INTRAKAT’s steel and electromechanical production unit is amongst

the most important in Greece and the most modern in Europe.

The factory headquartered in Giannouli Larissa, is built on a 125,000m2 lot

(25,000m2 built facilities) and employs more than 300 persons.

The factory, established in 1987, was bought out by INTRACOM in 1994 and named INTRAMET. In 2005, INTRAMET merged with INTRAKAT, creating an autonomous steel construction business unit.

Because of its vertical organization, the factory provides a full range

of services that include: study, design, development, manufacturing,

and installation of complex steel and electromechanical structures.

In addition, the company is dynamically involved in defence applications,

with increasing export activities.

The core function of the unit is to provide competitive and high - quality

products and services to Greek and international markets, through

the continuous upgrading and introduction of innovative practices

and strategies.

The factory’s R & D department is responsible for designing

and engineering steel and electromechanical construction projects

and for developing new INTRAKAT products.

The INTRAKAT factory consists of the following units:

Steel Construction Unit (steel products and structures).

Electromechanical Structures (integrated metal sheet fabrications

and defence applications).

Hot-dip galvanizing unit.

Dye shop (full range of dyeing technologies).

All production lines are based on CAD/CAM systems and robotic applications, and the independent Galvanizing and Dye units enrich the wide range of services provided to clients.

In steel and electromechanical construction, the factory is widely

recognised for the high standards of its products and services. In addition,

sound and responsible environmental practices constitute an integral part

of INTRAKAT’s strategic development.

The factory is certified for the following Quality Assurance Systems:

Manufacturing (ΕΝ ISO 9001).

Environment (ΕΝ ISO 14001).

Moreover, the unit’s quality assurance system, that offers full

traceability on all processes, and its quality control lab facilitate

The Electromechanical Construction Unit(E.C.U.) consists of an 8,000m2 facility, that manufactures integrated sheet metal (steel and aluminum)products and defencesystem parts.

The core activities of the unit are:

Sheet metal processing of steel, INOX, and aluminum;

punching lines and robotic bending machines.

ΜΙG/TIG welding and spot welding for aluminum and steel parts.

Installation of sheet metal inserts.

Surface protection processes.

Silk-screening and marking.

Fabrication of shelters, telecommunication cabinets,

racks and sub-racks.

The Electromechanical Construction Unit provides several specialized processes, including:

Surface Protection: Aluminum and stainless steel passivation.

Aluminum chromate conversion coating.

Aluminum and stainless steel nickel-plating.

Zinc phosphate.

Electrolytic zinc planting.

Dyeing Processes: Epoxy and polyester powder coating.

Wet paint.

The factory’s electromechanical construction unit produces prefabricated and specially adapted sheet metal products, and interior and exterior enclosures for equipment housing.

CABINETSThe unit produces a large variety of products according

to client requirements and needs.

Special cabinets for housing:

Electrical and electronic equipment.

Telecommunications and network systems.

Fiber optics.

Cabinets are for interior or exterior use.

INTRAKAT’s cabinets include connectivity, management

and expandability features. In addition, the company provides

custom - made solutions to meet client requirements.

INDOOR CABINETSA variety of cabinets and related parts for interior use are

available. Dimensions vary according to ETSI and 19’’ standards.

(available with or without doors).

EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) cabinets.

OUTDOOR CABINETSOutdoor cabinets are designed to operate under adverse weather

conditions according to the stipulations of ETSI 300 019-1-4,

annex Α1.

Anti-vandalism cabinets.

Weather resistant cabinets (protection grade IP55).

These cabinets provide ensured performance in highly

corrosive environments. The cabinets are constructed

of hot-dip galvanized steel sheets (zinc coating

600 gr/m2) and are subjected to special phosphate

processing and electrostatic powder coating.

Earthquake resistant cabinets with zero impact

on construction integrity.

Temperature regulators and double insulated walls

ensure equipment remains cool.

Temperature regulators are also incorporated to manage

the operation of heat exchangers and fans in the cabinets.

The regulators can support alarm signalling

(NMS reporting).

TELEPHONE BOOTHSAttractively designed Telephone Booths that provide comfort

to users, for indoor or outdoor installations.

CONSOLES (CONTROL PANELS)Consoles are conceptualized and designed to meet the ergonomic

needs of users.

Examples: air traffic control tower consoles (Airports of Athens

and Teheran); sea traffic control consoles (Ministry of Mercantile

Steel Products.

Cutting, bending, surface protection, and dyeing of steel,

aluminum, and stainless steel. All processes meet or exceed

required military standards. With specialized equipment

for surface protection and coating processes, the factory

responds to virtually every need in the field.

Upgrading and modification of military equipment including,

amongst others, armoured personnel transport vehicles.

FACILITIESThe hot - dip galvanizing unit of the factory is one of the largest

and most modern units in Greece, occupying an area of 2.000m2.

INTRAKAT’s state - of - the - art galvanizing process ensures optimum

quality surface coating against corrosion and is executed in accordance

with International Standards such as ISO 1461, ASTM A - 123, DIN 50928,

DIN 50976, BS729.

The galvanizing unit is equipped with eleven (11) tanks that are served

by seven (7) overhead-cranes.

The zinc used in the galvanizing process of the factory is of SHG quality

and 99,995% purity.

The unit can galvanize structures up to a length of 14 meters.

Galvanizing provides full anticorrosive protection under adverse

conditions (sea, corrosive, and acid environment).

Hot-dip galvanizing ensures maintenance - free products, corrosion

protection, durable coating, long product life, reliability, and low

long - term costs for most applications.

ENVIRONMENTΙΝΤRΑΚΑΤ’s factory manufactures high quality galvanized structures

and is innovative in its environmental protection practices.

Factory facilities include biological degreasing and neutralization systems

operating as a “closed loop of waste treatment and recycling” with

the use of environmentally friendly chemical compounds during

the surface cleaning process.

Waste is recycled and re-used as chemical components in the production

process, which reduces the processing time and zinc consumption,

while at the same time ensures full environmental management impact.

The minimal final waste emissions are not hazardous to the environment.

The factory’s chemical laboratory performs recurring tests of the chemical

composition of acid, flux, and zinc in the tanks. At the same time,

the closed-loop zinc tank does not pollute the atmosphere

due to the highly effective absorption and filtering system.

This way, health and safety of personnel are ensured.
