Penney Ooi Pleasanton, CA Previous Career: Loan Officer

“At WFG, I am in a nurturing environment where people encourage you and help you to succeed. With hard work and mentoring from both women and men, I was able to reach the highest field promotion level in the company. I love WFG because here everyone has the same opportunity to win.”

Independent associates of World Financial Group (WFG) help families from all walks of life rise financially. This may mean showing parents how to plan for their child’s education; working with a newly married couple to determine the right type and amount of life insurance they need to protect themselves; sharing financial concepts with a young woman so she can better secure her future.

However, WFG is not just about helping women and their families build better futures with the products and services offered. WFG also offers women a custom-made opportunity: business ownership in the financial services industry.

Opportunity: The reason women find their way to WFG.

Judy Hsiao Alviso, CA Previous Career: Financial Services

“Before I joined WFG, I worked in the financial services industry for many years. But I have never witnessed such numerous and profound opportunities for women as those that I have seen at WFG. This company offers a great business system that allows anyone to build his or her own financial services business. Women, in particular, can benefit from the tremendous support that is available, and they have equal opportunities to become great entrepreneurs. Here, there is nothing holding you back, and there is no limit to your success.”

The Power of Business OwnershipWFG makes business ownership in the lucrative financial services industry possible for many women. Through our business platform, we have removed many of the barriers that have kept people from achieving the dream of having their own business. With a low start-up cost – an administrative fee of just $100 (U.S.) and $125 (Canada) – you can launch a business that helps families like your own achieve their goals, and that gives you the income you need to have the life you deserve.

Become a WFG business owner. This is the place where you can be your own boss, set your own schedule, live your life on your terms and own your future.

Find Your Way to a Big OpportunityToday, there are more than 50,000 licensed independent WFG financial services professionals throughout North America. Each week, thousands of entrepreneurs start new WFG businesses, and there is no indication that the market is saturated. In fact, more WFG financial professionals are needed to reach the millions of individuals and families who have not yet planned or prepared enough for their futures.

Did you know the industry lost 12 percent of its advisors since 2008 as experienced financial services professionals retired?1 The financial services industry needs more people, especially those who can connect with families while also serving a powerful demographic: women.

A closer look at this tremendous market opportunity gives you an idea of the strong need for WFG businesses across North America, and how you can make a difference as a woman in this field.

Kathryn Wang Burlingame, CA Previous Career: Computer Sales & Special Ed. Teacher

“WFG is both inspiring and exciting because it provides people with equal opportunities for personal growth no matter your background – such as race, education, old or young – or when you join. And, it provides equal opportunities for financial services no matter if you are rich or poor.”

Connie Chen Sunnyvale, CA Previous Career: Researcher

“While doing this business, I’ve built up my belief that in life, there is no such thing as you can or you cannot — it’s all about if you really want to or if you don’t really want to! Life is a one-way journey, and we want to become the leader of our lives to explore, dream and discover! As women, it’s very easy to lose ourselves in taking care of our families. WFG provides an entrepreneurial platform to empower women to become financially free, mentally strong and confidently unstoppable!”

Helping FamiliesAs a WFG associate, you take part in our goal to help families have a better future, and create generations of people who understand the financial fundamentals that allow them to better manage and protect their money.

Did you know a study conducted by Harris Poll, which surveyed 2,033 individuals in the United States and 1,115 in Canada, showed that:2

• Roughly one-third of Americans and Canadians surveyed are worried about their financial circumstances

• 34 percent of Americans and 28 percent of Canadians surveyed don’t have life insurance

• More than a third of both survey groups don’t know when they will be able to retire (37 and 38 percent, respectively)

Many families, especially those of middle-income, have uncertain financial futures and may not get the help they need. The traditional financial services industry, which seems only to serve the wealthy, has left them behind. But WFG has built a new financial services industry that serves families and individuals of all incomes.

