Addressing a press gathering on the con- cluding ceremony of the 3-day Travel Mart today, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar said that JK government will make sure that this mart and other promotional events become regular feature in Kashmir. The minister said that Kashmir tourism would get boost by events like the present Travel Mart. “In future, we will fix a particu- lar date for organizing this event so that international buyers can plan their trip accordingly,” he said. “We need these kinds of events in Kashmir in which buyers across the world visit and do business with locals here. It will not only help tourism but also give business to local play- ers,” he said. Akhtar, however, admit- ted that floods followed by the incessant rainfall this year hampered the influx of tourists to the Valley. “There were massive can- cellations due to the floods, which were followed by the continuous rainfall in March and April this year. However, the government is doing its best to make up for the losses,” the Educa- tion Minister said. On the dilapidated conditions of the roads in Kashmir, the Minister said restoration of roads is the biggest challenge for the government. “I know the condition of roads is worse. We have already initiated the process for its restora- tion,” he said. He said the 3-day Travel Mart was a successful venture in which over 180 domestic and 20 interna- tional buyers participated. Commissioner Secre- tary, Tourism Shailendra Kumar on the occasion said the government is making all out efforts to boost tour- ism industry in the state. He said the government is contemplating preparing comprehensive plan for developing spots having tourist potential. Kumar announced that the recommendations of the Travel Mart would be documented and presented before the Government. Srinagar, May 18: On the concluding day of JK Travel Mart today, the Jammu and Kashmir government pledged to make it a regular feature to boost tourism.

Addressing a press gathering on the con-cluding ceremony of the 3-day Travel Mart today, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar said that JK government will make sure that this mart and other promotional events become regular feature in Kashmir.

The minister said that Kashmir tourism would get boost by events like the present Travel Mart. “In future, we will fix a particu-lar date for organizing this event so that international buyers can plan their trip accordingly,” he said.
