  • Overview

Fault Management z The fault management functions consist of querying faults, locating

faults quickly, isolating and recovering faulty points, and forwarding maintenance information to related users in time.

Alarm Management Functions (2) Correlation Analysis

z Alarm Suppression When an alarm with high severity level occurs, only this major alarm is

reported while the lower-level alarms related to this alarm are not reported.

z Alarm Timing It is used for defining the action when an alarm exists for a long time,

for example, changing the alarm to a higher severity level or generating a new alarm.

z Alarm Merging The alarms of the same type merge into one alarm, which is reported

as a representative. z Alarm Counting

A new user-defined alarm is generated when the count of the same alarm occuring during a unit time reaches the specified value.

Basic ConceptsHow to query fault alarmsHow to filter fault alarmsHow to check a fault informationHow to create a fault reportFunction Enhancement from U9.1 to U9.3Troubleshooting Case Analysis

Case1: NetNumen M31 receives fewer alarms than the OMM. 1) Check whether the NetNumen M31 has set the

rule for shielding the alarms. 2) If the lower-level OMM version is

womcrv3.17.310, the OMM will not report the following 3 types of alarms to the NetNumen M31.z Alarm code 16000: the foreground version is not

compatible with the background version.z 16001: the NodeB type is in error.z 16002: the foreground version is not compatible with the

background version and the NodeB type is in error. 3) The alarm for performance data delay on the

OMM is not reported to the NetNumen M31.

  • Case2: The alarms on the OMM and the NetNumen M31 are incorrect. Some NodeB and cells are abnormal, but the NMS doesn't show any alarm for that. Check whether the NMS has set the alarm rules. If the

NMS has set related rules for shielding or filtering the alarm, the alarm will not be displayed.

Check whether the NodeB has set the rule for debugging. If the NodeB is in the debugging status, the alarms of the NodeB and the cells will not be reported in real-time manner.

Case3: The alarm is recovered, but the NMS says the alarm cannot get recovered automatically.

Check whether the NMS has just been updated to the new version.z If the NMS has just been updated to the new version,

you need to manually clear off the original alarms on the NMS and get the foreground and background alarms synchronized.

z If the NMS version has not been updated just now, you need to report the problem to the R&D engineer for fault locating.

  • Case4: The time of the alarm query is beyond the range set on the client. Check whether the time zone setting of the client

is consistent with that of the server.

Case5: The time of the alarm query is beyond the range set on the client. Check whether the time zone setting of the client

is consistent with that of the server.
