PIAZZA DEL CARMINE Roof plan

IL MURO E IL CAMPOFlorence, Italy

Muro e Campo is meant to become a place where people can not only learn about local and foreign food cultures, but also a place where they can have an opportunity to expe-rience them. The campo is on the northern side of the site. It contains 23 trees that were added in recent renovations and it also includes cy-press trees that line the street leading into the piazza of the church. The Building then acts as a wall on the site separating the lush green-ery of the northern side from the paved piaz-za. The museum helps facilitate a place where old and new, built and unbuilt converge.

EL TELARColumbia Heights, Washington D.C.

Inspired by the history of the community I wanted to design a structure that kept with the organization and style of the row houses on the site. To match the material of the pre-existing houses I chose to use rammed earth walls , which references the brick used in the row houses, but also ties the structure back to the earth. My housing system is designed for large established families to allow for the residents to move into the neighborhood, however there are still options for single young families.

DESING THINKINGGraphic and Prototyping work

During my design thinking studion we were tasked with developing a system derived from a series of japanese joints . Each one of the joints had to be made using a CNC router. I developed a series of modules that inter-locked to eventually create a larger structure.

The second half of thesemester we worked on graphic representations, for which I produced a series of images and lo-gos with the theme being maize. Through this project I explored the visual repre-sentation of processes and logo design.
