Problem No. – 1 (GTU EXAM_2010) A cone 40 mm diameter and 50 mm axis is resting on one of its generator on HP which

makes 300 inclinations with VP. Draw its projections.

Problem No. – 2 (GTU EXAM_2010) A cylinder 40 mm diameter and 50 mm axis is resting on one point of a base circle on

HP while its axis makes 450 with HP and plan of the axis 350 with VP Draw projections.

Problem No. – 3 (GTU EXAM_2010) A Square Pyramid of base side 30 mm and axis 80 mm long is lying on H.P., such that it's

base sides are equally 450 inclined to V.P. and one of its slant edge is perpendicular to

H.P. Draw it's projections.

Problem No. – 4 (GTU EXAM_2011) A right circular cone of base diameter 75 mm and 100 mm height lies with one of its

Generator on the ground, draw its projection.

Problem No. – 5 (GTU EXAM_2011) A Pentagonal pyramid, base 25 mm sides and axis 60 mm long is standing on its base on

H.P. on one of its base side such that the axis of the pyramid makes an angle of 450 with

H.P. and the side on which it rests makes an angle of 300 with the V.P. Draw its

periphery of base with the axis making an angle of 300 with the H.P. and the plan of the

axis making 450 with the V.P. Draw the projections of the cone.

Problem No. – 9 (GTU EXAM_2013) A square prism having side of base 30 mm and height 45 mm is resting on HP on one of

its edge of base .The edge on which it rests on HP makes 450 with VP The base of the

prism makes 300 with HP or the axis makes 600 with HP.

Problem No. – 10 (GTU EXAM_2014) A cylindrical, diameter of base 60 mm and height 75 mm is inclined 450 to H.P. & new

plan axis inclined 300 to V.P. Draw the projection of solid.

Problem No. – 11 (GTU EXAM_2015) A square pyramid edge of the base 25mm and height 60 mm rests on one of its base

corner on HP with its axis inclined at 450 to HP. If the top view axis is making an angle of

300 with the VP than draw the projections of given square pyramid.

Problem No. – 1 (GTU EXAM_2010) A pentagonal prism, 30 mm base side & 50 mm axis is standing on HP on its base whose

one side is perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane 450 inclined to HP, and

perpendicular to V.P. through midpoint of axis. Draw F.V., sectional T.V. and true shape

of section.

Problem No. – 2 (GTU EXAM_2010) A cone 50 mm base diameter and 70 mm axis is standing on its base on HP. It cut by a

section plane 450 inclined to HP and perpendicular to V.P through base end of end

generator. Draw F.V, sectional T.V and true shape of section.

Problem No. – 3 (GTU EXAM_2010) A right circular cone, base 50 mm and axis 90 mm long is lying on H.P. on its base. A

sectional plane inclined at 300 with H.P. and perpendicular to V.P is bisecting its axis.

Draw its sectional side view, sectional plan and true shape of section.

Problem No. – 4 (GTU EXAM_2011) A square pyramid of 30 mm side of base and 60 mm height rests with one of its base

corners on the ground, such that the axis is inclined a 300 to the ground and parallel to

V.P. The two base edges containing the corner on which the pyramid rest make equal

angle with ground,. A sectional plane parallel to H.P. and perpendicular to V.P. passes

through the highest corner of the base of the pyramid. Draw the top view of the

H.P. with two edges parallel to the V.P. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to the

V.P., inclined at 450 to the H.P. and intersecting the axis at a point 25mm above the

base. Draw elevation, sectional plan & true shape of section.

Problem No. – 10 (GTU EXAM_2013) A hexagonal pyramid having side of base 35 mm and height 55 mm is resting on H.P.

with two sides of base perpendicular to V.P. is cut by an A.I.P., inclined to H.P. by 450,

passing through a point 25mm away from apex on the axis. Draw three projections with

sections and the true shape of the section.

Problem No. – 11 (GTU EXAM_2014) A Pentagonal pyramid, base 30mm side and axis 75mm long, is resting on its base on

the H.P. with one edge perpendicular to the V.P. It is cut by a section plane

perpendicular to the V.P., inclined at 450 to the H.P. and intersecting the axis at a point

Problem No. – 14 (GTU EXAM_2015) A hexagonal prism of base side 30 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on one of

its bases with two of the vertical faces perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined

at 600 to HP and perpendicular to VP and passing through a point at a distance 12 mm

from the top base. Draw its front view, sectional top view and true shape of section.

Problem No. – 15 (GTU EXAM_2015) A cylinder of base diameter 40 mm and height 60 mm rests on its base on HP. It is cut

by a plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 300 to HP and meets the axis at a

distance 30 mm from base. Draw the front view, sectional top view, and the true shape

of section.

Problem No. – 16 (GTU EXAM_2015) A pentagonal prism of 25mm side and 60mm height is standing on one of its base side

corner on the HP such that its axis makes an angle of 600 with the HP and parallel to VP.

