There, Their and They’re • There are lots of homophones in the English language. Today we are focusing on: there, their and they’re

• ‘there’ refers to a place or position of something.

The children are playing over there.

There is an aeroplane in the sky.

• ‘their’ is a possessive adjective. This means it shows who owns something or who it belongs to.

The children are wearing their school uniform.

• ‘they’re’ is a contraction. This means it is a shorter way of saying ‘they are’
