God really does provide for those that are grateful and generous. This is very difficult for people that don’t live a stewardship lifestyle to believe. People are skeptical and say it’s just coincidence. If you are skeptical, try living a stewardship lifestyle for just one month – be generous with your gifts of time, talent and treasure and see how God provides for your needs.

A LETTER FROM THE BISHOP OF HONOLULU!A LETTER FROM THE BISHOP OF HONOLULU!A LETTER FROM THE BISHOP OF HONOLULU!A LETTER FROM THE BISHOP OF HONOLULU!

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Peace be with you!

Please VOTE in the November 4 general election! Please VOTE in the November 4 general election! Please VOTE in the November 4 general election! Please VOTE in the November 4 general election!

When God gives us a gift, he expects that we use itfor the good of all. We have been given the gift of livingin a democratic country, and this blessing also involves agrave responsibility. We must participate in ourgovernment “of the people, by the people, and for thepeople.” Voting is one of the concrete ways we can assurethat the values we hold dear for the common good canbe enshrined in the law of the land. We vote these valuesnot only in particular questions or propositions, but byelecting public servants who will work for the same valueswe know are so important.

Among the values that are essential are: respect forlife from the moment of conception to natural death; thesanctity of marriage between one man and one womanas the basis of the healthy family, which leads to ahealthy culture; care for the poor and most vulnerable;freedom based on the truth of the human person andreligious freedom.

I am grateful to the Knights of Columbus for theirwillingness to help raise our awareness of the need to useour God-given liberties for the good of all by helping usget out the vote. I encourage all to register to ask for apermanent absentee ballot to make voting as easy aspossible, to do the penance of studying the candidatesand their stances and records, and to VOTEVOTEVOTEVOTE on or before on or before on or before on or beforeNovemberNovemberNovemberNovember 4 4 4 4. May the Lord guide us and enlighten us all!

Sincerely yours in Christ,Most Reverend Larry SilvaBishop of Honolulu
