitation activity inwhich cadets will self-study with the option ofattending tutorial hours to receive assistance.Final Mess Dinner will occur during the week ofAug 11-14. Dates: 13 Jul - 14 Aug. Requirements:Must have internet connection,computer/laptop/tablet.

Pre-requisites: Nil. Target Age Group: 15-16. Description: The Citizen Scientists andExplorers Course will be conducted overthe course of 5 weeks. Cadets willcontribute to the completion of theCanadian Museum of Nature’s initiative,“Expedition Arctic Botany”, providereflections on their own experience andtheir learning as well as discuss impacts (toscience and the environment, for Canada,and for themselves and the CadetProgram) of the activity and theirparticipation. We want to challenge theCadet program (adults and senior cadets)to complete the 13k returns still required.  Timings: Scheduled synchronoussessions = 2 x 1.5 hours per week.  Cadetswill do independent work outside of thescheduled timing.  Dates: 13 Jul - 14 Aug. Requirements: internet connectivityand Laptop/computer/tablet.
