Pace School of the Arts School will invite all parents to attend three Parent Family Engagement Policy meetings during the fall of 2017 to review and revise the Parent Family Engagement Policy. Parent input and comments regarding this plan will be welcomed during the school year. A paper copy will be made available in our Parent Resource Center. Once revised, the Parent Family Engagement Policy will be posted on our school website for parents to view. All parent feedback received during the year will be used to revise the plan for the next school year. We also distribute an annual survey online and place a hard copy in every student’s book bag in May of each school year. The following link was provided to parents and made available on our school website. Parents can also give feedback during parent meetings and activities during the school year including all parent workshops. Who is it for? School Plan for Shared Student Achievement

What is it?This is a plan that describes how Kay R. Pace School of the Arts will provide opportunities to improve parent engagement to support student learning. Kay R. Pace School of the Arts will support parent engagement and how parents can help plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and at home. Pace will engage all parents through parent academy academic workshops, school centered academic events, providing resources in the Parent Center, and periodic parent surveys. 2018–2019 District GoalsBy 2023, Clayton County Public Schools will increase the percentage of students scoring at

the Proficient and/or Distinguished levels on the Georgia Milestones to at least 80% in each

content area.

Let’s Get Together!Kay R. Pace School of the Arts will host the following events to build the capacity for strong parental involvement to support a partnership among the school, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement. Most meetings for parents will be held during the day. There will be selective evening meetings on occasion so ALL parents can be involved. One on one parent meetings can be scheduled upon request with our Parent Liaison. 2018–2019 School Goals

On the 2017 CCRPI report, increase the CCRPI performance indicator in reading and

mathematics by 3 percent in all core content areas on Georgia Milestones and or local

assessments. Thefocus for reading and math is:

K- Retelling familiar stories and Identifying characters

1st, 2nd-Vocabulary, Comprehension3rd, 4th, 5th- Solving Word Problems & Multiplication & Division

Jackson Meet and Greet – TBA Meet your child’s teacher and our friendly and helpful school staff for the year.

School-Parent Compacts

As part of this plan, Kay R. Pace School of the Arts and our families will develop a school-parent compact, which is an agreement that parents, teachers, and students will develop that explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards. The compacts will be reviewed and updated annually. In

Kay R. Pace School of the Arts is Branching Out!

Kay R. Pace School of the Arts will take the following measures to promote and support parents as an important foundation of the school in order to strengthen the school and reach our school goals. We will:

Ensure that all information related to school and parent programs,meetings, and other activities is published in both English and Spanish, posted on the school website, marquee and weekly flyers.

Provide monthly trainings for staff during their planning periods on strategies to improve communication with parents and ideas to increase family engagement. Staff will also share best practices during regularly scheduled faculty meetings.

Share information in our school newsletter.

Communicate with all families and the community on a regular basis regarding school wide events and activities, through the schools calling post (Tune In Tuesdays), marquee, and flyers.

Provide necessary materials and handouts for parents at conferences, meetings, and activities to help parents work with their child to improve their child’s achievement. Additionally information will be provided during parent academy workshops. Lastly, information will be made available online.

Pace Parent Advisory Team

Kay R. Pace School of the Arts invites all parents to join the Parent Advisory Team to share ideas and ways to involve other parents to build partnerships with school, families, and the community. The team will meet 4 times during the school year, but parents can also submit their ideas or suggestions at any school activities and meetings, as well as through our parent surveys and website.
