3D Face Reconstruction

� Obtaining a 3D face model from a sequence of

2D images

� We have two well known methods in 3D facemodel construction from 2D images

� 1.Morphable model

� 2.Structure from motion



Tracking facial feature points

� We use 72 facial feature points

� Number of points used in face modeling using

AAM vary in the range 60-100� The feature points detected in one frame are

used as the initial locations for searching in the

next frame resulting in more stable point

correspondences



3D Shape Reconstruction

� It is a solution for the structure from motion

problem

� Here we have different factorization methodsdepending on the rigidity of the object

� Under the orthographic projection model the

relationship between 2D feature points and 3D

shape is given by W=MS

As with many developing technologies, the incredible

potential of facial recognition comes with some

drawbacks, but manufacturers are striving to enhance

the usability and accuracy of the systems. Facerecognition promises latest security invents in the

upcoming trends based on bio-metrics and pattern

matching techniques and algorithms.
