“CAS America has had a solid working relationship with Stiles Education since 1995. Many of our employees have benefited from the training programs provided by Stiles Education. One of the most significant contributions to our ability to digest the new technologies is found in our ability to build a front line of defense to deal ‘in-house’ with machine down time and on-going M&R. By having a well trained in-house person we have saved many thousands of dollars over the years.”

– Joseph Cannon Jr., Owner, CAS America Inc.

“We have had more than 30 associates attend Stiles training on a wide variety of topics and equipment, and have always been impressed with the quality of the training they have received. The training is professionally done, thorough, and conducted by knowledgeable instructors.”

– Michael Fedrigo, VP of Operations, Nucraft Furniture Co.

“When buying new machinery, we always consider an organization’s level of support and service. The Stiles Education program has always been a great ‘bonus’ to any purchase. Once you attend a Stiles Class, you really understand how important it is to be trained by their professionals.”

– Mike Twyford, Vice President, K & Z Cabinet Co Inc.

“Northway Industries Inc. has worked with Stiles Education for a number of years utilizing them to train our employees on some of the following software and machinery which has allowed us to achieve a faster start up and good quality in a very short time frame. We had customized, onsite training at Northway for our employees which again shortened our start up time and enabled us to produce new products we were unable to produce previously. We have gained new customers due to this equipment and the training we received. We look forward to working with Stiles Education in the future to train our employees and continue to stay on the leading edge of technology.”

– Bob Portzline, V.P./Special Projects, Northway Industries, Inc.

“The course did help me understand the machine better. The hands on approach with machines onsite and simulators were great. I really enjoyed my experience at Stiles and hope to take more classes in the future.”

– Mike Skwarek, R T London Co., EB102, January 2009

Dear Students:

It doesn’t seem like it‘s been twenty years that we have been

serving your training needs. However in May of 1990 our first

class on edgebander operation had a total of six students. From

that one course we have grown considerably in both training

offerings and number of sessions with our alumni now over

29,000. Many of these students have taken multiple classes to

build their expertise and increase their company’s ability to be

competitive.

Stiles Education has come to be known as the education and

training center in the woodworking industry. We are also

expanding our curriculum to include plastics, composites and

other advanced materials. We are very proud to be expanding

our program as we continue to create a positive impact on your

company’s most valuable asset: your personnel.

If you have already taken advantage of Stiles Education courses,

we thank you and trust that they built upon your knowledge and

skills. If you have yet to enroll in one of our classes, the

opportunity is yours. We look forward to another twenty years

of serving your educational needs.

We continue to strive to offer the very best training experience. Along with being proud of the number of students we have educated, Stiles Education continues to be the only training center in our industry to offer accredited classes that exceed the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Stiles Education has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Rd, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. In obtaining this approval, Stiles Education has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard which is widely recognized as the standard of good practice internationally. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status, Stiles Education is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard.

Stiles Education also provides training that is in compliance with the skill standards as developed by the Wood Career Alliance (WCA) of North America. The WCA skill standards were developed as a way for employers, employees and educational institutions to determine what level a worker should execute tool and machinery setup, operation and troubleshooting. The WCA icon specifies the classes aligned with these standards.

Stiles Education is recognized by the Homag Group of Schopfloch, Germany. Of Homag’s 19 sales partners throughout the world, Stiles is one of the first distributors to earn this international honor. Stiles received this distinction by meeting standards on training center management, depth and quality of curriculum as well as the proven abilities of the teaching faculty.

Executive Briefing ConferenceSince education and learning are critical to the industry’s future success, Stiles has offered the Executive Briefing Conference (EBC) under the auspices of Stiles Education since 2002. The EBC has become a venue for businesses of all sizes to explore ideas, find out about new technologies and discover opportunities in a non-commercial environment. Providing strategic and practical information to help solve manufacturing challenges, the EBC is an opportunity to gain a broad perspective of the business landscape and discover “What’s Now, What’s New, and What’s Next.”

For information on the next EBC, visit www.stilesmachinery.com/ebc.

International Tour of TechnologyIn 1993, Stiles introduced the international tour of technology as an opportunity to observe leading-edge solutions. Since its inception, over 900 woodworkers from all sectors of the industry and all regions of the US have participated in this experience.

Tours have included visits to small family-owned shops, large manufacturing facilities and everything in between. Focusing on specific production capabilities combined with innovations in automation, products and processes range from the cabinet industry to office furniture, to fixtures and millwork plants. The tour visits some of the world’s most innovative, efficient and productive facilities. What might seem futuristic today will be the industry standard tomorrow. Tour attendees gain insights on ways to make their business more successful by observing best practices from global influences.

For information on the next tour of technology, please contact Steve Waltman at 616.698.7500 ext. 1222 or [email protected].

e-learningUnlike traditional classroom studies, e-learning is a course or program where the students rarely or never meet face-to-face, nor access educational facilities, because they study online and/or with a computer. This approach offers many benefits, including elimination of travel expenses and reduction in lost labor due to time away from the job.

Computer-Based TrainingComputer-Based Training (CBT) is a “Work at Your Own Pace” course that allows the student to increase their knowledge when their schedule allows. This type of training is available at any time and at any location with a multimedia capable PC. Stiles Education offers several CBT modules designed to advance the skills learned in the traditional instructor-led courses. Interactive exercises and simulations clarify topics and allow the student to practice skills and review critical concepts when needed.

Stiles Education CBT courses include: • EB075 Electrical Maintenance for Brandt Edgebanders - CBT (see page 29) • MC095E woodNest Basic - CBT (see page 24) • MC075 Intermediate woodWOP for CNC Machining Centers - CBT (see page 25) • PS094E Holzma CAD 4 Controller - CBT (see page 37)

Stiles Online Training Sessions (Webinars)Online training sessions, or webinars, provide instruction on specific topics. All you need is a computer with an internet connection and phone to conduct an interactive course between the student(s) and the instructor. A typical online training session is a live, internet-based course. The instructor lectures and illustrates with examples while students complete exercises based on real production process. Students can ask questions during the session and the instructor will explain and demonstrate how to perform the tasks. Students can also participate in group discussions.

Visit www.stilesmachinery.com/se to see a list of webinar topics. Customized webinars are also available.

Courses on CD-ROMStiles Education partnered with New Standard Institute and Simutech Multimedia Inc. to expand e-learning course topics. These CD-ROM courses offer the same level of professional training and convenience as our CBTs.

Visit www.stilesmachinery.com/se to review and order CD-ROMs.
