Welcome Back! Hello Futuraskolan International School Community!

I would like to sincerely welcome you to or welcome you back to our school community.

We are ready and hopeful for this school year; that we will able to welcome parents back into our school (in a safe manner) and to enhance our learning with field trips, guest speakers, and parent evenings.

We are off to a great start in our learning. We have completed our welcome unit ‘Brainwaves’ and have all started our first units of learning from Grade 1 to Grade 9.

We are happy for you to join us on our learning journey!

Nicole MacDonald, Principal, and the entire staff of Futuraskolan International School of Stockholm.

Community Exchange

Community Exchange is a program we operate in our Middle School with the expectation of empowering our students to show initiative and demonstrate perseverance through voluntary service to others (individuals or groups) while develop skills such as collaboration, problem solving and decision making.

During our Academic Year, we expect students to complete the same number of hours as their Grade level (6,7,8 or 9). Students and families are welcome to facilitate their own opportunities. School opportunities will be presented to students during mentor time.

Global Citizenship

The goals for our Global Citizenship Program (GCP) are: 1) to promote a culture of global citizenship in our school, 2) to engage our students with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 3) to do fundraising for meaningful causes, such as supporting our sister school in the Philippines, 4) to develop partnerships, with other Futuraskolans, local aid agencies and other organizations, 5) to provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills as future global leaders, 6) to celebrate global days, such as the upcoming Peace Day on 21 September, and7) to promote environmental and sustainability values

This year we plan to focus on these two UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG12 Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13 Climate Action

Steve Zeff is our GCP Coordinator. Please feel free to contact him with any ideas you might have.

COVID Questions Should my learner stay home?It is still important to remind students and staff to stay home even in case of mild symptoms. The Swedish Public Health Agency recommends that students with symptoms of covid-19 be tested. It is not possible to distinguish COVID-19 from other infections from only the symptoms – a laboratory test is required.

Can my learner wear a mask?If you and/or you child wish to wear a mask in school, please feel free to do what is safe for you. Possible exceptions include lunch, snack, certain PE activities, etc.

Will you send my learner home?Yes. we must prioritize the safety of all learners and staff. If your child presents symptoms of COVID we will call you to come and collect them from school.

What are the symptoms?Among the reported symptoms are: Cough, Fever, DifficultyBreathing, Runny nose, Blocked nose, Sore throat, Headache, Nausea, Muscle and joint pain, Loss of smell and taste, Diarrhoea

Can the symptoms be change? The list of symptoms may be adjusted over time, since we update our information as new knowledge becomes available, e.g. in scientific studies or from the WHO. It is very important that you stay at home if you feel ill.

Where can I call for more information? If you can no longer manage the illness on your own, please call 1177 for medical advice (available in English).