A sectional plane is cutting this prism which makes an angle of 450 with the HP. This

cutting plane is perpendicular to VP and passing through the top most corner. Draw

sectional top view and True shape of the section of this prism.

Problem No. – 17 (GTU EXAM_2016) A regular pentagonal pyramid, side of base 30 mm and height 65 mm, lies on one of its

triangular faces in HP. Its axis is parallel to VP. A section plane, perpendicular to the VP

and parallel to the HP, cuts its axis at a point P which is 7 mm away from its base. Draw

Draw the Intersection 4 – Problems

(1-Prism into Prism, 1-Cylinder into Cylinder, 1-Cylinder into Prism,

Problem No. – 1 (GTU EXAM_2010) A square prism 30 mm base sides and 70mm axis is completely penetrated by another

square prism of 25 mm sides and 70 mm axis, horizontally. Both axes Intersects & bisect

each other at right angle. All faces of prisms are equally inclined to VP. Axes of both are

parallel to VP Draw projections showing curves of intersections.

Problem No. – 2 (GTU EXAM_2010) A cylinder 50mm dia. and 70mm axis is completely penetrated by another cylinder of

40 mm dia. and 70 mm axis horizontally both axes intersect & bisect each other at right

angle and parallel to VP. Draw projections showing curves of intersections.

Problem No. – 3 (GTU EXAM_2010) A cylinder of 40 mm diameter and axis is 90 mm long is lying perpendicular on its base

on H.P. It is penetrated by another cylinder lying such that its axis is inclined at 300 with

H.P. and parallel to V.P. Second cylinder is of same size and height as first. It is bisecting

coplanar axes of both the cylinders. Draw the curve of interpenetration in Elevation.

Problem No. – 4 (GTU EXAM_2011) A cone having base diameter 50 mm and height 60 mm is resting on H.P. It is

penetrated by a vertical cylinder of 30 mm diameter. The axis of two solids is 7 mm

apart and parallel. The plane containing two axes is parallel to V.P. Draw the projections

showing curves of penetration.

Problem No. – 6 (GTU EXAM_2012) A 30mm side prism rest on its base is penetrated by 20mm side prism such that axis of

both the prism bisect at right angle each other. The rectangular face of prism makes

equal angle with V.P. Draw the penetration lines.

Problem No. – 7 (GTU EXAM_2012) A 40mm side and 80 mm height prism rest on its base on H.P. and one of its base line

makes an angle of 300 with V.P. And a prism 25mm side and 80 mm height intersect so

the axis of both the prism bisect at right angle draw the projection and show the

penetration line.

Problem No. – 8 (GTU EXAM_2012) A cylinder of 50 mm diameter and axis 70 mm long stands with its base on the H.P. It is

Problem No. – 9 (GTU EXAM_2012) A vertical cylinder of 50mm diameter and 80mm height is penetrated by a horizontal

square prism of 25mm side and 70mm length. Their axis is perpendicular and

intersecting each other. The faces of prism are equally inclined to H.P. and V.P. Draw

the projections showing line of intersection.

Problem No. – 10 (GTU EXAM_2013, 2014) A square pipe of 50mm side has a similar branch of 30mm side. The axis of the main

pipe is vertical and is intersected by the axis of the branch at an angle of 300 to the H.P.

All the faces of pipes are equally inclined to V.P. Draw its projections showing curves of

intersection.

Problem No. – 11 (GTU EXAM_2013) A vertical cylinder of 74mm diameter is penetrated by another horizontal cylinder of

50mm diameter. The axis of penetrating cylinder is parallel to both H.P. and V.P. The

two axes are 9mm apart. Draw the curves of intersection for both cases separately.

Problem No. – 12 (GTU EXAM_2013) A vertical square prism, base 50mm having its faces equally inclined to V.P. is

completely penetrated by a horizontal cylinder of 40mm diameter, the axis of which

parallel to V.P. and 6mm away from that of the prism. Draw its projections showing

curves of intersection.

Problem No. – 13 (GTU EXAM_2013, 2014) A vertical cone, diameter of base 70mm and axis 90mm long is completely penetrated

by a cylinder of 40mm diameter. The axes of the cylinder are parallel to H.P. and V.P.

and intersect the axis of cone at a point 27mm above the base. Draw projections of the

solids showing curves of intersection.

Problem No. – 14 (GTU EXAM_2013) A vertical cylinder of 75 mm diameter and 115 mm height is penetrated by another

cylinder of 60 mm diameter and axis 100 long, the two axis bisecting each other at right

angles .Draw the front view showing line of intersection.

Problem No. – 15 (GTU EXAM_2013,) A vertical cylinder of 80 mm diameter and 115 mm height is penetrated by a cone, base

75 mm diameter and their axis bisecting each other at right angles. Draw the front view

showing line of intersection assuming the axis of the penetrating cylinder to parallel to

the V.P.

