    1 Introduction

    This document describes how to check the installation of the RBS 3216 beforeit is integrated with the radio network. Figure 1 on page 1 shows the cabinetof the RBS 3216.

    The RBS 3216 exists in three power versions: AC, 48 V DC, and +24 V DC.

    1.1 PurposeThe checklists in this document are designed to help ensure the quality of theRBS installation before integration with the radio network.

    The checklists are primarily intended to be used if other checklists thatsupersede them are not provided by the installation project.

    1.2 Target GroupThe target group for this information is installation personnel.

    1.3 PrerequisitesThis section describes the prerequisites that must be fulfilled before beginningthe checking procedure.

    1.3.1 Documents

    Before starting, ensure that the following documents are read and understood:

    Personal Health and Safety Information, Reference [4] System Safety Information, Reference [6]Also ensure that the latest versions of the following documents are available:

    Hardware Configuration Data, Reference [2] Product Handling, Reference [5] Grounding Guidelines for RBS Sites, Reference [1] Site Installation Documentation

    The site installation documentation, which is available from the relevantengineering department, describes those parts of an installation that areunique to a site. The complete set of documentation required for installinga site consists of the site installation documentation and the installationinstructions for each product.

    1.3.2 Tools

    The tools required for the checking procedure are shown in Table 1 on page 2.

    1.3.3 Conditions

    Ensure that the following conditions are met:

    The RBS 3216 is installed according to the site installation documentation

    The External Alarm Unit (XALM) including External Alarm Connection Unit(EACU) optional equipment is installed according to the site installationdocumentation

    The RBS 3216 is connected to an appropriate power source and theconnection has been tested and documented in the site installationdocumentation

    The UTRAN P5 or later software package is used

    The software is loaded and the RBS configured at the node productioncenter, that is, the Cabinet Equipment Configuration Wizard has been run

    The installer has access and keys to the site and the RBS cabinet

    1.4 WorkflowThe workflow for checking the RBS installation consists of four main parts, asshown in Figure 2 on page 4.

    2 Checking the Site

    This chapter contains checks to perform before the RBS 3216 is switched on.

    2.1 Checking Earth GroundingUse Table 2 on page 4 to check the installation of the earth grounding systemof the site, the RBS 3216, and the antenna feeders.

    2.3.1 Cable Ladder and Cables

    Use Table 4 on page 7 to check the installation of the cable ladder andassociated cables.

    Do!

    Products not connected to ground risk being damaged by overvoltage orovercurrent. Always connect products to ground according to instructions.

    1. Ensure that the site power is off before starting.

    2. Switch off the PDU circuit breakers, shown in position B in Figure 3 onpage 16.

    3. AC powered RBS 3216: Switch on the AC Connection Unit (ACCU) mainsswitch, shown in position A in Figure 3 on page 16.

    4 Checking after Powering Up the RBS

    This section contains checks to perform after the RBS has been switched on.

    Checking Indicator Status

    Once the power has been switched on, the boards will be loaded with theirspecific software. Optical indicators show the board status.

    Use the checklist below to check that all units have a yellow or green indicatoron or flashing and that all red indicators are off.

    1. Check the indicators on all units listed in Table 12 on page 17. Thepositions in Table 12 on page 17 refer to Figure 4 on page 17.

    2. If any red indicator is on or if all indicators on a unit are off, then contact thenext level of maintenance support.

    5 Performing Concluding Routines

    Before leaving the site, do the following:

    1. Clean the site and remove objects such as wrapping paper and cablepieces.

    2. Dispose of waste in accordance with local regulations.

    3. Report any faults in accordance with local requirements.

    4. Hand over the site installation documentation binder to the personresponsible for the site.

    5. Lock the cabinet door and any gates to the site.
