We’re installing a storm sewer system with a five-year capacity to service Five Points, Whittier, City Park West and Cheeseman Park.

Our goal is to improve drainage during storm events and address areas where significant flooding could occur.

This project includes additional improvements to connecting systems upstream in areas to the east, which are also at increased risk of flooding.

WHY

The new storm system will carry storm runoff and snowmelt safely to the South Platte River, reducing the risk of damage to residential and commercial properties.

These are some examples of the worst flooding in the neighborhood.

WHY

These are photos of some of the existing 100-year-old brick storm vaults — they are severly undersized and contribute to flooding issues.

Page 11: 33rd Street Outfall Phase 4 - Denver...Phase 4 of the 33rd Street Outfall project will increase capacity throughout the whole system, taking pressure off of older structures like these

WHY

The existing storm system underneath the streets in these neighborhoods is severly undersized — some are only 18 inches wide, which contributes greatly to flooding.

The new box culverts we will be installing are 10 foot wide by 8 feet deep — that means almost 43 times as much water can flow through this new and improved system.