Problem No. – 16 (GTU EXAM_2013) A vertical square prism, base of 80 mm side is completely penetrated by a horizontal

square prism base 35 mm side so that their axis are 6 mm apart .The axis of horizontal

prism is parallel to VP ,while the faces of both prisms are equally inclined to the V.P.

Draw the projections of the prisms showing.

Problem No. – 17 (GTU EXAM_2014) A vertical cylinder of 80mm diameter is penetrated by another horizontal cylinder of

40mm diameter. The axis of penetrating cylinder is parallel to both H.P. and V.P. The

two axes are 9mm apart. Draw the curves of intersection.

Problem No. – 18 (GTU EXAM_2014) A vertical square prism, base 50mm having its faces equally inclined to V.P. is

completely penetrated by a horizontal cylinder of 40mm diameter, the axis of which

parallel to V.P. and 6mm away from that of the prism. Draw its projections showing

curves of intersection.

Problem No. – 19 (GTU EXAM_2014, 2016) A square prism 40 mm base sides and 80 mm long is standing on H.P. on its base. It is

penetrated by a horizontal square prism having 30mm base sides and 80 mm height

such that axis of both the prisms bisects one -another , vertical faces of both prisms are

equally inclined with the V.P. and axes of both the prisms are parallel to V.P. Draw

projections of these prisms showing the line of intersection.

Problem No. – 20 (GTU EXAM_2014) A vertical cylinder of 40mm diameter is penetrated by another horizontal cylinder of

30mm diameter. Height of both cylinders are same and is 80 mm the axes of both

cylinders are parallel to V.P. and bisects each other at right angles. Draw the projections

showing curves of intersection.

Problem No. – 21 (GTU EXAM_2014, 2015) A vertical cylinder of 50 mm base diameter is penetrated by a square prism having 25

mm base sides such that the axes of both bisects each other at right angle. Faces of

Problem No. – 24 (GTU EXAM_2015) A square prism of base side 60 mm rests on one of its ends on the HP with the base

sides equally inclined to the VP. It is penetrated fully by another square prism of base

side 45 mm with the base side equally inclined to the HP. The axes intersect at right

angles. The axis of the penetrating prism is parallel to both the HP and the VP. Draw the

projections with their line of intersection.

Problem No. – 25 (GTU EXAM_2015) A horizontal cylinder of diameter 40 mm penetrates into a vertical cylinder of diameter

60 mm. The axes of the cylinders intersect at right angles. Draw the curves of

intersection when the axis of the horizontal cylinder is parallel to the VP.

Problem No. – 26 (GTU EXAM_2015) A vertical cone, diameter of base 60 mm and axis 100 mm long is standing on H.P. on its

base. A cylinder of 35mm diameter completely penetrated in the cone. The axis of the

cylinder is parallel to H.P. and V.P. and intersect the axis of cone at a point 30 mm

above the base and on the axis of cone. Draw projections of the solids showing curves

of intersection.

Problem No. – 27 (GTU EXAM_2015) A cylinder 50mm diameter is rest on HP is cut by another cylinder diameter 20mm, its

axis is parallel to VP and makes an angle of 45º with HP. Draw the front view showing

the line of intersection.

Problem No. – 28 (GTU EXAM_2015) A square prism 40 mm side and 80 mm height is resting on HP and its vertical face is

inclined 45º to VP is cut by another square prism 20mm side and 60 mm height its face

is inclined 45º to HP axis of both the prism is intersecting at right angle. Draw the front

view showing the line of intersection.

Problem No. – 29 (GTU EXAM_2015) A cylinder 50mm diameter is rest on HP is cut by another square prism 20mm side its

Problem No. – 30 (GTU EXAM_2015) A cylinder, diameter of base 50 mm and height of axis 70 mm, rests on HP on its base

rim such that its axis is inclined at 450 to HP and top view of the axis is inclined at 600 to

the VP. Draw its projection.

Problem No. – 31 (GTU EXAM_2016) A cylinder of base diameter 60 mm and 90 mm long, resting on its base on HP. It is

penetrated by a square prism of 36 mm base sides and 90 mm long such that axis of the

solids bisects each other at right angles. The faces of prism are equally inclined with

V.P. Draw the projections of solids showing the line of intersection.

Problem No. – 32 (GTU EXAM_2016) A cylinder of base diameter 54 mm and height 100 mm, resting on its base in HP. It is

penetrated by another cylinder of base diameter 40 mm. The axis of penetrating

cylinder is inclined to HP at 45˚, is parallel to VP and cuts the axis of vertical cylinder at

a distance of 20 mm from its base. Draw projections of two cylinders showing the line

of intersection. Assuming suitable length of penetrating cylinder.

Problem No. – 33 (GTU EXAM_2016) A circular cone base diameter 56 mm and height 66 mm, resting on its base on HP. It is

completely penetrated by a cylinder of base diameter 30 mm. The axis of cylinder is

parallel to both HP and VP and intersects the axis at a distance of 20 mm from its base.

Draw projections of solids showing the line of intersection. Assuming suitable length of

penetrating cylinder.
