ICAO
• ICAO is one of 38 United Nations specialised agencies
• Headquarters in Montreal
• Regional Offices in Bangkok, Cairo, Dakar, Lima, Mexico, Nairobi and Paris
The ICAO organization
– Insure the safe and orderly growth of international civil aviation throughout the world
– Encourage the development of airways, airports, and air navigation facilities for international civil aviation
– Promote safety of flight in international air navigation
– Promote generally the development of all aspects of international civil aeronautics
Objectives
Standards and Recommended Practices (SARP’s)
• Standards and Recommended Practices are set out in 18 Annexes to the Convention
• Cover all technical and operational aspects of international civil aviation – Annex 6 ( Operations of Aircraft ) addresses Cabin Crew.
• Standards are specifications the uniform application of which is necessary for the safety or regularity of international civil aviation
• Recommended Practice is one agreed to be desirable but not essential

COSCAP OBJECTIVE
• Enhance the safety and efficiency of air transport through the establishment of a self-sustaining sub-regional cooperative entity providing technical services in safety oversight to the Member States

• COSCAP – South Asia– Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka
– Commenced Operations February 1998
• COSCAP-Southeast Asia – Cambodia, Hong Kong China, Macao China, Indonesia, Lao PDR,
Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, Brunei, Timor-Leste
– Commenced Operations July 2001