WFG business owner Racquel Ramlal and her family are just one of the millions of families WFG associates have helped. Here’s her story:

“My family wasn’t left behind because of WFG. Eleven years ago my parents became clients. We’ve always been interested in saving money, but we never had anyone who paid enough attention to us. And then someone from WFG sat down with us and was able to help my parents and was eventually able to help me. They sat down with me and helped me see a way to be able to build toward my financial independence. I know it works because it happened with me. And when I saw that, I said ‘Great. I can do this for other people, too.’”

As a WFG business owner, you can build a strong business by providing financial services to families in need.

Helping WomenMany WFG business owners are working hard to make a difference by serving the “women’s market,” which refers to the significant and growing financial assets held by women as well as their growing influence and control of financial decision making. Studies show women want to become more engaged in their finances,3 yet the industry has not changed to adequately serve them. In fact, it is estimated that the financial services industry could pay a penalty in lost business of $5 trillion in the United States alone for not meeting women’s needs.4

Page 6: 3013_5.16 Womens Piece (1)

4

This means the door is open for you to make a difference. When you consider the ways women contribute to their family’s financial well-being and to the general economy, the potential of your WFG business is clear:

United States

• There were 162 million females in the United States in 2014, compared to 157 million males5

• As of 2014, women’s participation in the workforce reached 57 percent6

• According to a March 2015 report, women control 51 percent of personal wealth7

• As of 2011, 40 percent of all households with children under age 18 included mothers who were either the sole or primary source of income for the family8

Canada

• In 2010, women made up 50.4 percent of the population and 48 percent of the workforce9

• As of July 2015, women controlled nearly 40 percent of investable assets10

Women want help from somebody who understands their needs and, according to a 2013 study, 70 percent say they would prefer to work with a female financial services representative.11 With your experience, knowledge, insight and the support of the WFG business platform, you can build a business that is equipped to truly engage and serve everyone in your community, including women and their families.

What You Can Do As an Independent Business OwnerAs a WFG business owner, you can serve hundreds, if not thousands, of families who are in need of help, and earn a favorable return on your skills, knowledge and time commitment.

World Financial Group Inc., World Financial Group Canada Inc. and their affiliates are Transamerica companies. Transamerica companies offer a wide array of life and health insurance and retirement solutions that can help create better tomorrows by protecting families and their dreams.

Angelica Haro San Dimas, CA Previous Career: Mortgage Loan Officer

“For me, a Latina woman, the WFG business opportunity has been a blessing. I’m a wife and a mother of two beautiful boys. The company’s advancement ladder is based on merit versus the workplace politics of corporate America. I enjoy the flexibility and total control of my time and earning potential. I couldn’t picture living any other way!”

Ellen Gao West Covina, CA Previous Career: Restaurant Owner

“We as women are always facing more challenges than men. However, WFG provides an amazing platform for women to build a huge business with equal opportunities. We can build our business as big as we want. And we can also achieve our dreams of living a financially independent life by using the platform. Additionally, we can provide our family the best lifestyle and give a positive example for our future generations. I’m extremely excited to use the WFG business platform, now and forever.”

With WFG dedicated to your business’ success, you have power in your corner, with a solid business platform as well as the resources and support you need to build a business that can change lives. Some of things you have access to as a WFG associate include:

• The marketing and administrative muscle of WFG’s corporate offices that support your business’ operations from day one and as it grows.

• Experienced field leaders, who have each built his or her own financial services business from the ground up. They have a vested interest in your success, and provide mentoring and training that can help you take your business to the next level.

• You also have the opportunity to take your business in different directions, whether that is: (1) primarily selling insurance products, (2) offering securities products in the United States through Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc. or selling mutual funds in Canada through WFG Securities Inc., or (3) providing a combination of both insurance and securities products.

Licensed WFG associates have access to some of the industry’s most well-known companies, giving your business access to products and services to help your clients:

• Replace income in the event of the unexpected loss of a loved one

• Create a source of savings

• Cover educational expenses for children

• Help fund a more comfortable retirement

• Create a legacy for their heirs

You’re ready for business once you receive field training from team leaders and become properly licensed and appointed by product providers. You can then start sharing the tools and guidance your clients need to make informed financial choices and meet their goals. As you build your clientele by helping more people, you can enjoy the rewards that come with independent business ownership. Plus, you will be on a level playing field where you will be recognized and rewarded for your successes.

