Recent calculations by the United States Naval Observatory have confirmed theorbital perturbation exhibited by Uranus and Neptune, which Dr. Thomas C. VanFlandern, an astronomer at the observatory, says could be explained by a singleundiscovered planet. He and a colleague, Dr. Robert Harrington, calculate thatthe 10th planet should be two to five times more massive than Earth and have ahighly elliptical orbit that takes it some 5 billion miles beyond that of Pluto hardly next-door but still within the gravitational influence of the Sun.

Some astronomers have reacted cautiously to the 10th-planet predictions. Theyremember the long, futile quest for the planet Vulcan inside the orbit of Mercury;Vulcan, it turned out, did not exist. They wonder why such a large object as a10th planet escaped the exhaustive survey by Mr. Tombaugh, who is sure it is notin the two-thirds of the sky he examined. But according to Dr. Ray T. Reynolds ofthe Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA, other astronomers are so sureof the 10th planet, they think theres nothing left but to name it.

journeys of the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes may help to locate the nameless body.

Some astronomers say the heat-emitting object is an unseen collapsed star or possibly a "browndwarf" a proto-star that never got hot enough to become a star. However, a growingnumber of astronomers insist that the object is a dark, gaseous mass that is slowly evolvinginto a planet.

For decades, astronomers have noted that the orbits of two huge, distant planets Neptune andUranus deviate slightly from what they should be according to the laws of physics.Gravitational pull from Planet X would explain that deviation.

In January 1981, several daily newspapers carried a report that Dr. Richard Harrington and hiscolleague, Dr. Thomas Van Flandern, of the US Naval Observatory, had told a meetingof the American Astronomical Society that irregularities in the orbit of Pluto indicatedthat the solar system contained a 10th planet. A similar story was run by the New YorkTimes on June 19, 1982.

One year later, in 1983, the newly launched IRAS (Infrared Astronomical Satellite) quickly foundPlanet-X: A heavenly body as large as Jupiter and part of this solar system has beenfound in the direction of the constellation of Orion by an orbiting telescope wrote theWashington Post.

In August 1988, a report by Harrington calculated that its mass is probably 4 times that ofEarth. In 1992, Harrington and Van Flandern published their findings and their conclusionthat there is an intruder planet. The search was narrowed down to the southern skies, belowthe ecliptic.

Planet-X is likely to be a brown dwarf whose orbit takes it back and forth between our Sun andour Suns twin. Planet-X has an orbit which takes 3660 years.

When a planets orbit is between two suns, instead of round one, that orbit is a bit peculiar. Itspends 99.99% of its time slowly going away from one of the sunsto reach the half-way

point.

Thenthe gravity of the sun its approaching takes over, and in a relative flash it travels theother half of its journey. Planet-X reached the halfway point sometime in 2000. It only takesabout 3 years to travel the rest of the distanceItll be cooking with its greatest speed by thetime it passes. Once it crosses Plutos orbit, it will only take 90 days to pass right betweenEarth and the Sun.

The most likely date for its passage and effect on planet Earth is springtime 2003. In 1982, evenNASA, momentarily officially recognized the existence of Planet-X:

An object is really there beyond the outermost planets.

Today, NASA is trying to sweep the danger under the carpet, claiming that it is nothing more thana large asteroid. But, whereas until early 2001, only the largest telescopes could have seenPlanet-X, now even small to mid-level observatories are sighting it. On the 4th of April 2001,the Lowell Observatory reported its magnitude and co-ordinates.

Times and Dates:

Careful investigation by W.A. Johnston of the Niagara River bed disclosed that thepresent channel was cut by the falls less than 4,000 years ago. And equallycareful investigation of the Bear River delta by Hanson showed that the age ofthis delta was 3,600 years. The study by Claude Jones of the lakes of the GreatBasin showed that these lakes, remnants of larger glacial lakes, have existed onlyabout 3,500 years. Gales obtained the same result on Owen Lake in California andalso Van Winkle on Albert and Summer lakes in Oregon.

Radiocarbon analysis,

by Libby also indicates that plants associated with extinct animals (mastodons) inMexico are probably only 3,500 years old. Similar conclusions concerning the latesurvival of the Pleistocene fauna were drawn by various field workers in manyparts of the American continent. Suess and Rubin found with the help ofradiocarbon analysis that in the mountains of the western United States iceadvanced only 3000 years ago.

The Florida fossil beds,

at Vero and Melbourne proved - by the artifacts found there together with humanbones and the remains of animals, many of which are extinct - that these fossilbeds were deposited between 2,000 and 4,000 years ago. From observations onbeaches in numerous places all over the world, Daly concluded that there was achange in the ocean level, which dropped sixteen to twenty feet 3,500 years ago.Kuenen and others confirmed Daly's findings with evidence derived from Europe.

R.A. Daly observed that in a great many places all around the world there is auniform emergence of the shore line of 18 to 20 feet. In the southwest Pacific, onthe islands belonging to the Samoan group but spread over two hundred miles,the same emergence is evident. Nearly halfway around the world, at St. Helena inthe South Atlantic, the lava is punctuated by dry sea caves, the floors of whichare covered with water-worn pebbles, now dusty because untouched by the surf.

The emergence there is also 20 feet. At the Cape of Good Hope caves andbeaches also prove recent and sensibly uniform emergence to the extent of about20 feet.

Marine terraces,

indicating similar emergence, are found along the Atlantic coast from New York tothe Gulf of Mexico; for at least 1,000 miles along the coast of eastern Australia;along the coasts of Brazil, southwest Africa, and many islands in the Pacific,Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. The emergence is recent as well as of the same orderof magnitude, (20 feet). Judging from the condition of beaches, terraces, andcaves, the emergence seems to have been simultaneous on every shore. In(Daly's) opinion the cause lies in the sinking of the level of all seas on the globe.Alternatively, Daly thinks it could have resulted from a deepening of the oceansor from an increase in their areas. Of special interest is the time of the change.Daly estimated the sudden drop of oceanic level to (have occurred) some 3,000to 4,000 years ago.

The Ivory Islands,

In 1797 the body of a mammoth, with flesh, skin, and hair, was found innortheastern Siberia. The flesh had the appearance of freshly frozen beef; it wasedible, and wolves and sled dogs fed on it without harm. The ground must havebeen frozen ever since the day of their entombment; had it not been frozen, thebodies of the mammoths would have putrefied in a single summer, but theyremained unspoiled for some thousands of years. In some mammoths, whendiscovered, even the eyeballs were still preserved. (All) this shows that the coldbecame suddenly extreme .. and knew no relenting afterward. In the stomachsand between the teeth of the mammoths were found plants and grasses that donot grow now in northern Siberia .. 'Nothing' perhaps but the few survivors who were able to carry the tradition of thiscataclysm to us today. Myths relating to the falling sky may be found amongstnot only the Celts, but the Lapps of Finland, Eskimos of Greenland, the ancientpeoples of Mexico, China, Tibet, the tribes of Samoa, and those of eastern and

western Africa. Obviously not all life that was left on earth perished during thisseries of cataclysms, but accounts of those who did are plentiful.
