Liquid Solid gas
The 3 states of matter!!!!
Solid- the state of matter that has a definite shape of volume.
Particles are very close together they have a strong attrition for each other.
A. Solids!!!!!!
Molecule in a solid stay very close to each other and move very slow because its is cramped together.
Solids are has a definite shape and volume.
B. Solids!!!!!!
2 types of solids, Crystalline/amorphous
C. Solids!!!!!
Wood Paper My foot My big head Football Softball Baseball basketball
Ex: of Solids!!!!!
Liquid- is the state of matter that has definite volume but not a definite shape.
Particles move fast enough to overcome the attraction between some of the particles.
Liquids!!!!!
Particle's slide past each other. Liquids easily change shape.
B. Liquids!!!!
All liquids have surface tension. All liquids have viscosity. Water is a liquid. Soda is a liquid. Spit is a liquid.
Ex: Of Liquids!!!!!
Viscosity- a liquid resistance to flow the stronger the attraction between particles, the higher the viscosity.
Viscosity!!!!!
One small tank of helium can fill almost 700 balloons.
Its because, the tank is metal and the balloons are rubber, so the rubber can expand and the metal tank can’t.
Gas!!!!
Gas – the state of matter that has no definite shape or volume.
The amount of empty space between gas particles can change.
Particles in a gas move quickly, so they can break away from their attraction for other particles.
A. Gas!!!!!
Air is matter because we can move the air out of a bag.
We put a straw in the bag and put tap around the straw so no air can leave or get in.
Then we put our teacher on a upside down table with our bags under the table and blow at the same time and the air made the table rise.