Women’s Financial Power and Challenges

Women make or influence up to 80 percent of buying decisions.12 Despite this financial power, many face financial uncertainty due to these and other challenges:

The gender wage gap: A lifetime of earning less than men puts women far behind in terms of retirement readiness. They typically are less financially secure than their male counterparts and bring fewer resources to retirement. For example, in the United States, 45-year-old men who will retire at age 65 will fall $212,256 short, while women will be behind by $268,404.13

Care-taking responsibilities: Many women take time away from the workplace to care for children or loved ones, and according to one estimate, for every year a woman is out of the workforce she has to work five extra years to recover the lost income.14

Excelling in education but trailing in the workplace: In 2013, in both the United States and Canada, women outpaced men in the number of college and graduate degrees received, but they did not find proportional success in the workplace.15

Saving enough for retirement: Since women leave the workplace to care for their loved ones, they miss the opportunity to make consistent contributions to workplace retirement plans. Plus, because of their longer life spans, they are more likely than men to outlive their savings.16

Find Your Way To...An Industry That Values Your StrengthsThe strengths you have: the ability to connect with people, build relationships, listen to people’s challenges, and understand their wants and needs are what matter in the new financial services industry. WFG associate Fradel Barber explains it best: “Most people think our business is a ‘numbers’ business; but it’s really more of a ‘people’ business. When you are dealing with people – listening to their stories, discussing their life goals and dreams, and helping them find a way to accomplish them – the skills you need to be successful are compassion toward others, the ability to build relationships and trust, and the ability to understand human nature. That, by nature, is where women excel.”

A New CareerWFG believes in your potential to succeed in this industry. Whether you’re a restaurant server, accountant, or stay-at-home mom, our business

platform gives you the resources, tools, information and support that can help you transition to a financial services career.

A Level Playing FieldNo matter how you decide to build your business or which segments you wish to serve, the obstacles to advancement of the corporate world are not present at WFG. Here, your success depends on how hard you work, and the steps you can take to advance are clearly defined. There is no glass ceiling to impede your growth. Your chances of success are the same as anyone else’s.

Work/Life BalanceMany WFG business associates start their businesses to have more control over their time and have a better family life. At WFG, you have the freedom to build your business as you choose — whether that’s full-time or part-time. You can also “test-drive” the opportunity as a part-time, twin career while keeping the security of your existing job.

“WFG reveals and builds the inner strength of women. It helps us see who we really are. And through challenges, we grow to be better business owners and have a better family life. I am grateful for all the mentoring and all the great women leaders at WFG, who will continue to inspire me for the rest of my life.”

Jaime Villalovos Agoura Hills, CA Previous Career: Health Club Manager

“WFG is an extraordinary business opportunity for all people, male or female, but especially for women. WFG gives women the ability to become business owners without having to produce large sums of capital to get their businesses off the ground. WFG also gives women – married women, single moms or single women – the opportunity to build a career around their lives. And finally, at WFG there is no ceiling, glass or otherwise, that can stop any woman from [leading] her very own profitable organization.”

Michelle Tian New York, NY Previous Career: University Lecturer

“At WFG, women can build a financial safety net for themselves and their families, and realize their full potential. Once we understand our power as women and know that we are truly unstoppable, I don’t think gender has anything to do with our success. It’s about having goals, being diligent and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals. Looking back over the past few years, WFG has helped me find my passion and achieve personal growth and development. Because I find my passion here in WFG, it is no longer work! So when I am faced with all kinds of challenges day to day, I become a better person, a stronger leader, and my business gets better and bigger along the way.”

Teresa Tang-Wong Toronto, ON Previous Career: Financial Services

“Before I joined WFG, I was in the financial services industry for more than 16 years. In those days, I was really busy and pretty successful, but I never had much time to spend with my family. Now as a WFG business owner, I can manage my time between family and work more successfully.”
