Ministry gathers us and makes us a faith family... Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time: Both widows in today’s readings gave all they had to the work of the Lord, one using all her remaining food to feed Elijah and the other offering her two copper

coins to the temple treasury. Faithful stewards give all that is asked and trust the Lord to be faithful to His promises.

Dear Parishioners, "There is one Lord. There is one faith."

We have a little gift for all our parishioners for the Year of Faith. We

are pleased to provide this reflection book from Magnificat. It is my hope that this

will be a beautiful resource as we strive to grow in the richness of faith. Please use

this well, and share your thoughts on the meditations with others! This beautiful

reflection resource is also going to be used as our Advent guide, so hang on to these

books! We owe our thanks to the Msgr Vadakin Arts and Education Fund for helping with

this project.

And as we celebrate Veterans' Day, let us thank God for the devotion and courage of

all our Military service men and women. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude for

keeping our country safe. May God continue to bestow upon us and our

children the blessings of justice and liberty. As we think about the

upcoming holidays, please keep Catholic Charities in mind. Details will

follow in the coming weeks.

Devotedly yours,

Father Gabe

Reflection on Today’s Readings: Focus: It is not about how much we have, but about our willingness to share what we have. There is no escaping the reality that if we believe in Christ, then we have the tools to make a positive difference in the lives we encounter in our daily routine. Liturgy of the Word: Elijah and Jesus both witness the faith of widows in today’s readings. From the Letter to the Hebrew we are reminded that Christ died once for all and at the time of final judgment will bring salvation to all who eagerly await His coming. The Gospel’s widow contributes all she has.

Masses: Sat: 5:30 pm. Sun: 7:30 am. Sun: 9:00 am. Sun: 10:30 am. Sun: 12:00 Noon Sun: 7:30 pm.

ST. MARGARET’S CENTER is seeking a group of volunteers who can help decorate for our annual Christmas Program held at Hollywood Park Racetrack on December 15th. Decorating will take place on Friday, December 14th. The space is quite large, and will accommodate more than 1,000 low-income children and their parents the day of the party. Decorators from previous years will help guide the new team. Please call Mary Agnes Erlandson at 310-672-2208 or email [email protected] if you are able to help with this project. Thank you!

Please pray for those who have died, especially Bert & Kathi

Glaser (parents of Drew and Matthew, St. A’s graduates and parishioners) that they may rest in peace.

A Memorial Mass for both Kathi and Bert will take place here Saturday, Nov. 17th, at 11 am.

Ministry in Community …

FACT OF LIFE Just 40 Days Ago As we close the largest 40 Days for Life campaign in history . . . the following things can be said about what God can do in just 40 days: 40 days ago . . . there were children scheduled to be aborted who are alive today. 40 days ago . . . women were making abortion appoint-ments -- but now, they're preparing their lives to welcome a new baby boy or baby girl. 40 days ago . . . cold hearts that were annoyed at your peaceful presence at the abortion facility are now open to joining you in prayer. 40 days ago . . . you may have doubted what God could accomplish; and yet through your prayer, fasting and vigil . . . YOU have been spiritually blessed. 40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that draws attention to the evil of abortion through prayer and fasting, constant vigil, and community outreach. www.40DaysforLife.Com/LA Prayer for Life: Father, you are the God of hope. Your word fills us with the vision of the world to come, when every tear will be wiped away, and death will be no more. Father, how we need that hope, how we are strength-ened by that vision! Keep our hearts focused on heaven, and diligent in the labors of earth. As we struggle against the culture of death, root our souls in the assurance of victory. We pray through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Ensure a safe road trip this holiday: Taking the kids on a road trip to visit relatives and friends is a holiday tradition for many of us. Here are two tips that can help

you get there and back as safely as possible: 1 Ensure that all occupants of any vehicles are properly secured and that there are no large or heavy items in the vehicle that may injure the occupants at any sudden stops. 2. A single parent travelling with children should ensure that permission from other parent is read-ily available for authorities (this is to prevent one parent abductions). This is especially important for air/train or cross border travel.

For particular help, you may call Assistance Ministry at (213) 637-7650.

Special Collection Next Week Sunday, November 18th, The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) takes place; CCHD is an instrument of the Catholic Church working to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ. CCHD is the domestic anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops and works to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities. CCHD offers a hand up, not a hand out. It has a complementary mission of educating on poverty and its causes. This dual pastoral strategy of education for justice and helping people who are poor speak and act for themselves reflects the mandate of the Scriptures and the principles of Catholic social teaching. CCHD also provides the Catholic faithful with concrete opportunities to live out the love of God and neighbor in ways that express our baptismal call and continuing Eucharistic transformation. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is made possible by the generous support of Catholics in the United States, especially through an annual parish collection. CCHD's grants to local anti-poverty efforts are screened, awarded and monitored in close partnership with local Catholic dioceses. CCHD grants to groups in a local community require the explicit approval of the bishop of that diocese. Envelopes are in the pews!

The Mass ♦ Evangelization ♦ Outreach ♦ Prayer A Year of Faith Proclaimed! Pope Benedict XVI has proclaimed a Year of Faith to awaken Catholics around the world to deepen our relationship with God and live as joyful witnesses to the Gospel. From October 11, 2012, to November 24, 2013, we are called to prayer, study, outreach, and evangelization so that the name of Jesus Christ will be known and loved throughout the world.

“The beginning of this special year coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, and the twentieth anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.”

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” (Matthew 21:22)

The Celebration of the Rite of Acceptance – Welcoming Baptized Adults

Into Full Communion. “Guide these candidates in the days and weeks ahead as they prepare for full reception into the Church with the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation; strengthen them in their vocation; bring them into the Kingdom of your Son, and seal them with the spirit of your promise.” Please take home a cross (located at the doors of the Church) and pray for these members of our RCIA as they continue their journey of faith: Sally Bedgood, Kris James, Lamar Stone

Ministry Equips us to deepen our love for God and share our faith…

Do not be afraid … for the Lord, the God of Israel, says, “The jar of flour shall not go empty, nor the

jug of oil run dry…” 1 Kings 17:13-14 Have you ever given money or donated goods to charity? Even though we have more than enough, we often hold on our stuff too tightly in fear of running out. Over and over in the Bible, God promises to provide for us. This week, keep in mind the poor, sick, hungry and lonely. Give someone what he or she needs. I bet you won’t feel empty, but full. God, thanks for feeding my body, mind and spirit. ______________________________________________
