She is a graduating senior at LaRue County High School and an active FFA member, serving as chapter reporter this year. She served three years on Teen Court under District Judge Derek Reed and last year was a representative from LaRue County at the state 4-H Kentucky Youth Seminar at University of Kentucky. She plans to attend Western Kentucky University and pursue a career in veterinary service. Michelle Benningfield Prime Time Band to perform A dance will be held 7-10 p.m. March 30 at the LaRue County Senior Center, 112 N. Walters Ave., Hodgenville. The Prime Time Band will per- form with musicians Jim Walters, Ronnie Priddy, Leroy Sherrard, Larry Seelye, Doug Gary and Joyce Oliver. For more infor- mation, call 737-5655 or 270-766-4437. NARFE to meet National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet April 2 at Nolin RECC, Ring Road, Elizabethtown. The Heartland Service Center for civil service questions and concerns will open at 9 a.m. and the business meeting will begin at 11 a.m. The program will be several display tables of crafts, businesses and travel. Members will share information about horses, remote control airplanes and Longaberger baskets and there will also be a table to buy and sell used books. SENIOR ACTIVITIES Coffey to walk in Oaks Survivor Parade Ramona Coffey of Hodgenville is one of 138 cancer survivors who will walk in the May 4 Survivors Parade on Kentucky Oaks Day. Those honored were selected through an online nomination and selection process. Three hundred sixty women from around the country were nominated. Coffey, circulation manager/office manager for The LaRue County Herald News, is battling ovarian cancer. She will receive two tickets to the Kentucky Oaks and a lunch spon- sored by Churchill Downs, then participate in a parade of pink at the Churchill Downs main track prior to the Oaks race. The Oaks is the Derby’s compan- ion race for 3- year-old fillies. Patrons are encouraged to wear pink, the official color of the Oaks. The event raises funds and aware- ness for cancer research. In a three-year span, Churchill Downs has helped to raise more than $420,000 for can- cer research through its Kentucky Oaks Day activities. Ramona Coffey Murphy-Beard The Murphy-Beard family reunion is noon April 7 at the LaRue County Sportsman Club.
