Summer Reading Wish List
What is Kids Read Now?
Over the summer, most children lose many
of their reading skills. Reading books every day over the summer keeps their brains ready for a great school year in the fall.
Kids Read Now (KRN) is a non-profit summer reading program that keeps children reading all summer long. Your school has paid to enroll your child in this program. That means your child will get eight new books this summer plus the MyStories that they can keep forever FREE!
Follow the steps below to keep your child reading all summer long!
Then, learn more about how the KRN program works on the next page.
How can you help? You can return the paper form or scan the QR code which will take you to portal.kidsreadnow.org where you can update your contact information and see the books your child selected at school. If your child is not attending school in person, you may also be prompted to select books with them from our Wish List.
Your child may have circled the books that they
chose so you can see what they will be reading, and get them excited about reading!
Your school will invite you to a Family Reading Event in the spring. At this event, your child will receive their first book, and you will learn more about the summer reading program.

Tips for helping your child learn to read:
To figure out if a book is too hard for your child to read by
themselves, ask them to read a few pages out loud. If they
mispronounce or stumble over more than two words, the
book is too hard for them to read by themselves. You will
need to read the book with them! Otherwise, they may
become frustrated or discouraged. That is not what YOU
or KIDS READ NOW wants.
Challenging vs. Too Hard?
• Read often. If your child sees you reading, they
will want to read too!
• Make reading part of your child’s routine.
• Read aloud to each other, or ask your child to
read to a pet or stuffed animal.
• Help your child find books that fit their
interests—if they are interested in what they
are reading, they will read more! Take them to
libraries and used bookstores often!
• Make it easy for your student to read by finding
a special, quiet place to read.
• Talk about books with your child; use our
Discovery Sheets to ask questions that
will help them understand what they read.
• Download the Kids Read Now App for easy
access to their reading list and reporting.

KIDS READ NOW quieren.
